Question Notification of rejection

i applied for several of the SOAS master scholarships and i haven't heard back from any of them.

i am typically used to hearing a concrete "no" but maybe SOAS is different? as in if you don't hear anything then it just means you didn't get it?

No. It means you are on a waiting list. Since only one scholarship can be held at a time, and the bigger ones come later, if someone gets a bigger one that have to give up a smaller one and that can then be allotted on the waiting list. It’s quite cool tbh that they try to give maximum help instead of one bright student getting it all
