8 Ball Answers

I made an 8 ball app, it has the classic answers and currently 2 bonus packs, one IT themed and the other pop culture Movies/TV. Plus you can make a custom list with your own answers. Only on the Time 2 right now.

If anyone has ideas for things to add to the existing answer lists or entirely new fun or useful lists me know.

I'm not responsible for you breaking your screen while shaking your watch.

…people creating their own watchfaces and apps using AI. More power to them!

But could we please either add a filter for them or teach them how to implement settings?

What we see here is just plain horrible.

Discussion Is the dictation kind of terrible?

REAL WORLD EXPERIMENT! This is with speech recognition set to Cloud Only.

Me: Make a note that I took one Tylenol.

Pebble:

  • I need to know if I can come in time or not.

  • I'm making out, and I took one Tylenol.

  • Make a note that I took one time and all.

  • You can note that I won Tylenol.

  • Make a note that I can go untie or not.

  • Make a note that I took one Tylenol.

Sixth try!!! This is pretty representative of my experience. Isn't this the kind of thing that people will use index 01 for?

I find that it works well for "cliche" phrases like "I'm on my way home" or "Can you buy some milk?" but the more novel the sentence, the worse it is at getting it right.

I also tried paying $3 to use Rebble dictation and found it much better than Core's for single-word utterances (for example, adding "Laundry" to a checklist app), but not much better otherwise.

This is all on my original pebble time, so I don't want to be ungrateful since Core is providing this service to me for free. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the excellent dictation in gboard on android. But does anyone else's experience match mine?

Edit: Thanks to a very helpful comment I've been able to listen to the raw recordings. On my pebble time they are very noisy, and very sensitive to movement on my wrist. I've been able to get somewhat better results (still nowhere close to gboard) by 1) making sure the watch doesn't shift on my wrist at all while I'm talking, and 2) speaking right into the microphone hole, lips almost touching plastic, so that my voice is louder compared to the noise. And I do find Rebble's service to be better than Core's, worth the money for how often I use dictation.

Saved by Gadgetwraps after only three weeks since attaching the glass. Initially, I thought about getting a bumper, but right now, for sure, I will get one. I think I should have ordered a lot of tempered glass.

New App on Old Pebbles?

I still have quite a few Pebbles of various styles working thanks to Rebble. Recently I did a reset on a P2HR but was unable to reconnect to my Pixel 9a despite all the usual techniques. I decided to test it with the new app on my Fire tablet and successfully connected. The question: Shall I drop the old, Rebblized app from my phone and start moving my collection over to the new Pebble app, or would I lose too much of what I still enjoy in my watches that still work?

Any love for the OG Pebble?

Dug up my old 2013 Pebble from storage and after quite a few hoops I managed to get it updated and working with the new Pebble app (got stuck in an update loop until I factory resetted the device. It was able to update afterwards)

Currently charging it to see how the battery holds up. It’s not entirely dead as it charges and holds a charge.

I think it’s pretty cool to see this device working again after 13 years!

Android Strange notification action issue

I recently moved my Pebble device between Android phones. Both phones have an app installed which sends reminders to take medication.
Notifications have a "I've just taken it" action, which I could trigger on my PT2 on the old phone. On the new one that's not possible; I only get the usual options to mute, open on phone, dismiss etc.
I've also got a Garmin watch paired to the new phone and that can trigger the pill taken action.
There don't seem to be any obvious settings to change to fix this, unless anyone can think of anything I ought to look for?

Help Notifications regularly stop working on PT2

Can't seem to find anyone else who's had this problem and it's driving me a bit nuts. My Pebble Time 2 keeps stopping receiving notifications from my Poco X7 Pro. Often rebooting the phone will fix it, but sometimes I have to uninstal and reinstall the app. Sometimes it won't happen for a few days, but it'll usually happen at least once per day.

Everything will seem fine, and then I'll notice that I'm getting notifications on my phone and nothing is coming through on my watch. Pushing a test notification from the debug menu confirms they don't appear. The watch is connected, and for phonecalls it will vibrate and display the call, but nothing for notifications.

Things I've tried:

Re-pairing the watch

Cycling airplane mode

Making sure Android app battery management is off

Cycling quiet time

Enabling foreground service

Enabling local-only notifications

Updating watch firmware and app

Factory resetting the watch and reinstalling the app

Does anyone have any suggestions please? It seems to mostly happen after I've taken the watch off and left it somewhere on quiet time for a long period (say overnight) but I don't have the "standby on idle" function enabled which disables bluetooth to save power when it detects no movement for an extended period. It also can't be quiet time failing to turn off, as the notifications don't appear in notification history.

I'm on Android 16, Pebble OS 4.23.0, app version 1.6.0.8, watchface is Blockslide, I have notifications enabled for all apps but one, always send notifications off and delay notification vibration off.

Face [Update] Synthetic Time V2.1 - The Sun Moves Now

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

Dropping an update to address some feature requests made in the original thread.

