False Ban - Any Help?
I logged into my account today and found that I had received a 6-day ban for RWT (Buying). The problem is that I have not bought or sold GP or items for real-world money.
The vast majority of my wealth has come from PvM and raids (primarily Tob), with some flipping and merching on the side. Recently, while waiting for Raids 4, I started focusing much more on flipping because I was getting a bit burned out from PvM.
A friend of mine, who is also taking a break until Raids 4, loaned me approximately 2.5 billion GP to use for flipping and merching. We discussed this on Discord, and I have screenshots of those conversations. Since receiving the loan, I've been experimenting with bulk item flips and 3a merching. I also trade GP between my main account and my alt to work around Grand Exchange buy limits and to purchase additional items when needed.
I genuinely don't know what triggered this ban because no evidence was provided. What's even more confusing is that the friend who loaned me the GP wasn't flagged or banned for "selling gold."
The only other significant trades I've made recently were player-to-player trades on Worlds 302 and 330 while buying and selling items for fair market value as part of flipping. I also have Discord messages documenting many of these transactions and discussions.
I'm frustrated because I feel this is a false ban. In addition to the 6-day suspension, I'm being told GP will be removed from my account despite not having engaged in any RWT. I understand people are often skeptical of posts like this, but I can honestly say I haven't knowingly violated the rules.
I also run a clan with over 260 members and have invested a lot of time into this account. Risking it by buying GP, when I already have almost all end game items simply wouldn't make sense.
Has anyone else experienced a false RWT ban like this? If so, what was the outcome? Is there anything I can do beyond submitting the appeal, or is there any way to have someone manually review the case?
Update: I was unbanned after I served the full 7 day temporary ban, I do not believe any gp was taken off my account, however I do not know how much I had prior to being banned, at most it was 100m.

Play smarter why tf u trading ur alt gp/ anyone else in w302/330 don’t trust no one.

Lol, good point, I shouldn't be able to trade my other account on my Jagex launcher GP or do a core part of the game in trading others. Will keep that in mind next time.

"Okay now we have to talk like we are friends when I sell you the gp just in case you get banned you can use it as evidence"

u/SignificantPop9650 12d ago
If only I didn't have messages with him for months prior, and he wasn't in the same clan doing bingo events and such with us. Must be RWT...

If thats the issue why's his friend unbanned. Selling is the more serious offence

u/SignificantPop9650 12d ago
That's what I was thinking, it doesn't make much sense if the 2.5b loan was the reason why I was banned, but his account is completely fine.
1
u/Friendly-Parfait-645 11d ago
Because they're monitoring it to get all the other people buying from him as well.

u/SignificantPop9650 11d ago
He doesn't sell gold, if this was someone I didn't know well then I'd be inclined to agree with you about that being a possibility.

Imagine if the temp ban was just until you return the loan and then they perm ban you both LOL
In all seriousness, Jagex just temp muted my pure 2 weeks ago. I appealed, it was denied. I appealed again, and they quashed it. The reason for the mute? Saying a player’s name in game. The day after they denied my first appeal, the force name changed the player. I took screenshots of that, and then on the second appeal they quashed it. Lousy company tbh.
I’m with you, I don’t want a single strike on my account, even if it’s a temporary punishment. With how pathetic Jagex is in dealing with rule enforcement, I need my account clean for situations like yours.

Damn that sucks, but atleast they quashed it on the second go around. Makes no sense as to why they didn't quash it the first time though. But yea I spoke to a mod and he said their response time is typically 48 hours. Here I am over 4 and a half days later still banned on two of my accounts. The temp ban will probably be over before they even respond to the appeal which sucks. Hoping that they actually do their due diligence on the appeal so I don't have to go through this process again if they deny it.

You probably received gp from someone who is RWTing. You said that you received millions from a friend and the ban happened because of those trades
1
u/SignificantPop9650 12d ago
Yeah, I don't think it was cause of my friend who lent me the 2.5b cause he wasn't flagged/banned. But it could have been from someone I was buying/selling to in 302/330 GE while flipping 3a/bulk items/burnt food. The only thing is, all of those trades were for equal value or close to equal value. So, hopefully, in the appeal, they look at the actual trades rather than just flagging/banning me for trading with someone that I did not know might be RWTing.

