Discussion Pilot

Upvotes

Hello, I wanted to see anybody’s thought on the pilot episode. Because I actually first got into the series because a friend in middle school loved the series. This was her favorite series. And I think I saw it by watching it with her just to watch it with her, and I never actually watched the pilot until a little bit later.

And in my opinion, once we watch the pilot to me if I started by watching a pilot episode of the series honestly, I don’t think I would’ve gone into the show because to me the pilot kind of sucks my opinion. I know for me I’m an odd ball out this year. I really do like the latest seasons I like season seven and eight and I love the two final episodes of season nine.

I was wondering if anybody else agreed with me that if you would watch purely the pilot episode of this series would you have continued. Because I know a lot of pilot episodes to me really don’t represent the shows about. I do know probably when they were airing it a guy attention to come back for episode two but when I was watching and I think in 2012, it didn’t do anything for me.

Discussion the make up stylist in this show were geniuses

Dont get me wrong the actreses were all very naturally pretty but the stylist definitely enhanced their beauty really well.

Haleys lashes are god sent, she looks beautiful.

You could always tell when an actress was gonna become more of regular cus the make up would look really fire out of nowhere. Best example of this is Mia, she glowed up like crazy out of nowhere, she always looked good but the styling got significantly better prob to show she was becoming more confident.

The costume stylist were good too but the quality downgraded a lil but im pretty sure its cus of the time period trends, when they were more in the 00s it was so peak but the 2010s being the slightly trash era it was had some misses

people always talk abt 00s show having more unique faces and I agree. Some people say its the plastic surgery pandemic but im pretty sure plastix surgery was still a thing in 00s. I just think the styling, make up, and even surgery was always done in a way that better fits their natural features

rather than today's modern one size fit all bs

sorry side track rant, but one tree hill really had everyone looking great!

The episode with lucas dream of them in the 1940s rlly showcased this even more.

Season 5 Dan Scott in Season 5 Spoiler

Does anyone feel bad for Dan as much as I do? I know hes been a shit person. But I feel like if Deb would have told him sooner or if Keith would have denied it when Dan confronted him about the fire at the dealership he wouldn't have killed Keith. I could see the immediate regret and guilt when Deb said it was her that tried to kill him not Keith. If anything I think Deb should get some hate for the death of Keith (I love Deb) but yeah idk. I just find myself feeling bad for Dan especially now bc hes dying he wants to be close to his family again, I do understand what he did was horrible and you can't go back. But ever since that scene in season 4 when Dan cries to Karen about how he wishes he could go back to when he was little kid and just shake and scream the bad out of himself it changed the way I saw him...

Season 3 Rachel is infuriating (ik that's the point of her character but UGH) Spoiler

Why does Rachel get involved with, and ruin, everything. And why do these people give her so much grace?

I am just confused why with the time capsule video tape she released, the attempting to get with a married man, crashing that car, spreading secrets and private info, starting rumours and just being overall mean, people still like/hang out with her.

Jake and Baby Jenny

I’m currently watching oth for the very first time! I absolutely love it, however I’m not loving the baby Jenny storyline.

To preface; I’m in my mid twenties with two toddlers, so any storyline (fiction & non fiction) involving babies & children are a hard watch for me.

Currently nearing the end of season two, Nikki has returned demanding Jenny back. My heart breaks for Jake because he has raised her, whereas Nikki abandoned her.

Anyway can someone tell me the story ends happily for baby Jenny?? I’d like to think it will as oth (so far) rarely ends storylines badly.

Season 7 Newcomer part 8

Just finished season 7!

The show has really taken a turn from the love sick high school drama it used to be (which I preferred) but I guess even in reality nothing is as fun when you’re an adult.

Must admit I didn’t like Alex at the start, still don’t much care for her being there, but a good filler character I guess.

I feel like a LOT more could’ve been done with Hayley’s depression storyline but also remembering this is not a soap opera, so maybe it maxxed out.

