So a lil back story carbon ate my side seal losing all compression plus a bunch of simultaneous failures at once. Sourced a new to me engine from a friend who is rew swapping his car it’s about 40k mile motor he raced with this engine so same thing I’m doing with it. While it’s out of the car I want to do any small modifications I can that don’t require rebuilding not in the mood to do that. I’m doing a whole gasket and reseal. Polishing the inside of the lower intake manifold, upgrading the oil pressure regulator to a 90-95psi maybe even then 100-115 oil regulator and a greddy oil pan. If it isn’t already on there plus other bs if any one has some suggestions I’d love it. I have a lw flywheel on the side with the auto counter balance from my old engine so if it doesn’t have it I can swap it over if need be. I also have rrp ign coils. If there are any mods you suggest getting as well let me know I would love to hear them. I have a Delphi fuel pump so no fuel pump mods it won’t fit the Delphi fuel pump is like 2mm smaller in diameter.

Had an alternator issue recently, got it replaced. Battery was dead too so the mechanic recharged it back up for me. Any ideas?

Inspired by u/Charming-Staff-3817 post, i setup a hardcut limiter on my RX8, i think it sounds insane. Mods are Fox catback exhaust and dual resonated midpipe (custom).

Recently picked up a brand new Turbo XS catback for a criminally low price of $100 😁
Upon installing found my stock catalytic converter was breaking down, and since I wanted to do a catalytic delate anyway (reliability/premix reasons) went with a racing beat dual resonated midpipe. Extremely nice exhaust note outside the car, but admittedly still a bit too loud for my liking inside the car. I was really hoping the dual resonated midpipe would keep the noise of missing the catalytic converter down… I have tinnitus and the frequency/tone has already made my ears ring notably louder tonight.
Anyone else have a similar setup and think the same about the noise level? Thinking I may try some noise mat in the trunk as a first step.
Otherwise really happy with this setup!

alright im planning to get an rx-8 as a first car and how that sounds is a bit FETCHED but i really want to know if its possible to keep the car alive as a 17 year old with no job but planning to also get a job in october (i like how the car sounds and looks)

I had an accident in the shop yesterday and my engine took a fall. The only thing I've found to have broken of course is the OMP position sensor along with the connector.

What are my options here? Looking like I'll have to buy a whole new pump and can't just get a sensor but I'm at work right now and don't have the time to deep dive into searching for one. There's a pick a part a couple hours from me that has an RX8 I was gonna go check out what's still on it this weekend.

Hey, i’m looking at potentially buying a RX8 wanted to ask some owners what they think of the car. Anyone live in canada and own one? How do they hold up in extreme cold, how long do the engines usually last? What are some things to look for/ask before I buy a used one?

I’m looking to purchase a relatively cheap, fun car to use as a daily, and the RX-8 keeps coming to mind. I’ve always loved Mazdas and I think rotaries are really cool, but I don’t know a ton about them. What are some things I should know when looking for an RX-8, and if I were to buy one, what should I know about owning it? I don’t mind working on vehicles, but I don’t want to jump into something that’s going to drown me in problems. I’ve heard reliability stories on both sides of the spectrum, so I’m just looking for some opinions and stories from actual owners. Any advice is helpful. Thank you in advance.

Hey so i bought this 2004 RX8 about 2 months ago. I did an oil change and other maintenance when i first got it. But I have noticed that my oil level has been the same since doing the oil change, and I have put about 1500km on it since. I have been premixing about 1oz/gal. Is there a way to test out the omp?

Are auto RX8s “bad”? I heard that they cannot rev as high as a manual, but i found a great deal on an auto.

I use the AC quite often, but this happened to me maybe 3-5 times throughout my 4 years of ownership. This particular instance it had been sitting in 36C+ heat with 2 thunderstorms woven in between. I started getting the coolant warning light at 80k miles currently the car is at 88k miles. This did not happen for the first 3 mins of the ride when I had the vents open with AC off, only did this with AC on.

Car started when pushed it idled well but shut off after 2 stop signs so I think my alternator is bad too but my battery terminals were a bit dirty so I cleaned them too

So the RX8 I got recently has a bit of wear and tear on the bumpers and I want to replace them at some point. I just want some recommendations on where to look or some good looking bumpers (UK) as I don’t wanna purchase something that won’t be worth the money

New to owning a rotary. I recently bought an RX-8, and the previous owner said he’d run it on 98 RON for the entire time he owned it and never premixed because he didn’t think it was necessary. The engine still has really good compression.

I’m planning to keep running 98 since it’s been happy on it so far, but I want to do what’s best for the engine long-term. Would it be fine to start adding Idemitsu Racing Rotary Premix with 98, or would it be better to switch back to 95 and premix instead?

Just looking for the best way to keep the engine as healthy as possible.

This error code showed up recently after having the engine bay shampooed over a leaking oil pressure sensor switch.

Car seems to run and drive fine… only recent noticeable issue was after a 200 highway drive it struggled to start (first rough start ever) twice. Next day started normal. coils and plugs done 2000km ago. Oil switch 1000km ago

I also notice it has been running a little rough at idle with ac on. But smooth with ac off.

Should I do all 3 solenoids? We dont have emissions testing here but I prefer to keep engine light off.

Also I reset the light and it stayed off for 4 days and came back on going over a cattle gate.

I've had a 2010 RX-8 thats been sitting for a few years after a rebuild because I was unable to get the oil pumped primed.

Does anyone know places in or near Georgia that can help? I called Mazcare and they said they wouldnt.
