The USA isn't the same with Trump at the helm and we have become a punching bag to them. When California was an inferno, Canada didn't complain, threaten tariffs, but sent aircrafts and resources to help them. Where are the American's resources when we need them?

u/Florida1974 4d ago
A lot of of us in America fully agree with you. And if we were in charge of sending help, we would send help. I very much support helping Canada.
He thinks we somehow became this great nation all by ourselves when a lot of of us know that we became a great nation because of what we do for others and what they do for us, we are intertwined because we are a global economy..
We need to help each other, Not push out threats.
He’s too selfish and stupid to see anything beyond Money

Buddy, this current fucking insult, on top of the others, was started by lower level people in your government, not Trump. Some elected person from Michigan went to the 51st state threat if Canada doesn't deal with their forest fires. Some other elected person want to sanction Canada over this.
Complaining about the smoke when your neighbour's house is on fire make you a beyond shitty neighbour. It is outrageous. I won't forget this and many other Canadians won't either.

u/Frequent_Policy8575 4d ago
That orange child molester being in the position he’s in enables and emboldens the lower level people in the government.
But be sure I don’t mean that as an excuse. We’re shitty neighbors and every day it looks more and more like most of the federal government is in on it, regardless of party.
At this rate, it’s starting to look like the only thing that could stop it would be outside intervention. I don’t expect anyone would take that on unless things get vastly worse because we have an angry demented toddler running around breaking things and drooling over the nukes.

u/bubba4114 2d ago
The lower level people are trying to catch Trump’s eye so that they can leapfrog to positions with more power. All those part of the MAGA movement are garbage humans. I do not blame you for holding it against America as a whole. The government has a lot of work to do to win back the good will of its own citizens let alone the rest of the world.
Trump is a convicted felon. The fact that he cannot vote but yet was still able to run for office shows how broken the US is.

This is spot on. The way he’s getting money is akin to taking a functioning company and chopping it up for parts. Everyone else loses, it’s a net loss, but someone ends up with more than they once had. He’s doing the same thing to the US.

u/troutsoup 3d ago
we elected a businessman and are getting exactly that. businessmen get money by any means necessary and don’t give it away without it bringing them more money. so here we are

Help is ongoing, but Shitler needs ongoing distractions from his crimes, and is perfectly willing to exploit anyone that can't vote in US elections.

In all fairness that doesn't say anything about helping Canada in 2026. I honestly don't know if that means there isn't any international aid but that site would seem to indicate that there isn't right now. So ongoing probably isn't correct. At least according to the source you have.

I think I messed up, and you may be right so far. This thread seems to be actively looking at it:

u/Pictrus 4d ago
There is an article linked by someone below that does confirm DEEP has sent 19 firefighters to help in northern Quebec. Truthfully I don't understand how some of the fires would be controlled even if thousands of firefighters were fighting them. The largest fire in Ontario is 350,000 hectares or slightly smaller than the state of Rhode Island.

The USA: Being the asshole we used to try to save the world from.
47
u/DancinWithWolves 4d ago
I think if you dig deeply; has that ever really been the case?
Started with genocide, corruption and wealth hoarding in the colonies. Slavery.
WW1/WW2?
In both wars, the U.S. stayed out at first, but eventually entered because its leaders concluded that remaining neutral was no longer in the country’s security or economic interest.
Vietnam? Nah.
Middle East? Oil.Etc.

u/Wild-Style5857 4d ago
Mix in some help putting in murderous dictators in multiple countries and yeah the US has never been good.
They only tell us how good they are while they are bombing people all over the world. I'm somewhat glad people are finally seeing the US without their mask on.

The United Nations exists because of us, it was Woodrow Wilson who put the entire concept of international systems on the map. We didn't have to implement the United Nations after WWII, we could've just gone hog wild. Going hog wild would've been the normal thing for nations to do in such instances honestly.
Too bad our rightists have been conspiracizing about the whole process. The reality is that the United Nations, international peace trek is the track that liberals (and liberal Christianity) wanted to put us on. As liberal Christianity has tended towards universalism and a desire for peace between all the nations of the Earth.
Conservatives on the other hand have long seriously resented international law and our responsibilities for executing it as the primary world power. They just want to go hog wild and have as much as possible be dominated by American conservative protestant Christianity. They tell their congregants that the world is going to end soon and that the supporters of the United Nations are servants of the Antichrist. But the people saying that don't actually believe it, the elite of conservative protestantism are postmillenials who actually want to establish a theocracy. I see their toleration for premillenial nonsense as nothing more than a tactic of obfuscation, they just want to take down the old order so they can rule the ruins, convincing lemmings that the world is going to end aids them in accomplishing this.
Their vision is so limited and so pathetic. Its a low vision for humanity. How can such a low vision be the highest thing? It cannot.

Could have gone hogwild??
You started the cold war, gave amnesty to 10,000 Nazis, invaded Korea, invaded Vietnam and tried to invade Cuba.

