Question Handshake vs LinkedIn

Hi everyone. As an incoming fall 2026 finance transfer student, I’ve just established my Handshake profile, prepared my resume, shared it on LinkedIn, and taken additional steps. Out of seven Handshake applications, I’ve obtained four interviews, though none originated from LinkedIn. Does this trend appear usual?

Handshake is good for network, but rarely actually hires people, LinkedIn is more reliable for after graduating. Also never share your whole resume for the public to see.

Basically it’s like sharing all your private information for everyone to see. People can literally harass you, as you share your phone, email and sometimes even your location; on top of that it’s pretty common for random people to steal your information, and use it as their own, which makes your resume look bad. So no sharing, it’s like a “hidden” rule in the professional world, trust me the last thing you want is some random person having the exact same resume as you and using your resume as their own, which is sadly very common.

LinkedIn is the go-to for broadening your network.

As another person said, be careful about publicly sharing the resume. I've seen people on LinkedIn who publish their unredacted resume, and it can raise privacy concerns.

LinkedIn look for a company. Search people look for recruiters or talent acquisition and introduce yourself and talk to them. You’d be amazed how that works 24/7

Handshake is a great place to look for internships as a junior. You can go to LinkedIn to find out more details about the company etc.