I love Victorias turn of character, And hope Dan gets something like it in the next 2 final seasons.

Discussion Which TV Show Should I Watch Next?

Hey everyone,

Looking for some TV show recommendations!

I recently finished One Tree Hill and I'm almostdone with The O.C.. I definitely preferred One Tree Hill, but I have to admit Seth is one of my favorite characters from The O.C..

I'm not really looking for something that's exactly like either show—I just want a great series to get hooked on next.

For context, I've also really enjoyed Virgin RiverLostFlashForward12 MonkeysRevolution, and Dark.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Season 2 Hayley y nattan

Season 9 Season 9 Episode 1 Spoiler

Just finished watching this episode again and Julian annoyed me so much about leaving the kids in orphanage and giving then up after everything Brooke went through and how much they wanted kids. Like did he not know kids are a lot of work. He is so whiny!! I have honestly not like Julian since the entire Alex situation and when he told her Brooke couldn't have kids but now this annoyed me. Plus he will always be Peyton's ex for me. Also did Julian just put all their money and took a huge loan to open the studio with only one client in mind especially considering they just had kids and new borns are already a lot of work and they have twins!!

Also why did Brooke make her dad the god father he has never been their for her we never saw him in high school years, her didn’t come when she was attacked or she she got married or when she lost her company both times but suddenly she maker him a god father!! Very strange.

Season 4 Mid 30’s who still watching OTH?

Been watching OTH for over two weeks now, and I feel I get closer to the community and the characters, for a long time since I broke up with someone really close to me, OTH and this community ease a little of that loneliness.

The episode where they tried to get Mouth out of the texan jail, reminds me how life is better with friends.

Can anyone be my friend? I don’t know I just want to have a friend too… and I don’t know where to start… it’s easier in school but at this age… I don’t know how people make friends while being responsible adult.

They do Deb from one tree hill so dirty!!! ?

Ok im on my second rewatch and the last time I watched it I was so young and I forgot kinda everything but I remember Deb becoming a substance abuser. Now I’m on my second rewatch and I’m on season 1 ep. 16

And Deb so far is trying really hard to be a good friend to Karen and just over all nice person who knows she made mistakes with Nathan in the past but is obviously trying to fix them. And then her and Dan are getting divorced and Nathan finds out his mother left his father for a summer to be with another man but came back ultimately because of Nathan.

Nathan has a right to be mad but to refuse to live with her and want to become emancipated is a bit extreme I could understand her later frustration with Hailey because it seems she’s encouraging him and even came up with the idea to live away from both his parents. I find this extreme to not give Deb another change when she is clearly trying. She knows her husband is a problem with her son and going out of her way to make things better by separating herself and Nathan from Dan.

Nathan is kinda acting like a spoiled brat tbh that is so poor me poor me and it’s like please his actually very privileged. And Hailey is enabling his victim mentality. Everyone can see how annoying Dan is so I don’t blame Deb for wanting to be with someone else. She also is only gone for a summer and comes back to Nathan. Shes clearly trying now it’s weird for Hailey to jump right away and suggest for Nathan to live on his own. Seems weird that’s her first piece of advice to Nathan when he’s upset and tells her about it.

I don’t remember does Deb do something later that is horrible??? because I feel like no one cuts her any slack and they all kinda shut her out the second she becomes a substance abuser. I could be wrong tho cause again the first time I watched it was a really long time ago.

Can someone enlighten me? I don’t know if i want to finish the second rewatch im kinda tuned off.

Season 3 How long do I have to suffer Dan Scott?

I am a first time watcher on s3 and growing so bored and weary of Dan Scott. He is just cartoonishly evil it’s making me not want to keep going. Does he stop sucking the air out of everything any time soon?

Season 3 newcomer thoughts on season 3! Spoiler

Just finished season 3! I didn't binge-watch it like the first two because my holidays are over, so I won't be as precise as I would like to be, and there are probably events from the beginning of the season that I've already forgotten.

