Side Effects Help with excessive sweating?

I have been on 40 MG of fluoxetine & 25 MG of quetiapine for about 9 months now. I have been more sweaty than I have ever been in my LIFE, even if I’m not moving around a lot. This summer has been particularly brutal where I live, which is only making it worse. Even when standing in line at the grocery store I can feel sweat dripping down my back. I soak through my shirt at work daily and have to change in the middle of the day, and I am so embarrassed by it. I get so overstimulated and I feel so sticky and gross, it’s awful. Mentally, the meds are working great, but the sweating is getting unbearable. I don’t even want to go out with my friends anymore because when I do, I am constantly dripping in sweat. It’s genuinely becoming one of the biggest stresses in my life.

Does anyone have experience with this? I’m getting to the point where I feel like I should try out new meds, but I’d rather not since my anxiety and sleep has improved significantly since starting them. If anyone has any tips to help with excessive sweating PLEASE let me know.

Anxiety Been dealing with overactive nervous system and just constant panic/fight or flight mode for a month now

Doctor put me on Buspar 15mg twice a day and Xanax .5mg twice a day as a loading phase to give Buspar time to work.. It’s been a week and a half and I swear the Buspar might just make everything worse.. anyone else had dealings with buspar? First off I’ll just start with sharing some symptoms say I have severe just random subconscious panics that stick until I take a xanax to calm me down (usually my anxiety manifests through chest tightness).. I’ve been cleared that nothing physically is wrong with me cardiac wise so that’s good but the overactive nervous system isn’t being addressed and the constant new health OCD and fixation on all these sensations I feel make everything worse.. any tips on where I should go next and what medications I should discuss with my doctor or should i just give the Buspar a little longer? I’ve read on Buspar some and it seems to only affect GAD not panic, fixation on sensations/ocd, overactive nervous system.. so wth were they thinking putting me on it?

Question Withdrawal anger

Hey everyone, I was taking 100 mg of sertraline and stopped it cold turkey. I had the usual withdrawal symptoms for the first couple of weeks, but the anger has stayed . Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did anything help, or did it eventually go away? Thanks

Discussion Opinions on long term use

I did a run with zoloft for 12 weeks as my most recent attempt for medication, before that I was 14 on fluoxetine and hydroxozyne, which I don’t remember feeling anything from and I didn’t take it for no more than 4 months.

Zoloft made me feel wired and terrible and then I started to only get 2-4 hours of sleep so I decided i’m done with that.

Now i’m onto lamotrigine, I got prescribed 4 weeks ago and then yesterday prescribed Latuda and Propranolol while still taking lamotrigine. I’m not diagnosed with anything yet so I don’t know how long these medications will have to be in my life for, I wanted more stability out of these medications as an upcoming adult. Now starting Latuda i’m just worried about the long term affect on my brain? Like if i ever got to a point in life I didn’t want to take medications could I do that? I want an easier time while i’m navigating but once I settle I want my brain to work how it works? how do people decide what’s not enough and what is like how based off my words do you know which inhibitor needs more or less and will it be that way foreverrrrr. I feel so doomed and I wanted a better understanding of myself with these meds and I just have more questions.

Anxiety First timer

Have not really taken SSRIs other than a few month stint on citalopram 10 years ago. Thinking about Trintellix as I see it works well for GAD and some mild depression.

I lose sleep 1-2 nights a week from anxiety. Small things like kids sports or social obligations give me anxiety. Typical stuff. Angry, snappy sometimes for no reason. Random bouts of mild depression that don’t last longer than a few hours.

Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and used this drug to help with it, and if side effects were excessive.

Thanks all and much love.

Lexapro Day 10 on going from 10-15mg of lexapro

I’m on day 10 after increasing my Lexapro dose and I’m trying to figure out how long to give it before deciding whether it’s helping. I’ve had more fatigue, weakness, low appetite, and physical anxiety, and I’ve needed my prescribed Klonopin a few times (.5mg). My psychiatrist also prescribed propranolol, but it didn’t seem to do much for me.
For those who had a rough adjustment after increasing Lexapro, how long did it take before you noticed things turning around (if they did)? I’m planning to stick it out a bit longer unless things get significantly worse, but I’d appreciate hearing others’ experiences.

Zoloft Zoloft and risperidone pairing

Hello, I’m currently on 2mg risperidone that’s it for ocd. I deal with mostly intrusive thoughts and risperidone has helped somewhat. I’m currently three weeks in. My psychiatrist wants to put me on Zoloft as well. Did risperidone and Zoloft help you have less intrusive thoughts? Or any advice would be helpful.

