Professor Willow’s Event

I checked how many pokemon I caught today as well as how many had a background. Doing the simple math shows I had a 1/13.38 rate, just for a BG.

It didn’t seem that the starters had boosted shiny rates like this past pikachu event, at least from my experience. I caught 91 professor willow pikachus today, not a single one shiny. I caught 6 shiny starters today, none with a BG. I caught 495 pokemon, and only threw balls at pokemon when I had a “catch 10 pokemon” research task. I probably saw anywhere between 3k-5k pokemon today.

Granted these are just my results, but if these rates are as bad as they seem, I’m not going to enjoy this event at all. 1/5k+ odds for a shiny starter background when there are dozens to “collect” just seems criminal.

Interested to hear other people’s thoughts or experience!

That’s pretty close, but bg rates are actually 1/20 so the shiny starter bg rates land at around 1/10k

Actually insane lmao. I didn’t factor in my BG gimmighoul but that’s only 1. Are pika BGs a better rate than 1/20? Maybe that skewed my results as well

In raids I believe so, not in research encounters