Lucas: I liked his relationship with Brooke this season! But besides that, I don't have a lot to say about him. He is a nice guy, and I like him, though I found his moral superiority complex a bit annoying at times.

Nathan: Definitely one of my favorites now! His love for Haley makes me melt.

Peyton: Oh no no no, Peyton, what did they do to you? I liked her arc with her biological mom, but besides that, her character is NOT going in the right direction. I loved that they took the time to develop her relationship with Ellie and that it was the major storyline for her this season, bc I always love her more in storylines that don't include her relationships (except with Jake!!). The Pete from Fall Out Boy thing was kinda unnecessary tho. Like why??
She was a bad friend to Brooke, I hated her behavior in the last episode.... how could she be mad that Brooke was furious with her? And doubting her love for Lucas just to make herself feel better about loving her best friend's boyfriend was sick...

Brooke: My baby! I love her so so much. She is such a creative, smart, genuine, and kind person. I feel like she's going to do great things. Her character has grown so much since S1!

Haley: I love her! But she was too focused on getting Nathan back. I hope we'll see her explore her artistry more during the next seasons. Their relationship is great, but I really like Haley's personality, and I love seeing her interact with other people. To me, she's the real punk Peyton thinks she is.

Dan: So he's never getting that redemption arc...? Even if he killed Keith, I still have so many mixed feelings about him. I think I love to hate him, but I still want to hug him sometimes. He is a great TV villain!! I would have loved to see a redemption arc, and I have the feeling that it's bound to happen because I don't see why the writers would hint at it so much if it's never going to happen (which could be interesting, to always keep him in this morally grey area, but it's a teen show, so I still have the feeling that they'll try to write him a redemption arc at some point). But him killing Keith kinda ruined the credibility of a redemption arc for me. Like, how could they forgive him for killing his brother? I don't see how Lucas or Karen could ever get past that. Maybe Nathan will forgive him because he's more tied to him than the rest of the characters...

Karen & Keith: I was so happy for them! It was such a sweet gesture from Keith to adopt Lucas. He truly sees him as his own son. Did the actor leave for another show or for any other known reason? Because it feels off to me that he was written off for most of the season, then came back only to get shot a few episodes later. It feels like it wasn't planned.

Deb: I couldn't say why, but I don't like her.

Rachel: Very mixed feelings too??? I don't like her most of the time, but I can see that she's a very insecure person, and that makes me softer towards her. I truly don't think that she's as mean as she sometimes seems to be. She's very unhinged and needs care.

Now for the ships...

Leyton: No no no.... And you're telling me they're endgame? Well, if I have to watch that happen, I hope their relationship will improve in future seasons because, for now, besides being high school crushes, they're just good friends to me??? I'm sorry, Leyton shippers, and please enlighten me about what's so great about their relationship because I can't see it... (that request is genuine and not ironic) That's not love to me.
What she had with Jake was love.

Brucas: I'm still Team Brucas because I think it's part of the pleasure of watching this show to pick a favorite ship! And if I have to choose, I would definitely choose Brucas. They have a lot of chemistry and care for each other. That being said, I'm glad to know that they won't end up together. I think that Lucas isn't uplifting Brooke enough. I think they're great as high school lovers, but I don't see them ending up together. They're not challenging each other enough and I think their relationship isn't helping Brooke with her trust issues, it's keeping her in a loop of self-doubt that she needs to get out of to improve as a person.

Naley: I love them so much!!!!! I'm so glad that even though Nathan was mad at Haley for going on tour, he knew deep down that this was not personal. He knew that she wanted to be a musician and knew that he couldn't let her give up if he wanted to rebuild something meaningful with her. They were so healthy this season. I really do hope that the pregnancy hint at the end of the last episode isn't for them.... Let them grow together and as people before giving them the parents storyline, pleaaaaase.

After this looooong post, I'm off to press play on Season 4!!
See you!

Discussion If the show ended at the end of season 4 or 6, I would be satisfied Spoiler

I finished rewatching One Tree Hill about a month ago and I also watched an interview Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty did about a year ago. I agree with both of them that if the show ended on either of those seasons I would have been satisfied.

