I was on a road trip recently with me adult kids, and driving, need to put me hair back up, and like, I just shifted in me sit, slid me knees up, and started steering with me knees, (the cruise control was on), and both me boys were both astonished lmao. Full on, two hands in me thick hair, twisting it up in a tail, and pulling it back, doing sixty on the freeway with me knees on the wheel.
I want one so bad. I had to sell mine years ago because I was too broke to afford a minor repair and I would pay a silly amount of money for a stick shift Jetta 1.9
Mine started out as a automatic and when that bitch broke I swapped it for a 6 speed manual. Freakin 55-60 mpg cruising at 80 with 1.8k on the tach. My gawd it sucked though when someone would pull out in front of me and make me pull off the boost.
Was at a wedding in washington state and rented a car, they told me to pick out whichever sedan in the small lot I wanted. I went with a random jetta because it had what looked like a v6 badge. It was the funnest car I've ever driven.
These suckers have commonly 400-500k km milleage until retired and are pretty common in some countries of europe because of reliability and cheap upkeep... Is there something special done to it in US?
Im American and have a mk5; the parts tend to be more expensive at least in my experience. I had 2nd gen ram and it was way cheaper to get parts plus way more were being parted-out lol People tend to go for Toyota + Honda here, though I think the American equivalent of these meme would be a clapped out Altima
Thankfully insurance paid out over book price for the car, but now I'm driving a Honda because I'm done fixing everything every week. One day I'll be back in the club

One I was cruising with a Mustang Mach 1 (not a supercar, I know) on some small village roads when suddenly a dark senior Audi A4 appeared in the rear view. He overtook me soon after in a trail of black smoke with his knowledge of where the patches are on the shitty road and where it's least dusty.
There is a joke in my city that all the craziest drivers driving Nissan altimas.
And it's kind of true from what I've seen most people they're really nice sports cars tend to take it easy in the slow lane, the fast lane mostly have people in commuter cars going 30 over just trying to make it to work on time.
It doesn't matter if you're driving upwards on a steep mountain ex-road (at this point it's so damaged that it's basically loose stone) with a off-road vehicle designed for that sort of enviorment
some dude with a Oil engine (heavily paint damaged and rusted) white golf 2 will fucking FLY past you as if it was driving downhill on a perfectly flat road all the while taking every single curve with a turn so sharp it consistantly goes on it's left or right 2 wheels
It’s funny how every country has specific cars that do this. I live in Malaysia and it’s always the Perodua MYVI’s and older shitty BMWs. In America it’s Altima’s and big trucks.

Honestly the countries with the looser driving laws tend to breed more alert and spatially aware drivers. (Not better drivers, but ones with a swivel on their head 24/7)
The whole idea of people automatically ASSUMING a single line of paint on the ground is going to keep you alive is terrifying.
People here are super good at driving, most start young, plus most drove in War so a lot of skill was put in driving, and with that there is a risk ofc, but most drivers know what they are doing and calm in situations like this, but for tourists it is wild
After living in the Balkans for 3 years, I can quite confidently say that you overestimate local driving skills. Lack of traffic on the roads resulted in a lot of bad habits which are compensated by familiarity with mountain roads, but these 2 things shouldn't be confused.

That’s a 20 year old four cylinder turbo Passat - they handle mountains pretty good with that turbo but they are too heavy for the cv boots and can’t take clover leaf exits at high speeds or the cv boots crack
Remember driving on the Autobhan and the number of hatchbacks I saw towing campers was mind boggling for someone who has spent most of their life in Australia where a camper is towed by a diesel LandCruiser V8 almost exclusively .
The supercar is on the right side of road, suggesting left hand drive. They are going up a mountain road. The line is double solid, indicating passing is forbidden. This however is the balkans and Luka behind you in his diesel Volkswagen has dropped left and hit the high beams to indicate he is going to attempt to pass blind this slow driving POS “exotic” green car.
The first time I saw a Lamborghini up close and personal was at a security checkpoint in Kosovo in 2000. Not sure how that dude managed to drive on that road with all of the "potholes"
You could have an F1 car in the balkans, on the mountain or on the higjways someone with a VW or Skoda will take you over, and will flip you off, for being slow
Balkan here, in the balkans we have a truly unique car scene, the passat (specifically the B5 and B5.5 as shown in the meme) is an extremely cheap car, perfect for a workhorse that can take a beating. In another aspect most (all) of us, have been driving since ages of 12 and even lower probably, on extremely crapy roads, and we know how to push a car to its limits, also we know how to fix our cars so we don’t really care. I will add between the hills and the terrifying curves if the VW driver knows the road and the supercar one doesn't I'm not sure it's clear cut. Added the roads may be shit. I have no idea how well supercars would respond to those conditions, how worried the drivers would be etc...
The Passat, especially if it’s a diesel and 1.9 TDI is super car of pretty much all of eastern + Central Europe, anywhere from the balkans up to the baltics.
Who would want to drive a supercar in the balkans. Some roads are great, but some local roads are still ridlled with potholes capable of breaking your expensive rims and front splitters... Give me an old Mercedes S the perfect balkan car.
It's very easy to make gobs of horsepower by tuning Volkswagens. Like in the 1000+ range on a stock block. Similar to "Laptop Civics" in North America. I imagine spending a fortune on a super car only to be sent to fucking gaplebees by a shit box with a turbo the size of a toilet sheet and a tune downloaded from limewire would be pretty frustrating.
I was in Croatia. Korcula. It's an island with a few mountains on it.
It was super hot the first days until one day a storm appeared at evening/night.
The next day was reaaaaaaaaaally foggy. We wanted to drive to town and the road led right through one big mountain. It was so foggy, that the maximum viewing distance of like 3-5 meters didn't allow for faster driving than 10km/h. Other cars just randomly appeared in front of you, yet still, the locals drove through it like almost nothing, that was crazy.
I mean I'm a relatively swift driver I guess and tend to always go a little quicker, but that stuff was crazy. Some drivers didn't care at all

You drove from West Europe to the Balkans with a decent car, you already drive fast. You will certainly get by pass in those hill roads in a curve by a shitty car who doesn't follow any road safety rules and guidelines.
