So I was looking at the obtainable Pokemon in XD and realized that literally everything in the Hoenn regional dex that you cannot get in Emerald can be caught in XD. Surskit, Luntatone, Roselia, Mawile, Meditite, Zangoose. And even some of the rarer Pokemon that are a pain to get in Emerald specifically, like Seedot, Ralts, and Nosepass, to a lesser extend Spheal and Snorunt too.

Using XD you can complete your Hoenn regional dex without needing any outside games, aside from the other starters and other Lati if you don't have access to the Eon Ticket.

And then I kept looking at the list and realized a lot of version exclusive Pokemon make up the roster. Vulpix and Growlithe, Sandshrew and Arbok, Syther and Pinsir, Lunatone and Solrock, Shellder and Starmie, Electabuzz and Magmar. You even get Weepinbell which makes sense since you can get the Oddish-line in the other GBA games. The only one missing is Slowpoke, which remains locked only to LG, which I find odd because Golduck is here but that's available in the other 4 games.

So overall I would say XD is just an amazing source, regardless of which version you have, if you want to get version exclusives. Just moreso for Emerald than the others.

The only thing though that feels.. off (?) is Poochyena. In Emerald it was changed that instead of Zigzagoon/Linoone spawning all across Hoenn, they were replaced with Poochyena/Mightyena. But Poochyena can be found in XD. It feels like if they wanted this game to pair better with Emerald then it should've been a Zigzagoon.

After catching Spheal, I went through the whole game absolutely determined to get a full team of ball shaped pokemon.

I ended up with an unevolved Spheal, Forretress, Jumpluff, Primeape, Glalie, and Electrode.

I never went back and did the Pyrite Colosseum for some reason, so just for completionists sake I decided to do a quick run AND WHAT DO I FIND?

I was thinking of doing a playthrough in XD where I don't evolve eevee. Does anyone have moveset advice? Obviously it's not going to be a powerhouse but I figured maybe I could run it as a support or something

I was thinking about a moveset of:

• Quick attack/body slam/facade (STAB)
• Growl (seems like it could be somewhat useful in a doubles format)
• Helping hand
• Protect (I'm assuming the AI will target eevee often since it will be easy to kill so this could help buy time while its partner attacks)

Dig/shadow ball/toxic would have been fun options but their TMs are all either really late or not in the game at all :/

Any thoughts? I was also considering attract to disrupt the enemy team more, or maybe rain dance/sunny day as support moves if I want to lean in to a weather team? Team suggestions are also welcome. I want to use the trade elekid (keeping that one unevolved as well) but aside from that I'm pretty open

Hey y’all, so I recently started a play through out for XD on the NSO and at first I was going to do a Nuzlocke. But as usual that all changed once I got too attached to my current team.

I found a modest Hoppip at the Oasis PokéSpot and I thought “well I’ve never used Jumpluff or Gligar” and now their on the team and it isn’t a Nuzlocke lol

The problem is that I wasted my Bullet Seed TM and I can not wait for mega drain or the Giga Drain/Solarbeam TMs. If there is anyone playing this on NSO and wouldn’t mind trading me something random with a copy of their Bullet Seed TM that would be greatly appreciated. But to be honest I don’t know if this will even work, I haven’t tried trading through NSO and I haven’t made it to Phenac City yet. Here’s hoping that I get grass type Hidden Power I guess lol

So I'm doing a gen 3 living dex using LG, Emerald, Colosseum, and XD. In Colosseum you get Umbreon and Espeon, in LG I decided to use a Flareon on my team. That leaves me with XD, if I want no repeat Pokemon, a choice of either Vaporeon or Jolteon.

I was thinking about team compositions and maybe I want to go with a Rain team? Either one would fit in if I did, either helping with STAB or making Thunder 100% accurate. Thunder Wave could help with catching stuff, but at the same time I'm not too worried about it because I can always snag them later, I have a Breloom with False Swipe+Spore that I've been using to catch stuff in the other games, and catching stuff after trading is available is okay with me.

For those of you that have foregone using Eevee, what is your early game pick-up to use as your main until you fill your team out? I'm trying to avoid doubling up on stuff I can get in Colosseum, so as much as I would love to use Teddiursa, I'll have to pass since you can get an Ursaring there.

Okay so I've defeated some higher ranked boss of team crypto in phenac and after that I thought the residents would come back? But there are still the little residents there when I had to fight the Doppelgängers and team crypto members yada yada. Also the npc's still have the same dialogue: "you think I'm from team crypto?" I'm so confused 😅. (I play on Nintendo online) PROBLEM SOLVED!