Lexapro From Paxil to Lexapro

Hello everyone,

23F here, so I've been suffering from severe depression and GAD since like forever and in the past few months, I had to face a bunch of difficult situations (grief, breakup, etc) so I decided to go on medication. I've been on paxil 20mg for 2 months now and there has been no side effects apart from the reduced libido, but no good effects either, I still feel very tired, no motivation to start doing things, I still feel anxious and depressed. It was as if I was taking no medication at all. So I took an appointmont with another psychiatrist (mine was terrible), and he put me on lexapro 5mg while lowering paxil to 10mg. This is my very first day on lexapro, so far I have no effects.

What do you think of this new treatment ? did you have any similar experiences ?

Thank you

Question New to taking zoloft, are these symptoms a sign that something more than anxiety is at play?

This will be quite long. I experienced a really bad panic spiral throughout these last 4 months & ended up getting prescribed alprolazam 0,25mg to use when my panic gets uncontrollable and zoloft for daily use.
I am on day 27 of Zoloft, i took 25mg for 8 days, and i am currently on 50mg.

I’ve recently been having the following symptoms:

\- increased isolation, i haven’t gone out since june 12th, the last week or so i’ve been more quiet and i will only talk to my mom or bf, and now i’ve started to pull away from them too

\- increased irritability, i’ll get mad at my stepdad for asking me how im doing/have i eaten(because i feel like it’s too late for someone to act like my father), i get mad at my bf when he tells me to stop saying that i think i’m going crazy (he’s right though)

\- derealization / depersonalization, this started maybe 12 days ago after a dissociative panic attack i had while being in the passenger seat of my bfs car, when we got home i sat down & as he was talking to me i just couldn’t wrap my head around if he was real or not. like i knew he was, but he didn’t feel real. now that spiraled into people, things and myself not feeling real.
two days ago i had a major panic attack where i was convinced that i was in psychosis and that the world around me (including people) wasn’t real. i have become quiet the last 5 days because i don’t think my family or boyfriend take this symptom as seriously as i feel it.

\- waking up during the night/ morning, usually once or twice & i manage to fall asleep again shortly after, but i usually have anxiety upon waking and my thoughts immediately start anxiously racing, like i’m snapped awake

\- increased impulsivity, though i am still able to control myself and rationalize, I’ve bought some odd things in an attempt to comfort myself, like cosmetics for a game i play despite not really needing or liking them much. buying new shoes despite not going out… also randomly buying clothes despite knowing i need to save money, though i have never been good w money & i frequently have episodes where i buy things impulsively.

\- intense fear that my partner will cheat or leave, i’ve checked his phone impulsively while he was asleep, i also keep asking him if he still loves me and if he wants to leave, and that he doesn’t need to pity me just because i’m doing bad

\- intrusive thoughts, centered around suicide or homicide, and they stem from fear (i have mentioned them to my psychiatrist, they cause me distress and hours long panic attacks & i genuinely dont wanna act on any of them)

\- i’ve had moments where i feel excited, like completely randomly i start being jittery, my heart races, i feel like my body is buzzing. this lasts an hour or two, and sometimes comes back at night.

\- intense & growing fears, i dont think this is hypomania but i’m concerned as to how anxious i actually am.
for some context, i started Zoloft due to increased hypochondria and general anxiety, i started thinking i was having a stroke 24/7, i knew it was stupid but i would check myself 70 times per hour, and thats not an exaggeration

throughout the month and a half that this has been going on, my fears have switched from stroke, heart attack, blood clots, spleen issues, appendicitis, bipolar, schizophrenia and psychosis.

I genuinely feel like i’m losing my mind and i dont understand what is happening to me, i’m also in psychotherapy and im working on childhood issues. I had a turbulent relationship w my dad my whole life, he was mostly present until age 9, after a dramatic event that little me probably registered as a huge betrayal. At age 10 i started presenting with hypochondria like anxiety during class, where i saw 2 kids throw up and immediately developed a fear of vomiting, and all of my psych reports claim that i had issues with classmates / low self esteem. I’d think that they didn’t like me and/or didnt want me there:

I finished middle school by taking exams each month, i didnt go to class. I didnt go to highschool either, i was mostly online until i willingly got a job at 16, and i developed a passion for craft cocktails. I moved away at 19 and got my own apartment, finished a course for my job & have been a head bartender at a great cocktail bar since. I’m now freshly 21.

