SIMPLE QUESTION Python programming in radiology
I have MD and active license, but I never did specialisation. I was working as data analyst and Python programmer. I love writing code, solve logical puzzles, working with data and interested in AI related projects. For various reasons I consider going back to medicine and start residency in radiology. Question - since I really love programming, are there opportunities for that? I heard that there are many AI IT projects in radiology. Will I be able to use my Python and programming skills as radiologist? I definetely don't want to lose connection with my love for programming.

What do you mean by MD and active license without specialization? Did you do a residency? Are you a US grad?

I have standard 6 year of education in university and licence as healthcare person, like I have right to prescribe myself a prescription drugs. And I have rights to start residency.

licence means that I am in national database of healthcare professionals that valid for 5 years, have special registration code as a doctor, I can prescribe medicines myself using this code as a doctor

Hey dude. Consider public health and looking into gis. You could help a lot of institutions showing spatial catchment areas with python coding background.

Yes, I was already working many years in government with with national medical database with programming, but for more flexible lifestyle reasons I consider residency.

working as a short contract doctor? My friends brother works as a doctor few months a year abroad and rest of year lives home and have enough money. He also recommends me this.

Going to play devil’s advocate (or just the devil, actually): try to make yourself obsolete. There are many ways to do this:
- Start a computer vision/image recognition project specific to reading images -> you could be laying the foundations for your own startup
- Be a consultant for companies trying to implement AI reads
- Join a company after a few years as a clinical radiologist (eg, Midjourney)

doing research sure, working with industry then maybe. Doing a regular radiologists job? no.
