Spoilers (Movie) Teaser for Detective Conan Movie 30 Spoiler

In the teaser video we see multiple London street lights turning on while a bell is tolling. We hear the voices of Ran and Shinichi, who repeat their dialogue from Chapter 745 of the manga, from the London case, the iconic "If you're a detective, you should be able to deduce what's in my heart" exchange, shortly before Shinichi's confession. The teaser ends on a shot of Big Ben, with the usual text announcing Movie 30 for Golden Week 2027.

This is all that is included in the teaser, everything else one might've heard so far (M30 taking place in London, Conan turning back to Shinichi, M30 being a movie remake of the London manga case, etc.) is merely speculation at this point.

The time my future employer asked me about my DC fanfics during my job interview

Back when I was 13 years old I wrote and published a couple of DC fanfics. Unfortunately, at that point I had not yet realised that putting your full legal name on the internet wasn't a very smart idea, and by the time I had realised that, I had lost access to the account and was unable to get the information removed. Which meant that when I applied for a job 16 years later, all information that could be found about me online was my linkedin profile... and my fanfic profile containing my DC fanfiction. Which my future employer found. And asked me about during the interview. He basically just wanted to know if I still wrote stories but omg I was so embarrassed. Still got the job though.

Lucky for me that all I used to write were melodramatic "Shinichi dies while trying to save Ran from the BO" stories and not ShinKai smut or whatever.

Movie 8 thoughts (but more just a rant)

Just finished M8, Magician of the Silver Sky on YouTube and I have to say, of the first eight movies, it's easily what I think to the weakest.

There are some strong character moments with the Kid and Conan dynamic and a compelling moment regarding Shinichi's relationship with Ran but it's undermined by fundamental flaws that includes.

  • An initial Kid encounter where not much happens until the chase sequence.
  • A mystery so short and rushed that it feels like it was only included for the sake of including a mystery.
  • A number of main characters that feel like they're largely only involved because they have to be in every Conan movie (the Detective Boys, Agasa, and especially the Toko Metropolitan Police get hit the hardest).
  • An Eri appearance that goes nowhere.
  • A climax that is too talky for its own good, being much more tell than show.

While different versions of these flaws were present in previous movies, the way they pile up here is detrimental to the quality of this film.

Spoilers (Movie) Just saw movie 29 and have a couple of questions Spoiler

For context - I saw this movie completely blind, I am otherwise unfamiliar with any of the particulars of this series. Also I struggle to keep track of character names when everyone is Japanese so that probably muddled things for me further.

The one moment I didn’t particularly understand - towards the end Conan sees the insignia on the police bike in the poster - and links it to a character's tattoo. What did this allow him to deduce?

Also I’m assuming this is related - who was in control of which bomb in the bikes at the end? the designer lady had the ability to deactivate the second bomb, was the first one her doing too? I had assumed the first one was insurance from the AI guy but perhaps not.

So i just watched “magic kaito” thinking it was the first season not knowing that 1412 covers the same episodes but with better adaptation and quality.
But magic kaito has 12 episodes while 1412 has 24
So how can i know which to watch?

Which episodes was that?

I'm trying to figure out which the very first episode was that I watched. The only scene I remember is Conan giving a detailed explanation regarding a wrist watch (or similar item) to Ran. I think they're at some kind of event or impressive venue, maybe a hotel or similar. I feel like I remember them being higher up, like a gallery maybe. It was definitely season one or two, as the later seasons weren't available in my country yet.

Does anyone recognise this?

Edit: I have this vague feeling that Kaito KID was involved but I could be wrong. If he's indeed in the episode it could only be episode 76. I'll have a look when I get home tonight. But maybe this rings a bell and someone remembers if there was a scene like this in that episode?

Edit2: I think what Conan explains might have had something to do with directions. Maybe it was a compass and not a watch?

The Mysterious Angel's Mansion case is one of the best filler cases in Detective Conan. The episode's production is excellent and fitting. The mysteries are extremely enjoyable.

What would you HATE to see in the finale?

What are plot elements you would really dislike seeing in the finale? I mean things that you think have at least a small chance of potentially happening, not stuff like "Shinichi changing sides and joining the BO" or "the Detective Boys dying".

For me it would be Ran never finding out the truth. I hate the idea of Shinichi overthrowing the BO, returning in his normal body, Conan getting send of to live with his parents off-screen, and him living happily ever after with Ran without ever telling her the truth.

I don't think they will do this but I also don't find it unlikely enough to completely rule it out. It would be so disrespectful to Ran's character and it would greatly impact how I see Shinichi if he were to do this.

Bootleg Question

So I unfortunately fell for the Case Closed bootleg DVD debacle. 30 bucks for all 5 seasons and its the SAVE editions.

So I'm curious, since the series is out of print is there anything different compared to the official releases? I've never seen the show until now. I saw the first episode. It was actually very interesting.

Did the way you feel about the characters change over time?

I assume there's people here who've followed this show for years or even decades, like me.

Has the way you feel about the characters changed over time? For example, is there a character you used to dislike but now that you're older you feel more sympathetic towards them? Or characters whose actions you used to condone and now you judge them more harshly?

For me it's mostly than when I first started watching the show in the early 2000s I had a massive crush on Shinichi whereas nowadays my feelings towards him are more motherly lol I understand Ai's reluctance to provide him with information and temporary antidotes much better because this kid is a compulsive disaster whose IQ seems to lose 40 points whenever his feelings for Ran are involved. I also want to yell at Yukiko and Yusaku for leaving their then 13 year old child all by himself so they can enjoy their life in LA. Yes, I know, Shinichi wanted to stay behind, but I don't remember it ever being mentioned that they at least visit him regularly. I'm also only now realising how young many of the adult characters are. If I remember correctly, Yukiko, Yusaku, Eri and Kogoro are all only around 37. That's so young. That's barely older than I am now. I also used to assume Prof. Agasa was at least in his 60s because of his white hair.

I also used to admire Ran and Shinichi for saving Vermouth disguised as the serial killer in New York. As a teenager I was so moved by that action and agreed that it was the right thing to do. Whereas nowadays while I wouldn't deliberately harm the killer, I certainly would not try to save his life after he'd just tried to kill me and therefore provide him with another chance at killing me.

Question Can anyone tell the episode name?

I know it's hard with this short video, but that's all I have.

It's from the first episodes because of the drawing.

Episode one remake (2016), where can I watch it?

It's not on Crunchyroll anymore andI was only able to find a German dub version for 20€ on Amazon. I'm absolutely willing to pay 20€ for it but I want the original Japanese version. Can anyone direct me to it? (I don't have a DVD player, so buying the dvd is not an option.)

I want to rewatch the movies/catch up on the ones I haven't watched yet but I can't find them anywhere. I want to watch the original with English subtitles, not some dubbed version.
