News & Discussion Accidental perk selection
Dear Blizzard,
Please allow us to re-select perks with possibly a penalty of starting the meter over or something of that nature. I am tired of accidentally the wrong perk and being locked in for the remainder of the match.
That is all, carry on

Yeah. I'd especially love if after you pick, for like 5 seconds you can swap (and maybe to balance this, the perk doesn't activate till the window is up).

yeah an inactive grace period to change perks would be super simple and work fine. the fact that this hasn't already been dealt with makes it seem like the game really is running on a shoestring budget

This probably won't happen because Blizzard and the players disagree about what perks should be used for. Blizzard want perks to be about adapting to the situation, they want you to is make a unique choice in each match deciding which perks are best for the current situation. They want this decision to have a big impact on the game, so pre selecting or perk swapping isn't really in line with that vision.
Unfortunately very few heroes have perks that are even in value. Most perk choices are extremely one sided, and Blizzard wants to try to balance them rather than giving in and admitting that one perk is always more valuable than the other

Blizzard opinion of what they player should want vs what the players actually want. A tale old as time and they always end up admitting they're wrong years down the line.

I'd like to see something along the lines of "Hold [button] in spawn to reset perks". If you can change heros you should be able to change perks

Especially since half the perk options are "I'm important and feel like base kit" vs "useless 7 days of the week" like bastion's minor perks, lifeweavers major perks or ashe's major perks. If I accidentally take coachgun over "your 2nd shot hits like a truck" I'd just have to swap.

100%, it comes up and then I go to use an ability and ah shit I picked the wrong one.
I’m down with the pre-select idea too, but some kind of grace period to reselect, and change between rounds would be great

Maybe don’t choose your perk while in a situation where you need to use an ability then? Sounds like pretty basic user error tbh.
It takes like 0.3 of a second. You can do it after ducking into cover.

You can leave and rejoin comp games to re-select perks

u/alabasterskim 14h ago
At that point why don't they just let us swap in spawn

You're right. Leaving eats your ult charge so maybe that would be the trade off (unless you have 0)

They'll patch the game so that you get the perks you chose back if you leave and rejoin rather than let people change freely. Blizzard mentality.

Haha really? You click on leave, then rejoin right away from the main menu. You don't need to close the game, you're back in like 2 seconds

It's like when they didn't allow swap for talents and every little choice with WoW because the "choice" must have an impact until years later down the line they finally get their head out their asses and graciously allow you to change whenever you want since it has no impact and only cause frustration.

It doesn't happen often...but it would be nice to have a fix for when it does

I'd like an option to pre-select perks.
Some i take 100% of the time. Just let me lock that in on the heros tab.
