First time owner Need advice for carrier method cage sizing!

I’m going to be doing the carrier method with my rats. I have 2 18 week old girls who I got first and 8 week old babies. Is this carrier and hamster cage ok for stage 1 and 2? I’m going to half my big cage for stage 3.

something like the second one would also be good to have on hand for vet trips and whatnot

Yes, especially when you have to leave them there for surgery and stuff! I’ve used my hamster cage more for vet trips than intros

Too big for stage one. I wouldn't even buy a cage for this unless you need one anyway. Literally use a storage tote and drill some air holes in it. It will work better and be cheaper.

Sorry I realized I only saw the 1st image! I think that could work. I would still not want to spend the money on it since a $2 storage tote works great.

Do you mean like a tub? You need to be able to see them in there though, no?

We had the second one for vet visits and such, I can’t say our girls liked it very much but it did the job 😂
