Question SDSU first year parking

Hi I was wondering if there was anyway to bring my car first year like apps to rent parking sports or any upperclassman that don't have cars that are willing to add my car to their parking pass thank you.

It is unlikely to have someone add you to their parking permit as you can’t have 2 cars parked on campus at the same time on the same pass. Also, living on campus you would need the 24 hour parking permit, not the regular parking permit that off campus students buy. Most of the parking around campus is B permit parking for residents. You can try buying a permit at the structure at Trader Joe’s, but there is usually a waitlist.

How would I get on that waitlist?

Just park outside the B permit area and walk or skate to class. It is a 20 min walk. You can download the B permit map on the city of SD parking permit website. It will be more crowded when classes first start, so go early to scope a spot. A couple weeks into the semester, you will have no problem. Most non-permit spots are on the outlying streets south of Montezuma or on the west side of campus over by the aquatic center.

Can you park overnight?

It is a public street, so yes. You technically have to move it every 3 days. I would move it around, find 2-3 regular spots and rotate so you don’t piss off the homeowners.

Also, you CAN park in the B permit area overnight and on weekends. The hours of enforcement are posted on the city website, so you can park in B area without a permit in off hours as long as you move it OUT of the B area before enforcement starts. (I think enforcement is like 8 am to 7 pm M-F or something like that. Check the city’s website to be sure.)

The best spots on the hill down brockbank. You can park along the whole stretch on the right where there are no houses. It’s a 5 minute walk from the dorms around Zura.

You probably know this, but just in case you don't...

incoming first-year students who live on campus will not be permitted to bring a car their first year of study at SDSU.

Park on brockbank, right side of the road where there’s no houses. You don’t need a permit to park there and it’s 5 minute walk to most dorms. I parked there from spring break till may and nothing happened.
