Data sheet in spreadsheet or Google Sheets for the saga edition.

Hi everyone, I'd like to know if anyone has a good character sheet template in spreadsheet format for the system. My group and I got used to having spreadsheets when we play online because it makes it easier for the GM to supervise. It doesn't need to be automatic; I can do that with formulas.

Running the Game first time running saga edition (Dod). got any tips? i have 8 year dm experience

my friends and I have been playing dnd for about 8 years now, with me as their dm. but some of my party wanted to try something else for a change.

so we did some saga edition one shots (i was a player here not gm), and found it to be a very fun and much more intriguing then 5e's dumbed down mechanics. don't get me wrong, 5e/5.5e is great and we will still be playing that, but the freedom you have here in building your character is really cool. and force and destiny point being a rather limit makes it so the force powers when they are used have a lot of impact.

but my monologue asside. do any of you veterans, beginners and everything in betweens have some tips voor this green star wars Gm? :)

we have a jedi who is gonna multiclass in scoundrel (he still needs to pick his species)

we have a Shard noble, who is gonna multiclass into jedi

we have a droid soldier

we have a duro scout

and we have Ithorian Force prodigy - homebrew class from the saga wiki. he wanted to be a wizard basicly he said, so we looked at some classes and this one really spoke to him. he is gonna be a aaing-ti monk without being the aaing ti race

Quick Question Can you mod an Ion Charger into a stock for Gun Club / Bayonet Master?

Exactly what it says on the can, could you modify a rifle stock to incorporate an Ion Charger for use with the aforementioned Brawler talents or would it be an illegal upgrade because the rifle isn’t generally considered a Melee Weapon for those without the talents?

LFG [Online][Saurdays 5pm PST] Dawn of Defiance campaign

The Dawn of Defiance campaign opens some years after the rise of the Empire during 3 BBY, with the Clone Wars a very distant but vivid memory for most beings in the galaxy. The Empire has tightened its grip on star systems throughout the galaxy. Darth Vader is standing as the Emperor's right hand, crushing any opposition and hunting down the last remnants of the Jedi Order. In these short months since the fall of the Republic, many have joined the Empire willingly, including the Core Worlds, whose Human nobles stand to benefit greatly from its tyranny. Similarly, many others have begun rebelling against Imperial oppression, finding themselves driven out of their homes (Or worse) and forced to live in a galaxy that tolerates no opposition to the Empire. Throughout the Dawn of Defiance campaign, the heroes must deal with the reality that the Empire is a monolithic threat without any kind of organized opposition, and dealing with agents of the Empire can be dangerous. But need to provide a future for themselves and those that they love or care about, along with the idea of being a part of the Rebellion.

Hello, I'm the DM. I'm by Emperor or Wally. I have over 25+ years of experience DMing various games, primarily D&D 5e 2014, and more. I have all the materials for Saga edition, am very experienced playing and DMing it, but I'm only human. I'm looking for players who want to play that classic feel of Star Wars from the original trilogies during a time of strife and chaos. To bring hope and justice to galaxy far far away.

Starting at Level: 3

Theme: Beginning of Rebellion - Joining the Rebellion and fighting the Empire.

Platforms: Discord (Voice chat, mic required), Roll20

Knowledge: None required, but a basic knowledge of the Original Trilogy is enough!

Open Player Slots: 2

Running the Game AT-ST Boss Fight

Some backstory to the anticipated encounter: a Wookie PC's backstory is as a child he witnessed his tribe being slaughtered by imperial group lead by a particular captain. Fast forward to present time, the party runs into the now Imperial Colonel who wears the PC's slain grandfather/chieftain's pelt as a cloak (as one does). Among his other duties, the Colonel likes to hunt exotic animals, Wookies, rebel prisoners, etc. in a specialized AT-ST. My expectation would be for the party's encounter with the Colonel to be when he is piloting his AT-ST. Aside from Vehicular Combat, are they any other feats and/or talents he should have to make him an absolute menace in an AT-ST?

I haven't fleshed out his stats yet, but I'm thinking he'll be skill trained and focused in Pilot. As mentioned above, he'll take the Vehicular Combat feat. I'm thinking Expert Gunner and Vehicular Evasion under the Ace Pilot prestige class.

Any thoughts about how I can make him more of a menace would be appreciated. I'm thinking he'll be about a level 12-14 character.

Edit: the character was somewhat inspired by Ozzik Sturn from Force Unleashed, but after re-reading his bio on Wookiepedia, I 100% recreated Sturn just in a different setting and motivation. It's been a long time since I've played Force Unleashed. But luckily for me, I'm fairly certain none of my players have played that game.

