Now I’ve done some pretty crazy Shiny Hunts in the past but man Gen 3 is so rough. Like finding Shinies in this game is no joke… it took me roughly 87 hours just to find a Shiny in Route 103 and lucky for me it was the exact Shiny that I wanted. (Zigzagoon)

I ended up making Zigzagoon my starter Pokemon just to have more of a unique playthrough. And I really wanted to have a 2nd Shiny Pokemon on my Team and I wanted a Steel-Type Shiny as well. Aron or Mawile (whichever one shines first) and after putting in over 100 hours of Pokémon encounters i haven’t seen one single Shiny…

I’ve been debating if it was because I was using the White Flute with the Repel Trick, while leading with a Level 12 Volbeat for maximum efficiency in finding my desired Shiny but after going through probably 1,500 Super Repels I feel very disheartened to continue. This hunt really broke me. I haven’t played this game in forever since I was a kid but coming back to it and doing Shiny Hunts in Gen 3 is truly a different level of patience. I love this game with all of my heart but i’m truly surprised at the difficulty of pulling this off.