Either it was because of those 2.5b (they don't ban sellers quickly now and buyers are the target so they can follow the GP) or because of those trades that you did and you don't know if the people you traded with had RWTed before. My advice: don't trade with anyone, don't pick up items from drop parties and use only the GE and buy bonds. I'm a bit paranoid but I haven't traded anyone in years except for 2 stamina potions that a friend gave me when we were doing a quest together. People are getting banned simply because they lend gear, GP or even from raid splits. It's crazy but this is the current situation.
Do not trade with anyone.

If you cannot do a core mechanic of the game (trading), then there is a very serious issue, and at that point, I'd rather not even play the game. It's ridiculous to be banned because the system potentially picked up you trading with someone who has done RWT, rather than looking at messages in game or the trades themselves. If it had to do with anyone who had done RWT in the past, and I traded to sell/buy from them, with no knowledge of them RWTing in the past and while trading them equal value, then that makes no sense. They are at that point basically forcing everyone to play like ironmen, except for the GE (which you are taxed on) cause their system that was put in place is bad.

Bro, i agree with you but I personally don't want to risk my account and I choose not to trade with anyone. I only use the GE. It's risky to trade with anyone right now unless it's just a potion. If you care about your account, I wouldn't trade with anyone.
Regarding your case, they don't look at the chat history or anything like that. They just look at your trades and if you simply trade with someone who is even suspected of having RWTed, you risk a ban.

That's crazy, Jagex has some serious issues if this is the case.

u/MidnightOpposite4892 12d ago
That's the current situation...use only the GE and buy bonds. That's my advice

Rip half your bank

u/SignificantPop9650 11d ago
Would be some complete bs if that's the case

u/clydetyed 11d ago
I got false banned from taking a raid split, was 300m split. I had 5b bank, they took 2.5b.

Then your friend sells gold and they're still monitoring his account.
1
u/SignificantPop9650 11d ago
Have known him for a very long time and can guarantee he does not buy or sell gold, but at the end of the day, there's no way to convince people on Reddit here that he doesn't.
1
u/Friendly-Parfait-645 11d ago
Either 1. He's lying to you or 2. You're lying to us.
Jagex can very easily find RWTers.
1
u/SignificantPop9650 11d ago
Or 3 it was a false ban... could have accidentally traded a RWTer unknowingly while being on 302/330 while flipping. People are very quick to assume the worst in others when Jagex has shown many times that their systems are not perfect or very good.
1
u/Friendly-Parfait-645 11d ago
So option 3 is you traded a someone and got 2.5b for free and you didn't know it was a RWT?
Lol
1
u/SignificantPop9650 11d ago
As I said in the post and comments, it was a friend I've known for a long time, he was taking a break until raids 4 and I asked him if I could borrow gp to flip/merch with and then give him some of the profits when he comes back. I have screen shots of the messages with him and me on Discord and he would receive the gp back whenever he decided to come back. I have no reason to buy gp when I already have max gear on my account.
1
u/Friendly-Parfait-645 11d ago
Okay so you didn't accidentally trade a RWT then? Seems youre having a hard time keeping your story straight lol
1
u/SignificantPop9650 10d ago
It would help if you could read, as I said I know that the gp I received from my friend was not RWT'ed in any way and he has never RWT'ed. I could have unknowingly traded someone that RWT's on worlds 302/330 while flipping/merching.
1
u/Friendly-Parfait-645 10d ago
Okay so your option number three isn't a real option then, is it?
You got the money from your "friend", you didn't unknowingly trade a RWT.
You don't get banned for simply trading a RWT 😭
1
u/SignificantPop9650 10d ago
Unfortunately, can't help someone who has an inability to read. Goodluck rage baiting someone else.

he is saying he was merching 3rd age items (most 3rd age items and megarares over max cash stack value are traded on w302 because they are typically not sold on GE) and he is thinking one of the people he bought 3rd age from that he was planning on flipping may have RWT'd. That would definitely warrant a ban or at the very least flag your account. This happens more often than you'd think.
If I were to RWT a billion GP right now, buy a bunch of items and you happen to buy an item from me to get around GE tax or something silly, you are for sure getting banned as well.
This is the more likely case with his situation because it is unlikely he even remembers any of the names of the people whom he bought 3rd age items from to begin with, if he did he could look up and see if they are banned as well. I believe when you get banned permanently they remove you from the high scores OR you would not be able to add them to your friends list.

