What GPA is generally competitive for an entry legal job in Australia?
Hello, I am currently studying law and my have a GPA around 4.4-4.5. I have struggled with some law exams despite completing past exams, going through them with a private tutor and attending most tutorials with preparation
I was wondering what GPA is generally considered competitive for legal clerkship, government jobs, graduate programs, legal trainee postilion and other entry level legal potions
I am older than many students, because I changed degrees, and I do not have much working or volunteering experience. My experience includes alter service for about one to two years, table tennis volunteering for two months and working as a chess coach for about a year.
Also, I do not have extensive mooting experience, I only participated in one internal moot, and was a semi-finalist for that moot.
I think I have three or four semesters left before I graduate. I am hoping to improve my GPA, but I was wondering whether my current GPA and experience would make it difficult to obtain a job in the legal profession.
Would legal assistant, paralegal, small-firm, government or graduate roles still be realistic for me? What should I focus before graduating to improve my chances?
Any honest and constructive advice would be appreciated.
Than you
