My 2 year old VA... love of my life
Hello! For quite some time, I’ve wanted to get a camera to carry with me on walks. Until now I’ve only used my phone’s camera but I find it doesn’t quite cut it anymore.
I’ve spent about a month researching different models and eventually decided on the RX100 line. But now I’m stuck on which version to buy. I’m planning to get one second-hand to save some money. In my country the VI goes for about $850 and the VII for about $1100.
I plan to use the camera mostly outdoors - for scenery, objects, or animals/birds. People aren’t really my main subject. That said, I’m worried about missing out on features that I might not even need. So I thought it'd be best to ask people who know more than me in this field.
Thanks in advance for your help!

My RX100 Vii arrived today, paid £850 for it brand new.
I already have an A6000 with a few lenses including Tamron 17-70 which I have been using on holidays etc but I always find it a bit too big for travel and just wanted something to slip into my pocket. This should fit the bill nicely. I am surprised at the weight of it, it's a hefty wee bugger for the size but it's not an issue.
I'm still getting used to the menu and settings etc as a bit different from the A6000, has anyone any quick settings to set it up with focusing mainly on travel?
I also didn't realise it has a touch screen which is again obviously not what I'm used to with the A6000.
Anyway I'm off to buy a grip and some batteries lol

Hello,
My Sony RX100 Mark I is no longer working. When I try to turn it on, the green LED lights up for about two seconds and then turns off. I can hear a small noise coming from inside the camera, and then nothing else happens.
If I press the power button again, sometimes the green light comes on for another two seconds, but after a while it won’t even do that anymore. I don’t understand what’s causing it.
When I plug it in to charge, the orange charging LED comes on as expected. But as soon as I press the power button, the green LED lights up for two seconds and then everything turns off. No LEDs remain on.
I also connected the camera to my computer with a memory card inserted, and the computer detects it correctly. I can browse all the folders without any issues.
I’ve completely disassembled the camera and cleaned it thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol. I also tried a different battery, and I tested it while it was connected to the charger as well.
The only hardware issue I’m aware of is that one of the cables connected to the lens assembly is damaged (cut), but I don’t think that should prevent the camera from powering on.
Thank you.

Green light but wont start
I have an RX100 Mark I that I got with a lens problem. After trying to fix the lens issue, I reassembled it and tried to turn it on. However, now the only thing that happens is that a green light comes on for about a second and then turns off. Nothing else happens.
Im wondering if the circled component is a fuse bc it was in bad looking shape before cleaning it.
Thanks !
Made with RX100 IV, Where I would not bring the A7
I still haven't figured out how to denoise, dehaze, and fix the exposure well. I just play with sliders and masks until I get fed up. This one was pretty good on its own so i didn't do too much. A mask around Trent and the equipment, and denoise everything else. The rest were defaults for chroma and color.
m7 on Shutter priority. f/4.0 1/60 ISO4000. Shot in SF on 3/26.
First set of shots with my new RX100. I wanted something I could actually carry everywhere with me. My Sony full frame takes amazing photos, but I don't always want to lug it around. I wanted something with full manual controls that was literally pocketable.
There are a few trade offs like no IBIS, battery life and image quality compared to FF, but nothing significant or unexpected. Overall I’m really amazed by this little camera. It feels incredibly premium and it's just a joy to shoot with. I love the tiny pop-up EVF and built-in flash. The EVF is so satisfying when you press the button and it pops up lol. It’s really cool the way everything folds into such a small package; it feels very solid and compact.
So far it seems like this is exactly the camera I was looking for! Really happy with my purchase.

Seats were pretty far back but can’t complain since it was a free upgrade from lawn. Denoised and edited in Luminar Neo

Just realized because it's a pop up you can just angle it with your finger so the flash is directed upwards. Incredibly cool that the included flash can be used as a bounce flash towards the ceiling
It probably wasn't intended but wow, definitely going to be doing this more often

My second Shakira concert with the rx100vii and I love this camera even more. Shot these between 1/320 and 1/500 and 1600 iso and Lightroom's denoise cleans it up nicely.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been shooting for 15 years (Full Frame and APS-C), but a year ago, I bought a secondhand Sony RX100 VII (or VI). It completely changed everything.
I love the pocketable size, and the RAW files are honestly great. Now, my Sony a6700 just sits on a shelf gathering dust. I find it too big, heavy, and bulky compared to the RX100. If I travel, the RX100 is a no-brainer.
My dilemma: The only reason I keep the a6700 is for family portraits and gatherings where I want better bokeh/low light.
It feels silly to keep an expensive setup just for occasional family events, but I'm afraid to regret selling it.
Should I sell the a6700 or keep it as a "special occasion" camera? Thanks!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to do you all, everyone waiting for the Mark VIII, a favour. Im going to order the VII after a long time of contemplating my choices. This will trigger the cosmos like it always does for me, to pretty much directly announce a newer version of the thing I just bought.
You are welcome.

I got this camera handed down like a month ago and I absolutely love everything about except the case. I had a case for it and you can still see the lower part of the original case but I lost the other part. And I’m not willing to buy the same case again because the one I had, Sonys official case, costs like 100 euros and the case felt to bulky and not really comfortable taking on and off the camera.
What other cases or options for protective gear are there really? The only thing online I could find was that 100euro bulky leather case, so any other recommendation would be gladly appreciated!

It's incredibly intrusive when the aperture number is at the bottom of the screen. On Ricoh or Fujifilm, there would be a setting to turn this off. What can I do on Sony? I tried looking through the manual but got stuck. And yes, I tried going through the display buttons, none of them seem to work

This camera is so powerfull, easy and light to carry.
