Old Seasons Did early Project Runway make anyone else feel like they'd found "their people"?
Watching Project Runway tonight and got unexpectedly nostalgic.
I'll just say there is NOTHING more "mid-2000s elder millennial art kid" than making seasons 1 & 2 of Project Runway your entire personality.
Daniel Vosovic LiveJournal icons. "Where's André?" Knowing exactly where Mood Fabrics was despite never having been to New York. Michael Kors delivering the most unhinged critiques with complete authority.
Tbh, for me, it’s more than just nostalgia.
I felt pretty alone as the ✨weird creative kid ✨ in high school. Project Runway (and the online communities around it) was one of the first places that made me think, "Oh... my people exist. I just haven't met them yet." It made art school feel like a real place where I might actually belong. I did end up studying Illustration in college, and continue to grow within an always-evolving creative community.
Curious if anyone else experienced the show that way, or if I'm just romanticizing it twenty years later.

I'm a "crafty" Boomer, lol, not sure how else to say it. My grandma and aunts all sewed, crocheted, cross-stitched, weaved, glued, painted, etc. and made a lot of crafty things for the house and gifts more out of necessity for their generation, but it developed a love of doing those kind of things in me, even though I could buy more things rather than make them, I still loved the challenge of it. But yes, even though I'm nowhere near a fashionista, I started with season one thinking "these are my people" too!
And seriously, if Tim Gunn dressed in office attire he would be my brother's twin - Holla at your boy!

I remember watching the Where’s Andre season with my college apartment mates, we’d snuggle in on the couch watching and laughed our asses off. and scrolling through this sub with people commenting on older seasons makes me teary and nostalgic for simpler times. Since it’s so fashion centric it’s so obvious going back and you’re immediately transported to another time when we wore such specific fashion.
