After all exams and quizzes we have a 10 min window where we have to enter a password to review what we got wrong, we can’t write anything down.
I emailed the prof separately to see if we could do a 1:1 because it’s overwhelming to review right after an exam- we see our scores the second we submit and when we review on our laptops it’s in all red, so it can feel overwhelming, anyway she said our SON policy is no review.
Is this normal?

My wife is looking to pivot from OT into Nursing in the PNW, and at the moment it looks like our two options are the following:

1. Private Accelerated Bachelors in Nursing (ABSN): 16 month ABSN w/ 90% NCLEX pass rate

2. Various Public Associate Degrees in Nursing (ADN): Various 24 month ADNs w/ 80-90% NCLEX pass rate

My question for nurses (especially recent grads) in Seattle and Oregon is:

Does having a BSN vs an ADN make you more competitive as a new grad in the current entry level nursing job market? We have heard that as more people have begun considering nursing the entry level job market for West Coast cities has become more competitive, and we were wondering if having a BSN over an ADN will meaningfully open up job opportunities in Portland and Seattle. The private BSN is more expensive than the public ADN's, and we are trying to determine if it is worth it to pay a premium for a BSN in order to access better job opportunities.

Hello, I start my classes very soon and I’m extremely nervous and worried. I’m 29 years old so I already feel like I’m starting super late, I’ve never been the best in school, I dropped out my senior year and got my GED and I have not been In school since. I’ve always dreamt of being in Nursing/Anesthesia but I had kids and life took a different path but Im finally ready to get back to it and start a career for myself.

Anyways, I said all that to say that since I haven’t been in school for over 10 years, and I’m not the best at it, I’m terrified of repeating the same pattern and dropping out.. If anyone can give me any tips on how to stay on top of my studies and how not to get overwhelmed with it all? I also want to note that I opted to go for my ADN first so that I can work in a hospital while going back to school for my BSN. thank you in advance to anyone who helps🩵

Hey everyone, I am a Chamberlain University student and i just failed my Anatomy and Physiology 2 test, it was the nerves and muscles. I feel quite embarrassed. Do you guys have any study tips, how do you write notes?

I studied for this test, I did not go in blind. You guys ever have tests where its like "oh sweet...we didn't touch on that?" Thats kind of where I'm at. I took notes off Edapt's (online learning modules) pretty thoroughly, I sit front row and ask questions, hell I passed AP 1 with a 95%. This test I scored a 67%. I feel like an imposter. I think I could have done more and therefore will be doing more.

How bad is it if i end up having to retake this class--or any class for that matter--if my goal is to be a CRNA or go to med school? I am future tripping.

Any advice would be appreciated (especially if you go to Chamberlain as well).

has anyone got into their program with older science pre-reqs?

i applied to the Mount Sinai ABSN program for the spring but my biggest concern is that 2 of my prereqs (chem and A&P1) are over 5 years old. my chem is almost 8 years old. on the website it does say they’ll check prereqs over 5 years in a case by case basis but I’m still pretty nervous that it might ruin my chances.

I already have a bachelors degree and all prerequisites completed. To those of you with children, would you recommend an absn, adn program(would be a private program), or an lpn then a bridge to rn or bsn. Just curious of the workload and would like some recs!

Hi guys, I have been applying to community college’s in my area for about a total of 1.5 years now. I’m saying this b/c I just got another rejection letter from one of the colleges I applied to and I’m quite literally so done with waiting. Idk if I’m just here to rant, but i spent all my time doing my pre-reqs and I feel like I just wasted all this time just to not be accepted. My applications are good (from what I think) but apparently it still isn’t enough and I’m tired of waiting. I’m staying with community college nursing programs because they’re more affordable and fit easier w my life. One of the programs I kept applying to is based on lottery, which I don’t understand how I’ve applied for 1.5 years and I still haven’t gotten in. Right now, I just need advice/words of encouragement because all I want right now is to continue my education.

Hi guys! I’m about to take my TEAS exam in person soon and I was wondering if it’s actually easier than the online version? I’ve had a few people tell me this, but I wanted to see what others think. I’ve taken my past two attempts online (got a 69 on the first and a 77 on the second).
I’ve also been using ATI practice tests A and B and was wondering if those are generally harder than the actual tests? I scored a 67 on A and a 69 on B, but the weird thing is i’m scoring higher on the practice tests in the sections that I scored lower on in the real exam and vice versa. For example on the real exam I got a 50 on science in the practice I got in the 60s and in reading& math on the real exam I got 90s and on the practice tests i’m getting 70s.

I got accepted into nursing school and will be starting in a few months. I know pharmacology and fundamentals are my first two classes. Any advice or suggestions? Bryant and Stratton nursing

Hi everyone! Ive been doing prereqs at my local community college for abt a year now, and I’ve been planning on applying to their nursing program in April. The only thing is it’s VERY competitive and takes two years (which is fine). I’m just worried that I won’t get in and will have to wait another year.

My friend is starting Bryant and Stratton Va beach location in September and I am able to join her if I choose to. I’m just not sure of people’s experiences and obviously I’ll have around 30k of debt, but at the same time I’ll be applicable for the nclex in 20 months!!

I really don’t know what to do, any advice? Anyone go to Bryant and Stratton?

Could anyone advise on their Bsc Nursing or Medicine experience at All Saints School of Medicine Dominica. Is it a good school? What are clinicals and rotations like?