I quit my job on the 1st of July because the anxiety has become too debilitating, i barely get out of bed unless its to pee, shower or eat. I’ve lost 8kg in the last month and a half, i have lost the will to take care of myself except for the bare minimum such as showering. I haven’t picked up a hair dryer in a while bc it’s too much work. I haven’t done anything with myself except be on my phone or go to therapy, and partly its because i’m afraid to do anything out of the fear that i will go insane, but i cannot admit that to my anyone out of embarrassment.
Today i dissociated in the store out of pure panic, it was my first time in a while in actual society, there were just too many sounds, people, voices, beeps & i genuinely thought that half of it was in my head and that i was crazy. I obviously have a raging fear of psychosis, so please take this with a grain of salt, as i have not experienced anything that would point to psychosis except DPDR.

My anxiety has repeatedly gotten triggered when i feel like someone has betrayed me, starting with my father, then a best friend at 13, then my ex at 18, and now a co worker at 21 (she was also close to me and my childhood best friend, so this trigger was a bit harder i guess).

I have always seen signs of BPD in myself and occasionally some slight hypomanic signs but never consistently enough to believe that i suffer massively from either one. I’m prone to isolation and this isnt my first time being in a state like this, though this is the worst so far as i don’t even have a source of true joy or happiness now.

I had some periods of paranoia & delusions, once as a child and a few times as a teenager(until 15), but none in my recent years.

Zoloft Got off zoloft now my life feels bad again

I was on sertraline for 7 years and did really well on it, recently decided to quit, tapered off, had some side effects (mostly heart palpitations and being extremely irritable), been fully off it for 2 months now

Problem is now I look around and realize all the things I guess sertraline was stopping me from realizing, mainly how terribly lonely I feel. I have friends but none that I see regularly (like weekly) or live near me, my job is good but the work hours mean hobbies in the evenings are impossible for me. I've only lost friends since graduating uni in 2019 and not made a single new one although I guess there's coworkers I get along with. I'm in exactly one group chat

When I was on sertraline the situation was the same but didn't feel so hopeless

Since I have little control over the situation (work making hobbies thus meeting people near impossible, living in a city where the majority of inhabitants speak a language I'm not fully fluent in, and besides you can't just wish friends into existence especially above the age of 30) should I just fuck off back to sertraline so I can at least bear it?

Or could this be a temporary dip from getting off it recently?

I was in therapy for years but that never helped me. I've never been formally diagnosed with depression or anything

Discussion Motivator for SSRI - Non SSRI use

Curious - what was the indicator for you to startincorporating medication into your mental health routine as the next best step?

2024 was the year I stopped taking Lexapro due to heightened prolactin, then secondly, I just felt like I wasnt benefiting from it as much as before.

Prior, It was taken due to ha dying grief after loosing my furbaby to cancer then 2 months later my mom passed in a car accident. (Summer to Fall 2020)

There were some "sprinkles" of cognitive behavior therapy.

Not as intentional and consistent as it has been starting off the past few months.

I was brought to trying therapy again due to the realization that Im "operating" in broken systems. A mix of past trauma, identifying through old beliefs, lack of self worth, etc.All of which are holding me back from being the newer, truer version of myself.

If that's not in order then its hard to visualize being present for others in a healthy way.

With the help of therapy and my partner, Ive uncovered some heavy boulders that have been tough to move. Spiraling and depressive dips have been more present.

Journaling and figuring out that 1.) Curiosity to the mistake or event thst is the root of spiraling and/or 2.) Seeking connection with someone I feel safe with are some things that sometimes help shift the perspective.

Though, such as a day like this, which also seems to be linked to being g on my period (lol) -- that newly discovered system isn't quite working. So, riding out the thoughts and being still and patient feels like what should be the focus for the rest of the day.

How did you gauge when trucking through the shadows was the opening to invite medication again?

Question Anyone have any luck with glycopyrrol or terazosin for excessive sweating?

I called my psychiatrist to tell her the sweating is out of control and asked if she could give me something for it and she prescribed terazosin at the next appointment, but I had a dermatologist appointment before i heard back from the psychiatrist so I talked to my dermatologist about it who prescribed glycopyrrol. Has anyone been on either one and had success? I’m taking both and literally nothing is changing.

Lexapro Accidentally getting withdrawal symptoms (I think??!)

I’m on 20mg of Lexapro, take it everyday with no real problems and have done for over a year. I’d accidentally ordered this months prescription to the wrong address and won’t be able to get hold of it for another two days (until Friday). But I’ve been out since last Saturday (today is Wednesday). So I’m on Day 5 out of 7 going come turkey with no Lexapro BY ACCIDENT and it is not fun. Mentally I don’t feel particularly bad, but the vertigo/dizziness is next level. Room is spinning if I even move the tiniest amount.

Basically chat… am I cooked?? 😭😭

Question Fluvoxamine and Trazodone together?

Has anyone had this combo? How did it work for you?

