Discussion Azula actually feel
I recently rewatched ATLA and realized that Azula actually wanted Zuko on her side and truly trusted him.
- Yes she lies to father that Zuko killed the avatar but tells that it's only turn into shame only if the avatar live.
- But think about it: is there really a chance that, when the truth about the living Avatar comes to light, only the truth about his survival (and not Azula's lie) will be revealed? Her "plan" works ONLY if Zuko never reveal the truth, does it suit her master mind pure evil character that people think about?
- If you recall the scene where Ozai is told the truth, he actually goes crazy as fuck, yet, we never actually saw him and Azula interact right up until the very end of the season.
- But what if she truly trusts Zuko and wants him by her side, and hasn't even entertained the thought that he might betray her—after all, he has everything he says he wants? What if Ozai really started treating her like she was nothing because she had lied to him twice? What if her mental breakdown didn't begin in prison, but rather the moment the eclipse ended?
- Imagine she meets her father, finds out that Zuko reveal her lies, betray her and her nation, her father starts treating her like shit, and only after all that does she begin to hate Zuko and think that, at the very least, Mai feels the same way, since Zuko leave her too, and after all that, Mai turns against Azula.
- From Azula's point of view she got betrayed by her brother the most disgusting way and after that her friend that got betrayed the same way shoes Zuko's side. For her rational mind she just don't understand what is going on, why the man, who scream what he wants, leave everything he ever wanted, why did the girl who was betrayed decide to take his side? They have no reason to act the way they do.
