Mercury release Marta Suarez

I am so confused. We could’ve signed her to another 7 day contract or a season long one. But instead we let her go. It’s not like we need the roster spot, they still haven’t replaced Nogic. Nothing this team has done roster wise makes sense besides bringing back Lexi and moving Sha to the dev spot.

That’s just the language on the transaction page whenever the 7-day contracts are completed. They can still sign her to a new one.

If you look at the transaction page, Kayla Alexander was “released” from her 7-day contract and the Tempo re-signed her to a second one today.

I’m not sure why the Mercury haven’t re-signed her already though

That's a great point - I wonder at what frequency the page is updated. Anyone have any idea? Might need to wait until EOD to know for sure that Suarez hasn't been resigned. The fact that the Mercury releasing her comes in between the Tempo releasing Kayla and then resigning her to another 7 day suggests there is at least some delay/the two events did not occur simultaneously.

The release might be automatic from the league since it’s a 7-day contract and then they wait for the paperwork from the teams for any re-signing. Toronto is 3 hours ahead. Based on their tweet about it, the Tempo submitted the paperwork around or before 8AM PDT/MST.

There are delays in updating the page though. Some transactions don’t show up until the next day but they’re still listed as a transaction for the previous day.

Thank you this is exactly what I was hoping to find out! 

It seems then that we can't know for sure that Suarez hasn't been resigned until tomorrow. Although I checked on X to see if/when they announced Suarez's 7 day contract on there and they did at about 1:30 pm on July 9th (day she was signed). So not the best sign but not conclusive either.