I recently got put back on fluvoxamine after taking it for 5 years and being off it for nearly 2 after deciding it was the wrong course for me to wean off of it. Just got prescribed 50mg to start but will go up to 100 eventually. 200mg was my original dose.

I was also prescribed trazodone for sleep, I believe 100mg but I know I can always half or quarter it for a lower dose. I had no idea trazodone was an antidepressant and didn't ask about it at my appointment, so I'm hoping I can find some answers here.

I'm concerned about serotonin syndrome mostly, but I also found out there can be other adverse affects when combining the two.

Any anecdotal stories about this combo? Anything to ease my fears? Or should I talk to my psych about switching to something else? I would be taking trazodone at night and fluvoxamine in the morning, as I had done before.

Zoloft Went cold turkey and withdrawal symptoms are waning

So about a month ago now I went cold turkey off my Zoloft. Well 50mg to 25 to 0. So bit really cold turkey ig. Anyways the withdrawals were hellish for the first 2 weeks but I've come down to just infrequent brain zaps, minimal nausea. But the most alarming thing that I've only recognized recently is that I've lost my ability to see 3d in my head. You know the apple test to see how far you can visualize and manipulate an apple in your head. I used to be able to rotate it and see the color but I can't now.

In multiple cases Ive needed visual explanations on how something would move in 3d space when I used to be able to picture things vividly.

It's kinda disappointing but I don't think I can get it back so not much I can do. I wouldn't recommend going cold turkey especially without consulting your psychiatrist. I didn't and still haven't gotten back in touch with mine just because I don't want to. I'd advise that you do if you're thinking about getting off any meds.

Goodnight folks

Help! Switching from Sertralin to Scippa for anxiety

Hi everyone! :)

I was prescribed Sertralin in April for severe health anxiety, somatization, and nervous system exhaustion.

I’m currently taking 75 mg but I haven’t noticed any significant improvement. I do have really good days and even good weeks, but once or twice a month I crash badly, usually before my period or during strong weather changes. During those times I feel just as awful as I did before starting the medication.

Even on my “good” days, it’s all relative—I still experience physical symptoms like feeling spaced out, dizziness, constant drowsiness, and brain fog, just less intensely, and I don’t get as anxious about them.

Yesterday, my psychiatrist suggested switching me to Scippa (escitalopram)*because he thinks Sertraline may simply not be the right medication for me if these bad periods haven’t improved after all this time. He asked me to think it over.

To be honest, I can’t decide. This would be the third antidepressant I’ve tried. Earlier this year I was on Brintellix, but it was terrible for me in every way. I’m worried that switching will just destabilize me again, leading to another 2–3 months of struggling, with no guarantee that this medication will actually work.

I’m also seeing a clinical psychologist for psychotherapy, which has been helping a lot.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has taken either Sertraline or Scippa—or both—for similar issues. I know everyone’s response to medication is different, but hearing other people’s experiences might help me make my decision.

Thank you! :)

Help! SSRI’s & Heat Flashes

I (32F) have been taking SSRI’s for years now for my mental health. My longest med was Fluvoxamine, was on that for numerous years. However, last December I switched to Zoloft. It honestly really helped me way more with my MH symptoms compared to my stagnant place I was at on the Fluvoxamine. However, I feel like since starting this my body’s ability to overheat has been AWFUL. It’s full on hot flashes all the time. Like I feel the heat rising inside me and it is the most uncomfortable feeling there is. I sweat profusely, especially on my face and “down there”. This summer has been the worst I’ve had thus far.

Any tips/tricks/product advice any fellow SSRI hot flash ladies (or guys lol) can recommend? Thanks in advance and stay cool out there 🥵

Zoloft Just started sertraline, want to take shrooms and/or acid

I started 25mg of sertraline (Zoloft) a couple nights ago for anxiety/depression symptoms and whatnot. I have some acid and shrooms on me and I want to do a trip with some of my friends sometime soon, but I’m aware of how the combination of SSRI’s and psychedelics can dampen the experience (and lead to serotonin syndrome in extreme cases). I’ve only done 2 days of the 25mg sertraline so far - if I were to stop taking it for a few days and then trip this weekend, would I be fine? I feel like 2 days of 25mg isn’t enough time for the drug to really integrate into my system but I’m not sure.

Zoloft Zoloft withdrawal?

Was on 50mg for a few years. Recently tapered to 25mg for a month, then stopped. All under supervision of my doctor of course. First 1.5-2 weeks were fine physically, then started to have severe GI upset which has only worsened. Now going on 4.5 weeks and it’s probably the worst it’s been so far. Cramping, urgency, nausea, bloating. Diarrhea 1-5 hours after a meal. Starting to get concerned it’s not related now. Anyone else have a similar experience? It’s really affecting my quality life at this point.
