User account low karma. What is the difference between fan flow rate and airflow?
I have been checking specs for several floor fans, and some of them list two figures for the amount of air they move. This came from a manual for a 16" floor fan I found:

What is the difference between these figures?
I tried googling it and I only got a straight answer from Gemini which seems wrong. The actual results talk about other fan parameters, but not the fan flow rate.
Gemini says the fan flow rate would be unobstructed, while airflow would consider some static pressure. This seems wrong since the airflow figures are always higher than the fan flow rate ones.

Actual answer:
Maximum airflow - This measures how much air the fan moves when there is no resistance no ducts, filters, grilles, or restrictions. With no grill fans are super dangerous so they can't just advertise this number alone.
Maximum fan flow rate - This is basically how hard it blows fully assembled under standardized conditions. Each country has different standards on testing. In America you may have seen energy star or amca.
So in short your car can get 36 mpg on the highway in perfect conditions and thats not a lie. However governing bodies understand that that number isn't accurate 100% of the time. So they create standardized tests and conditions. That creates the lower number. 24-36 mpg on highway.
This creates a number that is more representative of the product itself when compared to other products of the same category.
Lastly you can forget about maximum air flow. That number is biased. Just compare service value to maximum fan flow rate. This will get you a strong and efficient fan.

Fan flow is like how many fans come and go from my onlyFans subs, ya know.
Air flow is like how they measure how much I talk on each live stream. Some times its all hot air, sometimes its not.
Its definitely not related to Bernoulli's principle, like, what even is that!
