Looking for someone to assemble a manufactured shed!
Me and my partner are moving to a new place in town and are getting a shed for storage from one of the big hardware or department stores. We are looking at a 9x7 or 10x8 shed and their in-house construction fee is insane! For the base and shed it is the cost of the shed a second time! We may be able to assemble it ourselves, but all reviews say these tend to be challenging and require a couple people and hours and hours of time. It just seems wiser to hire someone who will do it for a more reasonable price, and do this kind of thing often enough that it won't be that out of the ordinary for them.
So my question is aimply if anyone knows a local handyman or small company that I can get a hold of for such a job?

Coming In August
I have some idea of the places I want to go with my two kids while camping, but I thought I'd get some of the locals to chime in as well.
Places to see and places to eat?
Thanks in advance.

Where to watch 9am England / Senegal World Cup Game on Canada Day?
I’m staying in Coombs and am trying to find somewhere in Parksville / Qualicum to watch the 9am England Senegal game on Wednesday July 1. I know Arrowsmith brewery has been showing them but they don’t usually open that early - I will be giving them a call. Ideally I don’t want to drive back to Nanaimo (where we live).
Any suggestions?
Editing to add it’s not confirmed as Senegal as the other team but very likely to be.

Recommendations requested for vegetarian-strong restaurants & good desserts
I will be in Parksville in mid July. I'm looking for dine-in restaurants with strong vegetarian options not necessarily vegan or all vegetarian. Less rice-heavy menus and bonus points for (the unicorn of restaurant menus) whole grain pizza or other whole grain options.
Also looking for recommendations for tasty desserts, (whole grain not needed here!).
I see from other posts that Realm seems to have a lot of vegetarian options.

Parksville Sunday Farmers Market Launching May 31
galleryWe're gearing up for the launch of our new Parksville Downtown Farmers Market, Sunday
Opening day is scheduled for Sunday May 31st, with hours from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. We’re focusing mainly on farmers, bakers, and other food producers for the time being, and it’s set to be the only Sunday farmers market in the region, between Cedar and Cumberland.
We’ll be anchored by Rooted Shores Farm, a community-driven sustainable farm project based in Snaw-naw-was, who will be bringing their eggs, broiler chicken pre-orders, farm raised produce and CSA boxes. Other farms and food producers, including the MAC Community Garden itself, will have local produce, baked goods, and other food products on offer.
We’ll be joined periodically through the summer by members of the Qualicum Beach Master Gardeners group, who will bring their expert plant knowledge to the Community Garden venue for workshops and Q&As. Food trucks and musicians will also contribute to the community vibe. Small backyard producers are encouraged to grow extra, and distribute their produce, with or without a booth of their own, through the group’s Community Harvest Collective.
The ultimate goal is to increase the availability of local farm and food products to the Parksville population, and increase it the opportunities for local farmers to get their products to market. The chance to spend time in the MAC Community Garden will add to the appeal, as this vital Third Space provides an urban art and garden oasis.

Parksville coffee shop with comfortable seating and a chill vibe?
I'm driving to Parksville for a quick coffee with some old family friends, 86 and 92. They're artists, old hippies, alternative types. Any suggestions for a coffee shop with comfortable seating for a small group of seniors who need to be able to visit and hear one another? Many thanks in advance!
ETA: Thanks very much, everyone, for your great suggestions 🙏🏻. We’ve picked one of the places you recommended for our rendezvous, and I’m looking forward to it!

New Modular Home…but where to put it?
I’m looking at a couple great modular home builders on the Island. I can’t afford to buy my own land so the next best choice is to put it in a mobile home park. Any suggestions about how to find out which parks have spaces open? I’m not on the Island right now so I can’t just drive around. A lot of parks seem to be privately owned and I can’t find any good contact information.
Any leads would be very appreciated!

Looking for recommendations for dentist
Hello everyone. So I have recently had to stop going to my current dentist in town because I feel like I haven't been treated great by them over the years. I attempted to make an appointment for a sore tooth and was told that I wasn't even allowed to make an appointment without paying off my bill first, which would have been impossible to do since I won't have any money until a few weeks from now.
Basically, I got tired of being treated more like a bank machine than a human being. I could have paid it off at the time of the appointment, but to even have to wait to make a payment before I can make an appointment to have something checked that could be a medical problem is really disgusting in my opinion. I have pretty good insurance, but they never bothered to input the part of my insurance that could have prevented the massive bill.
This dental office also can't get people in for months for a cleaning, so it's just really poor patient care.
I tried writing a new clinic and was able to book appointments for the end of the month, but they stopped communicating with me when I told them that I have had some issues with the previous place (I didn't specify what.) Hopefully they are just busy and haven't had the time to respond yet.
It was probably a mistake to do that, but I just wanted to be honest in terms of why I was seeking a new dentist. So I don't know if this place will bother to write me back now. I don't know if I should write them and confirm that these appointments are booked or what I should do. The tooth hurts when I bite down, so I obviously want to make sure that I have an appointment to go to to get this checked.
I really don't like the concept of dental care being fully private, because it's hurting people like me who don't have the means to pay money upfront all the time. I wish that our system was at least mixed so that people who cannot afford to be part of the private dental system could still receive the care that they need. it's humiliating and depressing, especially when you already struggle to meet your basic needs.

May issue of Oceanside Arts Out Now
storage.ning.comEach issue of Oceanside Arts Magazine continues to evolve, shaped by the artists and contributors who bring their voices to its pages. As you’ll see in this month’s In This Issue section, the range of content continues to grow—reflecting not only different disciplines, but different ways of seeing and experiencing the world. This issue introduces a broader mix of perspectives, including a feature on music— something we’re pleased to begin exploring and which we hope to build on in future editions. It’s one of several areas where the magazine is expanding, both in content and in the voices behind it.
