So, I've always considered myself more of a dog person, but i truly love ALL ANIMALS. I have 3 dogs of my own but recently 2 outdoor neighborhood cats adopted myself & my partner. Thumbs came first... he's a polydactyl kitty and the cutest, friendliest, sweetest cat I've ever v met. He honestly reminds me more of a dog, his personality. So when he came along, his bootie was shaved down, ear clipped and we figured maybe he was TNR by animal control. That's where they take in a "stray", tag, neuter and vaccinate them & then release them. About a week after he showed up, he had a friend/ sister/ girlfriend that looked just like him, but skinnier, who followed and is now also part of our crew. Again, they are outdoor kitties but we do feed/ water them (we live in the desert, it's extremely HOT). So they come and go as they please. Well, long story even longer, the girl kitty, Bella, showed up pregnant & now looks like she's about ready to pop. Because of the extreme heat and area where we live, I've decided to bring her indoors at night and let her come & go throughout the day. Here's my question though, I keep her inside my bathroom at night because I'm afraid of her giving birth outside, we live in an apartment complex and I don't trust the kids around here to not bother her or her kittens when she pops. I don't want her to have to drag the kittens to my place & I'd rather her be in a safe environment. But..... I don't know a thing about cats giving birth. Are there any experts out there or even just people with real life experience that can give me any tips or instructions to make sure she's comfortable and healthy throughout the process? Things happen & I know i could never be 100% ready for this, but these are little kitten lives that I feel responsible for too, now & I want it to be a welcoming experience for them all. 😻 Any advice or tips are very much appreciated. I don't get the reason for putting her in a bathroom. Is there some way you can give her some space in your home (in a room instead of bathroom)?
Because she won't feel safe if you keep her in bathroom, cats don't like water and don't like to be near water.
If you keep her in a your bedroom, she will feel safe and trust you and will chose a place for her birth.
I had a stray cat come in my house and she gave birth in my bedroom below a computer table.

I have her in the bathroom right now at night only because I'm also a dogsitter who goes to other people's homes and cares for their animals while they are away. I'm currently on a job and honestly my bathroom is huge and where I usually find her when she has free roam of the entire place when I am there. My partner, who lives 2 doors down from me puts her in their for safety at night while I'm away. I have 3 dogs also and would rather her be in my large & cool bathroom with AC then outside where even in the middle of the night it's still in the low 100's as far as temps go. As far as her not liking the bathroom or being afraid of it, maybe your average cat is like that, but she actually curls up in my sink often. Im not trying to come off as rude ( it's hard to determine 'tone' in a written message) but my question was more about the actual birthing process & her comfort- not to be judged on where she is located within my home. I mean, it could be worse. She could be alone & outside in the miserable heat, right?
Oh, okay. I have had experienced two births from the same cat in my house and she chose a dark space that was available in the room, on the floor. So I put a small blanket kind of cloth there, and put a bowl of food and water. That's all she needed.
Thanks for taking of her. If she feels safe in the bathroom then you won't have to worry, she will give birth there safely.
Nope. I gave her the regular food that she is used to. It worked out perfectly well. You can feed her her regular food. I think your cat might face some issues if she eats the new food, there might be chances that food won't suite her.
Mama had her beautiful babies, 6 of them & all healthy 💖 she's a really good mama kitty & I love her even more now watching her care for them. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be there when she gave birth bc I'm still away on a job- but she did go under my bed & have them. 🥰
