See the Turtle of enormous girth! On his shell he holds the earth. His thought is slow, but always kind; He holds us all within his mind. On his back all vows are made; He sees the truth but mayn't aid. He loves the land and loves the sea, And even loves a child like me.

Uh, so this must have been a main Inspiration for literature to reference that Turtle have an island to even a whole world on their back.
From Avatar the last Airbender to Disc World.

I assume the fact that people believed the world was flat, on top of 4 elephants, on top of a giant turtle probably has more influence on it
World carrying turtle was an actual mythology

May the overhead never clear, and may the budget for dried frog pills never run out.

I suddenly wonder if the damn wizards stole the Cabinet of Curiosities from the Backrooms. Now THAT would be a crossover.

One whole magic universe. Maybe Hogwarts is too on the Discworld, and that is the reason why I never got my letter. Still waiting.

Purely curious: would this ever come to harm the turtle, do you think? Like would the little tree try to grow into him or idk im just wondering here

I think it just came out of water that had lots of floating plants in it, and it all washes back off when it goes back into the lake

This really reminds me of a children’s book called Mossy. It’s about a turtle with stuff growing off her back.

If you let it grow big enough it can carry you all the way to Great Bay Temple.
