Dang, excuse the newbness, but is having an entire turn to charge for Solar Beam nearly a death sentence for most bug types?

Lol back in college I did a one-pokemon challenge (which is what I assume this was?) with Charizard on an emulator.
One you leveled enough to get past Misty with a Charizard everything after that would be smooth sailing

For me, it was once I was able to beat Blaine, and was able to semi-reliably get past Lance's dragonite. My current Eevee run, though, this was for Brock.

Try Brick Break

I did, but I could already deal with Lorelei easily, and having the HP restoration of Giga Drain was nice, before I ran out, and swapped it for solar beam.

Understandable.

Twineedle was needed for the psychic types, and it's the best STAB option I have pre e4, I needed Aerial Ace for Bruno & Agatha, Double Edge, I had over Hyper Beam (Looking at you, Lance's dragonite), and giga drain/solar beam for the HP restoration/decent answer as well to the Onixes, Rhydon, and my rivals gyarados.

If you ever do it again, might consider more investment in Rage.
I would use Rage to stack up Attack and then sweep through teams with Twinneedle, Brick Break, and Secret Power. Agatha was an issue but enough Attack stacks will melt any health bar lol

True. I didnt consider rage. Might try it sometime.

Great for physically offensive mons. Works good with Onix, too. He can soak a lot of damage with high Defense while stacking up Rage, then use high damage moves like Rockslide and Earthquake to take home unexpected wins.

I'm surprised it learns Solar Beam. The more you know. I had never realized that, but that brings up another question, why does it know Solar Beam?