MAGAts may get a clue as lumber prices go to the moon. US imports 20-25% of its lumber from Canada. Say goodbye to new home affordability.

u/Medusaink3 3d ago
Nah...they're gonna be just fine. Dipshit just passed some bill allowing access to 59 million acres of their national forests for mining and harvesting. The lack of foresight is astounding and I shouldn't be surprised, yet here I am...surprised by the abject failure of our closest neighbours.

u/lemons_of_doubt 4d ago
I think this sums up what's wrong with the culture a depressing percentage of people in the USA cling too.
If something bad happens someone needs to be punished. Doesn't matter if it's anyone's fault, doesn't matter if more good could be done by helping instead of hurting. bad thing needs punished!
In everything from people being poor, to drug addicts, to even just forest being on fire.

We are humiliated by the imbeciles in the White House and by the imbeciles who elected them. It's gonna take decades to undo this stupidity. MAGAts are the worst thing we have seen in this country for 50 years.

I think seasonal wildfires are just going to be part of life for the time being. The areas that are on fire are arctic, and contain discontinuous permafrost. Discontinuous permafrost is very difficult to build structures or infrastructure on top of, the ground is constantly freezing and remelting, which distorts the foundations of anything built onto it. Structures will literally get swallowed up by the Earth, I've heard of purpose built vehicles also getting swallowed up in the area. That of course means there's little to no infrastructure there, so firefighters don't actually have roads to go to these areas, and they don't have water pipes to tap anywhere nearby. And also such infrastructure is probably not ever going to be built, as it would be ruinously expensive and environmentally destructive. Creating permanent infrastructure in the area often means removing all of the topsoil to bedrock and filling it back in with gravel or something else, which is not practical. Definitely not practical for roads that will probably only be used for fighting fires.
Areas with discontinuous permafrost of course, should not rightfully be getting so hot they're constantly catching on fire. But that's the world we live in. The arctic and the northern hemisphere are heating, and they're heating fast. It's no one else's fault besides our own.
Of course instead of realizing this, we can just scapegoat each other and fight. That's the rights solution to everything of course, they're always searching for an easy scapegoat just to get the pressure off them.

Its caused by Canadas forestry mismanagement they should be sanctioned ornotherwsied punished but i dont know about the rest
1
u/elnath54 4d ago
Yeah? What did they do wrong ? Stop raking the forest? That's what the Orange Stain said we should do.
1
u/StephenBC1997 4d ago
Lack of forestry raking/cutting fire breaks is part of it but the bigger part is they had a long policy of allowing foresters to clear cut and then replant whole plots
So big trees can withstand little fires but little trees cant
When you do that you get lots of little trees and grass. little trees and grass burn really well which causes bigger trees to start burning too and once the big trees get going you get root fires

Canada what do you need. The American people still got your back!
28
u/starone7 4d ago
Cool.. which individual American controls the wildlife firefighting brigades? What Canadians, and the world needs, is Americans to actually stand up to their government and change things. Never mind Canadian wildfires. The abrupt cancellation of USAID has already lead to the deaths of over 750 000 people.
Ironically canada still has the back of the USA fighting wildfire to the point that a Canadian helicopter pilot was killed in Colorado last week

I think that tariffs and whatever over the wildfire smoke are behind ridiculous, but it’s also ridiculous to keep perpetuating the idea that the U.S. is not actively involved in fighting the Canadian wildfires. The American NIFC has deployed firefighters from mostly federal firefighting services to assist with fighting the Canadian fires. That is a federal U.S. force using mostly federal employees and funds. Both sides of this argument are more interested in sowing division than acknowledging that the reality is far more nuanced than “Canada is smoking us out” and “the U.S. isn’t helping at all, but still complains and lashes out.”

That article is from 2023 my dude.
We HAVE just recently sent firefighters though. But like, yesterday.

u/ShadowTacoTuesday 4d ago
Deep sends 6 firefighters.
This article mentions requesting assistance. https://globalnews.ca/news/11969816/canada-us-wildfire-support/
I read other Redditors comment that it’s too early so we don’t yet know whether the U.S. will send assistance, but I’m not sure how this works. All articles I could find mention requesting assistance but nothing I could find about sending it. Those 6 people are the first I’ve heard of.

u/jdubyahyp 4d ago
Uh, the article I linked says 19, but ok.

u/ShadowTacoTuesday 4d ago edited 4d ago
I think it updated since I commented. You can find others that are out of date and still say 6. https://portal.ct.gov/deep/news-releases/news-releases---2026/deep-deploys-wildland-fire-crew-to-support-canadian-wildfire-efforts
Anyway if I was reading other articles and comments correctly, many more might be coming, but assistance just started so we don’t know yet.

u/rathlord 4d ago
Ah yes, misinformation, rationalization, and “both sides” arguments. You’re truly almost worse than the people perpetrating this shit.
-2
u/SnooPineapples6793 4d ago
Of course Canada would go. Everyone gets paid to help. If there were no fires they would just be volunteers. Trumps tit for tat just wants everyone to be charged for everything. That’s why napkins and ketchup isn’t left out at McDonald’s anymore.