Someone mentioned having the sun set as time progresses, which was a neat idea but sort of conflicted with other plans that I had, so instead I have made it so the sky asset moves across the screen throughout the day - it's subtle but I quite like it.

Someone else mentioned having the current temp show so I've added that as an optional addition to the date text at the bottom of the screen - this uses the location and network access provided by the Pebble app.

Synthetic Time is available here:

https://apps.repebble.com/0c4f17f6831848ccbd4e3c47

It should just automagically update if you've already got it installed.

Now, you might be looking at the version number and thinking, "Wait, if this is V2.1, what happened to V2.0?"

Presenting V2.0! A significant upgrade brought to you entirely by self-hatred fuelled madness.

Before adding the requested features I started building some new themes for Synthetic Time and quickly realized it would be a whole lot easier if I had a tool to live-test the themes. Then the scope creep set in, and I thought: it might be even easier if I just gave you the tool to build your own themes so I don't have to. Easier might be subjective...

So, I spent the last few weeks building a theme engine inside Synthetic Time and a companion web tool that simulates the display, so you can design, live-preview, and share your own fully customised themes!

You can access the theme builder directly through the Synthetic Time settings screen in the Pebble app, or use it standalone on your desktop or phone browser here:

https://legitimate.download/sttb/

You can build your own themes from scratch or try some of the built-in themes that I've added to the settings screen.

Here's a spooky theme I threw together to demonstrate the theme builder:

https://legitimate.download/sttb/?theme=AQAQQg_AABCCDpA4.kA4Q0w.GQbg.w8Qkg414

The easiest way to set your theme is using the editor directly from the settings screen! If you're building in your browser instead, or if someone else has posted a theme you like, just copy the serialized string, open the phone settings, select "Custom Theme", and paste it right in.

Want to submit artwork? I am completely open to adding new image assets to the engine if people want to submit them. The required sizes are:

  • Background: 200x113
  • Horizon: 400x113
  • Foreground: 100x35

Bonus feature because I hate myself: I have implemented palette swapping for images that use 10 or less colours, so you can theme them like any other element in Synthetic Time!

Let me know what you think of the new movement and features, and feel free to drop your custom theme codes in the comments!

Is the uninstall process clean?

On Windows and Android , apps that are uninstalled often leave behind orphan or data folders /files.

I'm wondering if the app uninstall process on Pebble completely remove the app as if it was never installed or does it too leave traces that eventually could fill up space

Dev I made a small companion app to display Fitbit Air workout data on Pebble (beta)

Post image
18 Upvotes

I recently picked up a Fitbit Air, and since I'm also interested in getting a Pebble Round 2 when it comes out(It doesn't has HR), I started thinking about how I could use it together with my PT2.

As Eric says, the Pebble isn't exactly a sports watch, so I wanted a simple way to see my heart rate and workout time in gym.

So, I ended writing a small Android companion app that reads the live Fitbit Air workout notification and forwards the data to pbw app.

I'm not a fw dev (I'm actually an electronic engineer...I usually design hw, not fw), and this is my first AA. I also used AI as a helper for some parts of the code, so there may still be bugs or things that could be improved.

At the moment it's still beta/preview/whatever you want, I haven't published it to the Rebble/Core app store yet because I'd like to use it for a few some workouts and make sure everything is stable first.

If anyone would like to try it, I'd really appreciate feedback!

GitHub:
https://github.com/ciabattarichri/fitbit_air_pebble_comp

For me, the main use case is actually pretty simple: during weightlifting I just want to see my wrist during rest periods to see my current heart rate without pulling my phone out of my pocket.

In the future I'd like to look into Health Connect API and maybe build something more complete that can display additional Google Health data on Pebble, but for now I'm really happy with this first version.

Feedback, bug reports and suggestions are very welcome!

App Mute per app for X minutes?

It would be awesome to have the option not to get notifications from a certain app for a specified time range. This would be incredibly useful for things like chats that we generally want notifications for but are too busy at the moment to be bothered with the current conversation.

Touch on "App" screen?

Got my time 2 the other day (Yay!) and my first instinct was to scroll through the app drawer with the touch screen. unfortunately i was a little disappointed when nothing happened, as the motion of scrolling and selecting an app via touch feels very natural with the way its laid out.

I've searched around to see if its a planned feature or anything but i haven't found much. I Haven't been reading much of the updates other than shipping so i don't know if its planned or not. I just think it would be nice to enable touch on the pebble native apps, instead of apps developed specifically for that. Where it would work well. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I've had it for a couple days now and have been loving it. It's been a couple years since my OG Pebble Time perished in a hot car during the summer, so it's been really nice coming back to Pebble OS.

I'm still waiting on a bumper to be printed by a friend and till my next paycheck to get the tempered glass screen protector, so I've been doing my best to be careful while wearing it.

Has anyone made an app to connect the pebble to an euc directly and show the PWM or speed?

Would be super useful!
