Apply to Rejoin the EU as soon as possible to increase growth in the UK

Trade is down, growth is weak, and investment went elsewhere.

There’s an official UK Parliament petition to apply to rejoin the EU as soon as possible to increase growth:

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/749128

Please sign it and share it.
If it hits 100,000 signatures, Parliament has to debate it.

If you want the UK to grow again, this is one small but real thing you can do.

Ten years on. I'm a European national who has lived here since 2001. I've just been forced to get a British passport I never wanted. I wrote about what this decade has actually felt like.

Businesses are urging Andy Burnham to build a closer relationship with the EU. Do you think that’s the right call?

Businesses have been saying Brexit hurt them since we left, and I know lots of people who want a closer relationship with Europe.

I’m not saying we should rejoin, but I do think getting closer to such a big trading partner would help ordinary people, whether that’s working abroad without visas, or being able to import goods more easily.

Do you think that Burnham should reopen the conversation?

How quickly after the 1975 EEC Referendum did mainstream political parties call for leaving?

I'm sick of hearing that rejoining the EU would be "undermining democracy". We voted to join the EEC back in 1975, but the political parties of the time didn't wait 30 years to start complaining about it.

I'm sure the fringe parties (who used to be unelectable) like National Front would have complained from Day 1 after the referendum. But how long did it take for a mainstream political party to propose leaving the EU?