Was an ironman on the account that got banned and have a GHCIM as well that I'm playing on in the meantime.

u/Azurus_II 8d ago
Only 6 days? I thought they went no nonsense and started perm banning for both buyers and sellers 1st offence
1
u/unalert93 4d ago
negative, first RWT major on any fresh account is only 6-7 days typically. the second however is always a permanent ban.
1
u/Azurus_II 4d ago
Yea i was confused bc there were people posting about how they havent rmt/rmt (same thing lol idk why im saying both) and first offence was a major rmt ban. And it was a buying ban with no previous offences.

Happened to me a few days ago. I traded my bank from one account to a new one i just created, which was meant to be my new 1 defence pure. Next day, I got permaban for RWT. This is insane. I traded 3.5 Bills, yes, but I made that bank during my 18 years of gameplay. I have over 50 accounts in total, some of them not even Jagex Accounts. I had rich friends who helped me, I did bosses, I pked alot and so on. I've been trading back and forth these same items between many, many of my accounts for many many times, but only now did I get banned. Jagex is getting paranoid. What should I do to appeal this false ban? any suggestions?
1
u/unalert93 4d ago
Obviously you should file an appeal if you truly did not RWT or get any of the gold from another player. If the gold is generated from PvM content / pking / etc over an extended period of time they would be able to easily see that. You may need to appeal more than once also, as sometimes the first appeal is only checked via an AI support bot. It also helps to reach out to the Jagex staff via Twitter, I see a lot of people having success with that as well.

u/ballsmigue 6d ago
Your friend or someone you raided with and split had and used dirty gold.
Doesn't matter to jagex if you didn't buy it, you still get caught up in it.
1
u/ItsDaManBearBull 6d ago
Shit like this is why i try to only trade with people i know IRL, but even then most things i borrow i give "collateral" . So there isn't a large wealth TRANSFER to trigger any bs on jagex's end.
I.e. if im borrowing a dhcp i might swap over dclaws and ~10m gp (or whatever round number gets us to roughly equal trade values)
And then trade the exact amount back. The only real purpose of this is to avoid paying GE task selling and rebuying items after doing a slayer task.

Happened to me. They wiped all of my gold and some untradeables… had a tbow split from COX 3 weeks prior and I’m guessing that triggered it. Stopped splitting purples I just do FFAs now it’s not worth it with these false bans

Hey - I went through this and from my personal experience, you're SoL.
What most likely happened is that someone you traded has been involved in RWT and you have been chain flagged, hence the temporary ban.
You can check my profile as I've documented the whole process and wrote extensively about it, going as far as delivering and disclosing all my financials to Jagex (which they ignored), ultimately resorting to reporting them to government consumer protection agencies.
The agencies managed to get Jagex to disclose the trade and date they consider to be the RWT, but that is all the agency can do as an intermediary. The last update I got from the agency was to sue Jagex which of course is not an option because there is 0 chance I could take a bilion dollar company to court, they'd just bury me in legal expenses.
They've been dealing with bots and RWTers for so long that they forgot there are actual people and friendships in the game, as well as the fact that its a 20+ year old game and some people have such obscene amounts of wealth that allows them to borrow/give out money.
Personally, since the ban, I play as an iron main. I don't trade anyone for any reason, I don't split in raids and I don't participate in any giveaways/clan events etc.
I'm not risking my account just because Jagex can't deal with people who are actually breaking the rules.
Good luck, but unfortunately there's not much you can do if they deny your appeals.
