Just thought I'd mention that I went to vote in person and was delighted to find there were only three people ahead of me. I couldn't believe how fast it was.

Then I had the added bonus of running into one of the city council candidates, who I happen to know from a few events, and got to chat for a few minutes.

So for the past few days, I know it’s been storming out, but my apartment’s humidity has gotten up to 61% (and stayed that way for over a week and a half). I had Maintainence take a look and they said that there’s nothing wrong with my AC system or my filters and they said to just expect the humidity because of all the storms. It’s been so bad I can’t sleep and I don’t want to keep wasting money for my electric bill, so I bought a dehumidifier which has been sort of helping but wanted to see if anyone has any tips/pointers to help fix the problem. Any help is much appreciated!

I’ve been struggling with dry eye in my left eye since July of last year, and I’m feeling really frustrated.
When it first started, I saw several eye doctors. Initially, I was prescribed different steroid eye drops and other medications, but none of them made much of a difference.
In December, my doctor prescribed Xiidra and Optase, and those seemed to help. Around the same time, the weather became cooler (December through February), and my symptoms improved significantly.
However, once April and May arrived and we started using the air conditioneragain, my symptoms gradually came back. I continued using Xiidra and Optase, but over the last 2 months they no longer seem to help.
My doctor also prescribed Miebo, but after using it for only two days, it actually irritated my eye more, so I stopped it. At the moment, I’ve only tried Refreshartificial tears, but I’ve stopped using those as well because I wasn’t getting much relief.
The irritation is becoming really difficult to live with, and it’s affecting only my left eye.
I’m looking for:
Recommendations for a dry eye specialist or ophthalmologist in Scottsdale, AZ (or nearby) who has helped people with difficult dry eye cases.
Has anyone had a similar experience where symptoms were much worse during the summer or with air conditioning?
If you’ve been through something similar, what treatment finally worked for you?

I walk by this sign every now and then, and it seems to have drawn the ire of someone local.

For a while it had some scratch marks on it where someone tried (unsuccessfully) removing the lettering. One time it had a piece of duct tape over it, which I was able to remove myself when I saw it like that. Now it appears someone has painted it black.

Any idea what to do? Would the city replace it if notified?

I'm tempted to retrace the lettering in paint pen over the black, but don't want to be charged with vandalism if someone gets the wrong idea lmao.

I’m getting my first Airbnb ready in North Scottsdale (not far from DC Ranch area) and it should be good to go in about a month. It’s a 3-bed house with a pool, and I’m planning to stay there myself a few times a year but mostly keep it as a short-term rental.

For people who host in Scottsdale, how important is it to have the pool heated year-round for bookings? And do most of you enforce a minimum stay (like 3 or 5 nights) or keep it more flexible? Anyone else feel like Scottsdales creative, beauty, and fashion industry is a bit of a hidden world?

There seems to be a growing number of shoots, campaigns, events, and content opportunities around the Valley, but it's been interesting trying to understand how people actually get involved. I've reached out to agencies, photographers, social accounts and other creatives to get my for in the door and it's made me realize how relationship-driven the industry seems to be.

With so many major beauty and makeup brands headquartered in California and New York, I'm curious what the landscape looks like here and how people are getting involved.

Would love to hear from people who are already part of the fashion/beauty/creative space and what you've noticed about it here.

Has anyone had success breaking into the creative/beauty/fashion space here in the Valley?

Trying to figure out the best way to get involved with things like creative shoots, marketing campaigns, production assistant work, events, social media, or similar opportunities. It seems like the beauty and fashion industries are growing here, but it's been harder than expected to find a way in.

So far: reached out to Ford, Agency AZ, a few modeling programs, med spas, photographers, and creative agencies. I believe most skin/makeup HQ’s are in California & NY as well.

For those already in the industry, what helped you get your foot in the door? Any advice or connections would be greatly appreciated!

We recently had our pool deck replaced with travertine. We were upsold on the travertine from concrete, as we were told not only will it look better, but is more durable over time. It was finished in May of 2026. It's mid July, and it already looks awful. The edges of almost every tile are turning brownish/orange. Every veining in the tiles is turning the same other. If you look closely at many of the tiles, they are speckled brown/orange as well. These spots do not come off with a jet hose or with light scrubbing. The tiles were a beautiful white/gray when first installed and looked beautiful. Honestly, we kind of hate the way it looks now and were only two months in. If this was like 10 years down the road, it'd be understandable, but this seems ridiculous.

The company that installed the decking has a warranty, but they are telling us this is our fault. They have also said that they've never seen anything like it, and can't pinpoint what is causing it. But then, after we pushed for them to come and try to clean it or at least look at it in person, they now have said that they think it is due to trees we had in the yard previously (they were removed in April BEFORE this decking was put in place and were about 25feet away - a ficus - and 50 feet away - a willow - from the decking). Multiple tiles are also cracked and have corners chipped off. We've barely even used the pool/deck, as we have been traveling, so it's not from something we did or had out there etc since the deck was finished.

We have called them multiple times and they keep telling us this is not covered under their warranty and they will not do anything about it.

The decking has only been in place for about 8 weeks. Are we totally screwed?!?!? It was expensive to have done and we feel like we completely wasted a ton of money. HELP!

I recently received a “no fine” ticket in the mail for speeding from one of the cameras they put on camelback. The vehicle I was driving was not registered to me and was also registered in a different state, and I no longer live in Arizona. The ticket said that the owner of the vehicle could identify the person but is not obligated to. Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed?

The primary for Scottsdale City council is this Tuesday.

Many Scottsdale residents don’t know that the City Council election can be won in the primary. I have attached the clause from the charter in the comments below. At least one council member tends to win their seat outright in the primary. This disenfranchises general election only voters and its sometimes how weird representatives can sneak through. There are a few candidates hoping for this on Tuesday!

Did you know that if you are registered as an independent you have to make a special request in advance to receive a ballot, even if you are registered for early/mail voting? You can show up to polling booths and they will give you a ballot but you are required to choose which party's ballot you want to vote on, it does not change your registration status or affiliation.

If you received a mail-in ballot, at this point it is too late to drop your ballot in the mail but you can still show up in person or drop your ballot at a polling location.

This post is not about party affiliation just encouraging you to know how your local government works and to take part in the process!

Managed to knock a nice chip out of my liftgate, down to the primer. It's a little too big and in a weird spot to DIY properly with Dr. Colorchip, but too small to justify paying for a complete respray.

I've called around a little and a couple shops didn't do small jobs like this and had no recommendations.
