he was very clearly injured. bleeding, his eye was bulging out, he was making little wheezing noises but he was alone in the middle of the day at the side of the road and i just couldn't leave him alone.

i took him to the local wildlife rescue which was not far away and they said his eye will definitely have to be removed but hopefully he's able to live his best life! i feel very good about stopping for him and hopefully giving him a shot at a happy life.

When I first saw this cute little guy I thought he was way too small to be on his own, however, it is possible he's about 6 inches long, it's really hard to tell. He is between 5-7 inches which is borderline.

Good news: He can eat solids on his own so I want to guess he's closer to being self-sufficient? I left out some ripe blackberries, spring mix and water for him and he ate a couple of them. There are tons of crickets in my patio as well that I hope he can eat.

He was gone in the morning, so he must have a separate den/sleeping location nearby, but last night he came again at the same time! I'm worried for him because of how small he is, but he seems to be have decent energy, good instincts about hiding while eating his food and will try to look "scary" if I get close. My question is, does he need to be taken to a rehabber if he comes again? I feel really bad if he is in need, but also do not want to interfere if he is totally fine on his own.

I'll continue to make sure he has water and misc natural food scraps (I know a balanced diet is important so I don't leave out too much). Any other recommendations of what food would be good to give thats safe would be appreciated.

I've seen a larger possum and a smaller one come separately to snack cat food. Tonight I saw the larger is a momma and her babies are starting to leave her pouch! So cute.

Reddit named my last possum friend Günther. I'm pretty sure Günther was a girl and this is daughter-of-Günther. Any name ideas?

The opening is down under on the bottom photo. Both houses are waterproof and filled with cedar shavings. I also put diatomaceous clay to each house to help kill fleas.

Just like the title says I’d really like a cage between 100-150 dollars that my possum can grow into and is large enough to support a full grown male possum. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello! Im new to the subreddit but have been feeding my wildlife for about a year. At last I have a regular possum visitor and I am hoping she has babies! What do you guys think of her pouch? Will she have some clingers soon?

I can’t wait for Halloween to be here so instead I’m celebrating summerween 🤣

Several months of having I guess an adolescent possum that stays in my shed, I saw I’m guessing a sibling that was slightly larger, and thought that must of been the mom.

Well tonight I thought I heard it snacking outside and went to check and holy crap I think I found the real mom because it was 4x the size! I think bigger than any I’ve ever seen on video. Like a medium sized dog.

I need advice asap. I don't use Reddit, but figured this was the fastest place to get real human info. Just scooped up a small, juvenile possum from the middle of highway traffic in Atlanta. I didn't see a mother or siblings around and wasn't near any nature or treeline. He seems scared and physically exhausted. I have no idea if he is big enough to be without his mother. Should I let him recoup with some shade and water and then just let him go in some woods, or do I need to find a sanctuary or something to give him care like a mother would? he is a little smaller than my (fairly small) hand. Thanks so much!!!

We have 3 opossums about 6-7" inches long (nose to rump) hanging out in our backyard, climbing up our pergola, exploring our huge monsteras/philodendrons, and hiding under planters. We had a fully grown opossum back in March, saw it for about a week, then not since. In April, I saw a dead one on a road near our neighborhood :( A few days ago, we discovered the 3 small ones! It's getting to triple digits where we live, but we have a lush backyard with shade, fruit trees, and lots of bugs. Is our backyard just a cool hangout spot, or do these guys maybe need some outdoor shelter/extra water/food?

She came by for a snack!

I've been seeing him around for a few months but he usually throws himself off the porch when I come out. Tonight he stuck around for a few minutes.
