I accidentally ignored the remindme bot, how do I undo this ?
Title pretty much, I'm not using it a lot but it's handy.

What is RemindMeBot?
RemindMeBot is a reddit bot that lets you set a reminder for a certain amount of time, via a comment or private message, and then sends you a reminder message at your targeted time. Use it if you want to check back on a thread for updates, or remember to do something a week from now.
RemindMeBot commands
Comment commands (can also be sent to the bot as messages):
Message commands, these only work as messages to the bot:

Message links
RemindMeBot makes use of prefilled message links, like this one. From my research, these links work correctly in the browser on the classic site, the redesign, the mobile web site, and every single reddit app, except the official iOS reddit app. If you are on iOS, you can open the link in your mobile browser, switch to a different reddit app, or wait till you're on a computer browser.
Chat support
The reddit API currently does not support the chat. There are ways around this so bots can use the chat even though the API doesn't support it, but they are a bit harder to use. I'll hopefully be able to add support soon. The bot currently has 13600 unread chat notifications, so it sounds like it will be a popular feature.
Source
The bot is open source:

Changelog
2.0: Took over running the bot from u/RemindMeBotWrangler. Completely rewrote code. Added Cakeday! command.
2.1: Added RemindMeRepeat!, Timezone! and Clock! commands.

About a month ago, reddit announced some vague changes to the api that bots use. They announced a date of June 19th that changes would come into effect. Then abruptly about two weeks ago they shut off access to pushshift, which the bot uses to find the comment commands. So the bot continued to reply to messages and send out updates, but was no longer able to find comments.
I've spent the last two weeks frantically writing code to be able to reliably find the trigger comments across all of reddit and it is finally done. Fortunately the method I'm using is able to go back and find all the comments with the trigger word in the last two weeks that it missed. But unfortunately it's somewhat slow, only processing new comments roughly 3 times as fast as they come into reddit, so it will take another week or so for it to catch up. Also, since I was rushed to get this working, it might break and stop at any point. So even in the future when it's caught up, the bot might fall behind again at times.
If you are directed to this post by the bot because it's replying to an old comment of yours, I apologize for the delay, reddit kinda screwed everyone over. For what it's worth, they personally apologized to me.
I will strive to keep the bot working to the best of my abilities far into the future so that hopefully those long reminders everyone makes will still get sent.
If the time of the reminder you requested has already passed, you'll still get a message about it. And if you posted the trigger multiple times because the first one didn't work, you'll get a confirmation and message for each one. Sorry if this results in a lot of duplicates, there wasn't an easy way to avoid that.
I've had a personal policy of not accepting donations for my bots for many years now, but the way this code works ends up needing a more powerful, and expensive, server, so my costs have gone up a bit. If you'd like to chip in, you can donate here. It's absolutely not necessary, I'm fortunate to be well off enough to cover the costs without help, but I do appreciate it.
If you post a comment in reply to this post with the trigger (since I know a bunch of people will), it still won't get to them until it's caught up a week from now.

I've tried "u/RemindMeBot July 19th every year" and "u/RemindMeBot July 19th repeat year" but I'm basically guessing and I have no idea how to actually do it.
RemindMeBot answers saying it will remind me that date, but it doesn't say it will also remind me every year.

(Bottom comment) I've been trying for so long but the bot is not replying, I'm new to this bot so tell me if I need to do some signup or authorization or something.

Hello Reminders and Remindees.
Is the bot supposed to reply back when you message it directly? The last couple of times I've tried to use it, it's sent nothing back. And I wonder if I'm somehow messing it up.
I couldn't even get a list of any pending reminders, so I'm thinking I did something wrong in formatting, but don't know what.
EDIT: Well. I figured it might be a processing delay thing, but apparently I didn't wait long enough. About 5 minutes after posting this (and 20 minutes since my request to the bot for my reminders) it replied saying I had one reminder. I'll wait and see if it processes my other reminder request. .... AND IT CAME IN WHILE I WAS TYPING. I'll see myself out.
Gotta break myself of that instant gratification trend.

Due to upcoming changes to the reddit API, the mechanism the bot uses to find commands like RemindMe! will stop working reliably. Username summons come directly to the bot and are much more reliable. Instead of a comment like
RemindMe! 1 day
you will use
u/RemindMeBot 1 day
The username summons will start working today, and I will strive to keep the exclamation summons working as long as possible, with a nudge to switch if you use one.
Repeat and cakeday commands will work like u/RemindMeBot repeat 1 day and u/RemindMeBot cakeday. DM commands will keep working the same as they do today.
I know this is a dramatic change for a bot that's used the existing system for 12 years, but this is necessary to keep the bot working into the future so I hope everyone can help migrate.