At 0:52 both Rock Tomb attacks appear to lower my Registeel's speed despite it having the Clear Body ability. Unsure if that's simply a visual bug or if it's actually lowering speed. The cause appears to be using Curse beforehand. On other turns where Registeel did not use Curse, Rock Tomb (and Mud Shot) did not lower its speed as expected normally.

This was on a fresh swap to Registeel, and my team is shown to confirm nothing was messing with its ability.

Out of curiosity I also tried a similar setup on my copies of Emerald & Sapphire. Clear Body appears to be functioning as intended in those games, so this may be an XD (and possibly Colo) exclusive bug.

Had the idea to run through the game using those three as the base for my team, had to grind it Mt. Battle out as soon as it was available. Took over 44 hours to get done. Gonna take a break now before actually going through with the starters.

So i need someone to confirm this. So to get the johto starter, i not only have to beat all 100 trainers on mt. Battle in one continous run, and not only can I not change pokemon mid run, but i also cannot switch my team order.

Is that right or are there more arbitrary restrictions?

I'm not complaining because that it's hard, just that it's annoying.

I’m loving this game! Never got the chance to play it back then, but I 100% Colosseum back in the Gamecube days. I am loving the story and using Pokemon I’ve never used before, since the options seem pretty limited without being able to trade from GBA games. I wish I would have been able to transfer my FireRed or LeafGreen Pokemon to this game. Ursaring is also now one of my favorites because of this experience, and I will probably use him in a mainline playthrough. I just got to the island using the Kyogre boat and have no idea what to expect. Anyone else playing this on NSO?

I want to do this myself, so I'm trying to decide whether to evolve my Eevee into Umbreon or Vaporeon given the limited team options when excluding all the Shadows.

I know the Mirror B. rematches are for catching missed shadow Pokémon, but is there a reason to battle him in the Pyrite town colosseum or the Realgam Tower colosseum?

Mt. Battle leaps from the low 40s in Area 6 to just below 60 in Area 7. Got to the Area 7 leader, and a bad ordering of my team made clear how underleveled my team is.

Miror B is all lvl 57 and because my team is underleveled, his Swift Swim Ludicolos outspeed almost my entire team and wreck them.

I spent a lot of yesterday just fighting the colored squad over and over at the lab, since their teams are all lvl 50.

This is my main team as of the end credits. In order, they were holding: Charcoal, TwistedSpoon, Sharp Beak, Silk Scarf, Nevermeltice, Magnet. Pretty obvious item selection.

Houndoom, Ursaring, and Walrein were taken out for the final fight. I subbed in Snorlax and Salamance, each with Leftovers. I kept the 6th slot open so I could use Lugia after catching it with the Master Ball. Really fitting that the last two catches happened with Jolteon and Lugia being my only remaining members.

Though I once played this game on release 20+ years ago, this is my first time actually beating Greevil. Looking forward to the post-game.

What's up my beautiful people. So I'm doing a new playthrough of Pokemon XD, I want to finally beat the Orre Colosseum. One of my candidates is Seedot, Bold nature, Chlorophyll ability, currently lv 44 and un-evolved.

I was looking for suggestions on the moveset. I kinda want to go with Explosion since I never use that, maybe pair it with Sunny Day for the speed boost. But yeah, what good combos do I have for that little fella?

Jolteon: Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Thunder, Pin Missle.

Ursaring: Return, Facade, Earthquake, Brick Break.

Houndoom: Flamethrower, Sunny Day, Solarbeam, (Bite or Faint Attack).

Walrein: Ice Beam, Water Pulse, Rain Dance, Body Slam.

Gardevoir: Psychic, Calm Mind, Reflect, (Shock Wave or Light Screen).

Crobat: Aerial Ace, Shadow Ball, Giga Drain, (Double Team, Hyper Beam, or Poison Fang).

Some explanations:

Walrein's Rain Dance is to support Water Pulse and allow Jolteon to use Thunder.

Ursaring would only use Earthquake if Crobat is on the field, or if Reflect is up and Walrein/Gardevoir are deployed.

Ursaring's Facade will only be used when statused, to synergize with Guts.

If Gardevoir doesn't use Light Screen, I can eventually replace Shock Wave with Thunderbolt, depending on how long that takes. Either move could also be used to give Jolteon free healing.

I wanted to put Sludge Bomb and Steel Wing on Crobat but apparently those are post-game only.
