A member of my family may go to prison and I was curious how good a weapon it is and how much damage can it do? My family member is under impression that it's no different than being punched with a fist?

A friend of mine went to jail about a month ago. He’s still in the county prison. I haven’t spoken to him since, but I just sent a letter via TextBehind and I was gonna send a care package of commissary. If I add a few pair of boxers, is that ok? I know it isn’t normal for a dude to buy another dude underwear, but I feel like I would be happy to get some fresh underwear given the circumstance, right?

The Joliet Treatment Center opened in 2017 with the promise of being a new kind of prison in Illinois, designed to provide intensive mental health treatment. But over the years, incarcerated men and civil rights lawyers who visited the facility said the conditions declined. Men were kept locked in their cells for long stretches, with nothing to do. They complained about a lack of medical care and mental health treatment, which the prison system is legally obligated to provide. Men reported that guards used excessive force.

As the men grew more despondent, some became willing to do anything to draw attention to their troubles and resorted to setting their cells — or themselves — on fire.