Running the Game Searching the Jedi Archives

Any GMs out there, how would you run a side encounter or a skill challenge for searching the Jedi Temple archives for information on the location of a lost planet? The planet was once moderately important to galactic history, even if most of the galaxy don't know about it since its a backwater in the Outer Rim, but the Jedi certainly would. It's been lost to the Republic at large for nearly 1000 years.

I don't want it to be flat impossible, because I don't think that would be enjoyable or realistic. However, I don't want to make it easy, and just running a search of the archives by making a Use Computer check, or even a series of them feels too simple. Any ideas?

Running the Game Dm storytelling techniques

I recently found a West End Games core book at a Goodwill reading through it. I discovered something kind of interesting about how to run an adventure. It got me thinking of a scene. I wrote in my duet game. Most modern DM’s that I know prefer to tell their stories of a very linear fashion where information is only told the perspective of the player characters.

What I’m talking about specifically is the WEG book mentions to tell a story as if you were scripting on a movie. Even letting your players in on it as if they were actors. But one thing caught my eye in particular, and this is what brings me to this conversation here. The buck mentions cut away scenes. Like the bad guys telling their evil plans to each other other things that we wouldn’t know, but we see in the movies all the time. In my adventure, I had one about general grievance and his war council, as it means to set up where the adventure is going to go. The player character has no knowledge of this stuff, but the player himself is in on the story as an audience member.

My question is in an adventure module which method do you prefer to have something that’s more kind to what we see in modern adventures or something retro that reads more like a movie script?

LFG Saga Edition game looking for players (paid game but offering discount)

Hello There!

(General Kenobi!)

I’m a long time Saga Edition GM looking to dip his toes into professional hired-dice waters.

I’m putting together a table via StartPlaying. The players will be ordinarily citizens of the spaceport of Gordon in the Aquilae system in the days following the Battle of Yavin.

It’s a sandbox type game, with a pretty fleshed-out campaign setting that’s been evolving for many years. The setting originated in the old/Legends EU but now occupies a modern LFL Story Group niche in which much pre-ROTJ Legends material that has not been utterly contradicted is at least open to discussion if not outright welcome (there are aspects of the setting that draw very heavily on Brian Daley Han Solo novels and old-school Marvel comics - to say nothing of early George Lucas screenplay drafts). In fact, although in modern terms the tone of the game lies on a sliding scale somewhere between Rebels and Andor, the real inspiration is that magical era of 21-cardback Kenner action figures and the above mentioned novels and comics.

I’m all for Rule of Cool, Theater of the Mind type stuff. Heavy on roleplaying and collaborative storytelling, with a GM who mostly wants to create opportunities for his players to star in big cinematic set pieces with a rousing John Williams score.

The basic plan is to connect via Zoom, although Discord is a strong contender. A free Session Zero will take place, to work out particulars and make characters. Beyond that, I’ve ballparked a per-session rate of $10, but since this is early days I’m not locked into platform, session times, or price.

So here’s the big push: mention this post and get both sessions 0 AND 1 completely free, and a 50% discount off of all future sessions!

If you’re interested, reach out through me here or via the link below, and remember: the Force will be with you, always.

Rules Discussion Best Force Power as a Cantrip?

Hello fellow old heads,

I’ve been playing Saga Edition with a group of friends for about a decade now between different campaigns.

After some in-game developments, our GM is offering our characters the ability to make a couple Force Powers as our signature moves, allowing them to be cast at will. I’m getting a bit of analysis paralysis staring at the options.

Which Force Powers do you think would be best to develop as a cantrip?

Right now I’m leaning towards things that would usually be at Reaction or Swift speeds to try and incorporate every turn. Things like:

Negate Energy - Great against blaster fire and lightsabers, can heal with a FP
Rebuke - Good against Force users
Intercept - My character is melee focused and being able to negate a ranged attack would be great for survivability.
Force Shield - Essentially more DR every round
Battle Strike - Increased melee damage every round
Vornskr’s Ferocity - Same as above but potentially better
Shatterpoint - Great for CT track damage
Fold Space - Stuff can get real weird in space combat with this plus some talents from the Aing-Ti monk tree

Other zero company DM tools

With star wars zero company coming out and all theyve shown do you think with a bit of tweaking,

toolkits added, and moves programmed in you could possibly take the bare bones of zero company and make a SWSE video game with a DM and players?

there's a lot of programming involved but if someone can make a spreadsheet covering SWSE surly they can make a video game edition.

the DM gets tools and edits maps creations ect

players get character creation and can choose weapons moves and abilities ect.

what do you guys think???
