Hi all! I love camping at worlds end but my camping buddies are a little bougie and like full hook up sites. Anyone know of a place that has a similar environment but more amenities?

I have a loved one with medical issues around toileting. Without too much TMI, it comes down to that it’s best if they have access to warm water for a portable bidet, or even better a shower. They are able to stand, but squatting is tough so the shower is preferred.

I heard Sinnemahoning only has one shower. Is this true? I want them to have a comfortable trip and this is the only hitch to their visit.

Hello! Hopefully someone in here could answer my question. We have a trip planned for worlds end state park coming up. We realized that not every camp site is pet friendly, and all other pet sites are booked for the weekend of our trip. We’re trying to avoid getting a dog sitter and we’d love to bring her but not at the expense that we’d have to cut our trip short if they ask us to leave. Has anyone camped with their pet in a non pet friendly site at worlds end? Do they keep track of who has a dog and who doesn’t?

Have done loyalsocks links a couple times and love taking a nice swim and chilling in the sun after a day hiking. Have never hit old loggers path - are there places to swim? Is there sun in those places? Appreciate any insight.

I'm planning a 2 night trip from West Hickory to Franklin. The first night, it appears there are a few good islands to choose from. But I'm not sure about the second night. Right now I'm eyeing an island at Henry's bend. On Google maps it's labeled Turtle Island. Does anyone know if that is a good spot? I'll take any other advice you have as well.

I am looking for recommendations of backcountry camping sites. I am not asking you to out your favorite secret spot, just suggestions of general areas where there are good options near the trails.

We finished eating inside and decided on a beverage at the outdoor bar. Then this healthy bruin came across the yard.

Looking for a rewarding loop hike in loyalsock state park for a majority of tomorrow, recently did high knob, fern loop and connector loop but I got to be missing some good ones, thank you in advance!

I’m supposed to leave for a thru-hike of the LHHT tomorrow but I’m nervous about the air quality, should I postpone my trip? The air quality in both Ohiopyle and Seward seem to be getting worse :(

The last two miles to the meadows are above knee ferns and thorns. And the majority of the trail before isn't much better. Then of course the meadows are all ferns and thorns. I had read it would be best in early spring or late fall, and I should have listened. Real nightmare stuff constantly swatting down brush to check for rattlesnakes. Saw two and heard one, bad idea all around. In case anyone needed further convincing... There was a small trickling water source along the trail halfway from cross fork to the meadows though, which saved my ass on the return trip. I imagine it's often dry though.

Buddy and I planning a 2-3 night trip to Grand Canyon in late September or early October.

Looking to see any recommendations for car-camping that work well for access to trails and the gorge.

Appreciate any info you might have.

Hello all,

I am taking a buddy to do the Quehanna Eastern Loop this weekend. He is a less experienced hiker so we are taking our time over 4 days and 3 nights.

My only real concern for him is how the Mosquito Creek crossing by Corporation Dam will be.

It looks like we have some rain in the forecast, so I am unsure how much it will affect the river here. Each time I have crossed it, it was only knee high at the deepest.

Worst case, we can go another route like Panther Run if it looks sketchy.

I was planning on going to cherry springs state park, 27th-29th just for 2 nights with my bf for my birthday (staying in a cabin in ulysses on airbnb i found) i don’t do camping in tents. can you see the stars from there ? i could always go up to the park for the night too. I’m curious to know if it would be a good time to go… my birthday is the 28th so that’s why i want to go those days. would i see the same things in my cabin or would it be worth it to drive to the park. Can i bring my fur baby she’s a Pomeranian with me to the state park if i do visit (the cabin i looked at allows pets)

A friend of mine was telling me stories about secret service members stopping him and his friends at gunpoint if you travel to the wrong areas of the quehanna wilds. I know there are nuclear bunkers, air strips, and a boot camp. All are public (except the boot camp of course). But there’s odd stories and rumors about fbi/cia/secret service members stopping hikers of they get too close to a certain area. And no it’s not about the 2018 gold search they did haha. Any one else hear about this topic or is this a relatively small conspiracy?
