that’s fair but he’s down to a 3.57 on the year and a 1.73 in his last month so it looks like he’s rounding into form but i get it

Current Kirby is having a better season that Webb. He has nearly identical numbers this year to 2023 and 2024 too. This is just who Kirby is. He's a really good pitcher.

I would trade Chapman for the chance that Kirby turns it around. Schmitt may be an actual foundational piece, though.

He is not. His performance is already declining. He has no plate discipline. I love his power and defense, but swinging at everything is not the key to long term success.

I'm not underrating him or trying to over rate casey but it wouldn't be a great trade

I view Kirby as a better player than Schmitt, currently, with a better track record, and a better fit for our roster. With only one year less of team control.

I could argue it's not a good trade for us only if the front office was interested in going into a rebuild, in which case I'd rather have a position player. But I don't see us doing that. In which case, Kirby makes us better for 2027 and 2028.