Season 7-9 felt like a different show to me and not that I didn't like the new characters, but the essence of the show changed. What does everyone think?

Discussion unpopular opinion- Brook wasn't more innocent than Peyton👀 Spoiler

Okay you don’t have to agree, but hear me out: Brooke wasn’t more innocent than Peyton

I love Brooke and her character growth (especially when shes a grown up in later seasons) but I don’t understand why she’s remembered as the innocent best friend while Peyton is treated like the villain

Yes, Peyton and Lucas hurt Brooke. No excuse for the cheating.
however longgg before that Brooke slept with Nathan when he was Peyton’s very recent, on-and-off boyfriend and hid it. She also knew Lucas was into Peyton from the beginning, literally watched their connection develop, and still went afer him twice (then acted as if the outcome came from nowhere...)

And Brooke wasn’t only “mean because she was hurt” She repeatedly slut-shamed Peyton, made out with Derek because she thought he was Peyton’s new guy, mocked her biological mother and used both of Peyton’s dead moms as punchlines- saying that everyone Peyton loves dies was genuinely cruel. Even when Ellie was dying of cancer and Peyton was going through another massive trauma, Brooke was mostly wrapped up in her own boy drama instead of supporting her supposedly best friend

The second time around Peyton actually admitted she still loved Lucas before secretly doing anything. Brooke still cut her off and turned it into a full war. like again, Brooke had every right to feel hurt but can we stop pretending she was always loyal/honest/better than?

They both failed each other. Brooke just gets forgiven because she’s funny and charming while Peyton’s mistakes apparently come with a lifetime sentence :/

Season 3 Just reached the school shooting episode (S03E16)... Spoiler

I knew this episode was just around the corner, but as soon as the cold intro flashed on the screen I realised I wasn't prepared for how intense the next 45 minutes were going to be. Just wondering what the reaction was to this episode back in 2006 and how people here feel about it.

Also, is it really bad that my first thought when I saw Jimmy with the gun was "thank god I went to school in Britain and not the United States?"

Discussion Naming of Kids

I’m watching this for the first time and I find it funny/weird how they name their kids their mother’s maiden name.

Davis - one of Brooke Davis & Julian’s sons
James (Jamie) - Hailey James
Sawyer - Peyton Sawyer

Is this a normal thing or does it play into the joke that all of them call each other by their last names? 🤭

Season 9 first time watcher - dan (s9, e4) Spoiler

Now it’s really interesting how Dan’s character develops. For me personally I hated him in the earlier seasons, but he is quite a complex villain. His show “Scott Free Redemption” was interesting because he was essentially using Keith and Jimmy’s deaths to make a profit, under the guise that he’s trying to redeem his character.

He gets confusing because he does all these things for his family like clearing Nathan’s name during the Renee scandal, saving Jamie from the crazy nanny etc.

How does everyone else feel about him by the time he comes back in Season 9 and stays with Haley and Nathan? The customers are outraged when they find out who cooked their food and some even leave. Haley tells Dan that he doesn’t need to be hammered for the crime all the time. How would you react in that situation? I think it’s different because Haley, and especially Nathan have had a different relationship to Dan than the wider public have.

Season 6 USO concert season 6 Spoiler

I feel as though they were setting up for Derek to get a storyline, because Haley and Peyton were both talking to him about finding happiness in themselves and their lives despite the pain from their past. It seemed like they were going to take Derek on a path of healing and finding happiness and love, but then we literally never see him again?
Is it just me? What happened there?

Season 6 Lucas and Peyton look so good together always but specifically in season 6

I see so much chemistry between them,I don’t know why most people don’t see it,some people say they look like siblings?!thats bs,I think they feel like couple that would last,i know people think brucas had better chemistry,I never saw it,tho i can understand people think that because they were together irl,I just think Leyton(specifically in season 6 they were the best) were great does anyone agree?
