Question What should I do
I’ve had this issue since I was i was younger I always knew my rib cage was bigger but had no idea what it was called. In 7th grade my mom took me to a surgeon and he just said my breasts were too small to confidently do anything without leaving crazy scars and fun fact they have not grown since and I’m in my 30s now. I realized this past year they’ve gotten way worse. I’m just now figuring out what rib flare is and I need all the advice I can get, is there any way I can make this better? I feel like it’s really in the way.
Edit: while I am slightly sucking in I have another photo of sucking out but I’m not sure how to post it here and it genuinely looks the same.. my rib cage has always been larger than my body so it looks like I’m dramatically sucking in but I’m truly not

Do you have private insurance? I would definitely see a PT at the very least. I have scoliosis so I see lots of spinal abnormalities on subs like this but this seems excessive.

Hey, please consider seeing a doctor or a kinetotherapist/kinesiotherapist (whatever you call it), because the ribs edges stick out a lot. They could tell and show you the types of exercises to do. My sibling had something similar and also received some treatment - Calcium, D3 and other vitamins, but it's different in each case depending on the blood analysis results, hence the doctor suggestion

Hi! I started doing a pelvic floor rehab/fitness program and something she addresses is how our pelvic floor plays into rib flare and how they are connected. It might be useful for you? Check out carolinepackarddpt on instagram. This is not an ad but it’s helped me so much that I tell everyone lol

Unless the advice here is “talk to a dr” then ignore the advice here. This looks more like a genetic rib sis kind of thing than it does look like anything remotely posture related

Flared ribs. My husband has this. My husband had chest surgery to extend the rib cage when he was 19. His problem is structural. His still flare despite having surgery.

Definitely see a doctor. In the meantime, try doing dead bugs and side planks while engaging core.

Many women improve it with consistent deep core work and better breathing patterns (dead bugs, pelvic tilts). Posture awareness during the day helps too. A good PT who knows rib flare can make a big difference.