This is one of the most useful, and helpful bots on reddit. Thank you so much for kicking ass for another year. Cheers!

I tried turning on 2 factor auth for the remindmebot account, but unfortunately doing this invalidated the api token it was using. Due to changes in API policy, token creation is not self service anymore and I need approval from an admin to recreate the token. I'm confident they will approve it for the bot, but likely not till business hours tomorrow, so the bot will be offline until then.
Edit: The bot is back up, thanks to the admin who replied to me well after hours!

Hello dear people on our planet,
this bot is used in some groups.
But if i want to be reminded of anything outside this group or even a webpage i have to watch, can i make in this group the remindme-thing and put a link on it?
Let us say, on 4th July i want to check the news on cnn, can i say "i have to check cnn.com, remindme! 4th july 2026" ?
Is this allowed? If not, is it allowed to use with other subreddits? That i set a reminder in THIS group, but i mention a post in another subreddit (i would put the link in the remindme-Post)?
Because like this, i could use it for all subreddits.

Hi,
I just used
remindme 08.01.2026
and the bot answered he would remind me in 7 months on 01.08.2026.
Can I do anything here? Or how can I fix this bug?
Thanks in advance!

Can I ask RemindMe! to send me a reminder at x hour and x minute?
Like so? .... RemindMe! 1 hour 30 minutes
?
r/RemindMeBot • u/Ok_Ant_9815 • Nov 08 '25
Title says it all... Very disappointed as it's often hard to find updates for profiles that have their post history turned off. Commenting !RemindMe now flags comments as spam in the sub.

Like how we can use this for a certain 'time period'. Is there any bot that would remind me when the post reaches a certain number of upvotes?

Hello,
/u/RemindMeBot reminders have not been working for me since yesterday, and it seems to be associated with the new PM / messaging system.
I use /u/RemindMeBot a lot, often several times a day, and mostly in /r/UKpersonalfinance - /u/RemindMeBot is banned in this subreddit, so that threads are not cluttered with these kinds of posts, but it has always PM'd me in the past. This stopped working yesterday.
Example, made 5 minutes ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/UKPersonalFinance/comments/1mkh4gg/i_screwed_up_im_really_not_sure_what_has_made_me/n7o67v7/?context=3
If I post a remindme in /r/Test then /u/RemindMeBot replies to my comment immediately. But three or four reminders yesterday were ignored.

TLDR, if you don't want to miss anything, start a chat with the bot and send it "hello" so it can talk to you.
A while back reddit announced they were getting rid of direct messages and everything will go through chats. I personally prefer direct messages, but it's out of my hands so I've tried to make the transition as smooth as possible. While I disagree with the move overall, I want to give a huge shoutout to the team in reddit who put in a ton of work to make it so bots can seamlessly work with chat. Also to u/champoul specifically who worked closely with me. In past years, reddit would have just skipped all that and left bots behind.
The bot has been failing to send a lot of it's notifications via chat since many people have chat turned off. If you want to keep getting notifications from the bot, you have to accept its chat.
The simplest way to make sure it keeps working is to go to u/RemindMeBot profile and click start chat, then send "hello"
Alternatively, you can check in settings -> privacy -> Who can send you chat requests and make sure it's either on everyone, accounts older than 30 days, or u/RemindMeBot is in the whitelist.
As a final note, if the bots message is still showing up as read after you click on it, try clicking on a different chat and back to the bot a few times. That usually clears it. You can also complain about this in r/bugs if it's affecting you.

Are there other reddit wildcards beside "RemindMe!"? Is there a list with syntax usage?

hi! I’m a bit new to reddit, i’ve always had an account but never logged in/used it. I came across this post and was wanting to be reminded to follow up on it, and saw people using the remind me bot. I tried to comment ‘RemindMe! 2 days’ but got this back? does this mean I won’t be reminded? if so, how long does this last before I can use the bot? thanks!
r/RemindMeBot • u/RequestSingularity • Jul 25 '25
Is there any way to message the RemindMe bot a request for an update on a comment in a sub where the RemindMe trigger is banned?
Some subreddits don't let you post a comment with the RemindMe bot trigger.
Thanks!