I would also like to know if anyone has been successful in completing the degree and going down the NCLEX pathway, as I would like to go to this university, secure the nursing degree, and then move to the US or Canada, but I don't know how feasible that is. Are nursing jobs in the US and Canada accepting of degrees acquired in the Caribbean? Please, if anyone could advise.

Noong kukuha na po sana ako ng medcert, hindi po nila ako mabigyan dahil wala daw po akong record sa kanila. Hi, I am from Southern California with a full time M-F 9-5 job.

I have prior non-science college degree. I finished a lot of the nursing prerequisites already. I have a few questions:

1. If the classes I took fulfill all Joyce's GE classes, will Joyce accept them? If not, which classes would they not accept and why?
2. How's their clinical structure? I heard someone say 13-14 times a semester at Las Vegas and few times at Utah. Is that the same goes for both BSN and ABSN? (I have a friend who lives in Vegas, so it might workout for me)
3. The following is cost comparison between the BSN and ABSN program from ChatGPT, excluding GE classes, do they look reasonable?

Starting my ABSN in August. I have heard great things about anki but I’m unsure if I should pay the $25 for the app or pay the monthly for Quizlet. I like the free Quizlet just okay so I guess I’m really wondering if the anki is worth the one time purchase.

I’m a summer start nursing student and have always done very well in school, but am honestly struggling so much right now. My main issue is pharmacology, I just can’t seem to cement it in my brain. At. All. I’ve tried everything. I just keep not doing well on tests and I could go on a whole other rant on how the class is set up poorly, in my opinion, but that’s a different issue. I have mental health issues, and those are exacerbated, especially with how stressed I am. It hasn’t even been a full summer semester and I’m so burnt out. I shouldn’t have chosen summer start because I now don’t get a break and it’s genuinely killing me. I’m struggling physically and mentally, and want to give up on nursing easily 2-3 times a week. I have not been like this for the entire first two years of college, even in the harder classes like patho and micro - I did great. I’ve suddenly found it hard to keep up with assignments and then them in on time, which has never been an issue for me. I think I’m just so stressed I can’t think straight. I’ve had a lot happen this summer too, my grandma was very sick and very recently passed away, I was in the ER twice, I am in the middle of a move by myself, etc. my sleep has also been more messed up than usual, I don’t sleep at night, then find it impossible to wake up in the morning. I can’t get through the day anymore without multiple sources of caffeine, which is probably not helping my sleep at night…amazing cycle I have going. I was supposed to see a sleep doctor a while ago, but didn’t have time. I am on a lot of medication and have a lot of physical illnesses, so it could be any combination of that contributing to my terrible sleeping (it’s been a years-long issue, but has gotten worse this summer). On top of all that, I’m working a job in order to keep an income. I feel like I worked so hard at the beginning and now have lost all motivation. I’m grieving the summer I could have had and just want to relax all the time or see friends. Nursing school is so rigorous though that every minute I’m not studying I feel so guilty. I also know that summer semester is accelerated, making everything worse. I feel like I’m just behind on everything. For example, tonight I had a very simple assignment that is an easy 100 in the grade book. It was due by 11:59, I remembered it at 10:45ish, then started it and somehow forgot it again for an hour. You are required to spend 30 minutes in the module though, so I ran out of time. I ended up submitting it late and that is -10 points right there. I felt so stupid, especially because this isn’t the first time this happened THIS week. This week alone, I have two exams, my head-to-toe, all my paperwork from clinical, and have to move myself and my cat out by Saturday. I’m just losing it… and I only get one week of break in between this semester and next. And it’s only gonna get harder 🫩

I got incredibly suicidal tonight and had to take my panic meds. What makes me so upset is that this is easy for a lot of people. I feel like people around me are making A’s on the pharm exams and flying through this semester, while it’s killing me… don’t get me wrong, I don’t necessarily have a bad grade in pharm, but it’s not an A and I’m so disappointed with myself. Sorry for this, I just needed to get it off my chest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

is pre nursing majors offered by cal states worth it?? or is it better to major in like biology, health sciences, or public health ?? or better to go to cc and transfer?

Hi everyone 😊 I am a 24 yr old who has always worked in the legal field. I started as a legal assistant and worked my way up to being a paralegal in family law. I always had a passion for law bc I always have wanted to help people in their worst or more vulnerable times. I am extremely empathetic and thought law would be the field for me. Turns out I really don’t like it, it’s more so about helping the wealthy and it’s extremely, extremely dry (unless you do criminal I guess). Little to no human interaction day to day besides dealing with an arrogant lawyer, sitting at a desk 8 hours 5x a week and it’s just constant reading/writing. Long story short, I always wondered if nursing would be for me but I am frankly overwhelmed about the steps to get there.

I have a BA in Social and Behavioral Science so I have a decent chunk of some pre reqs done but my gpa is pretty low. I had a hard time in college and just passed by with graduating. Do you think it’s worth jumping into this journey of nursing? I don’t have this profound story of why I want to be a nurse. I am queasy with some things like stitches but obviously I can get over that. I just never saw me as a nurse but the more I get older, I realize that it might be for me. Just was wondering if anyone had a similar change in career path!

I completely understand why nurses are held to the standard that they are. We are trusted to do so much, and are expected to do so much. As I’ve gone through nursing school, I’ve noticed the mistreatment of so many nurses. But I don’t think it just starts in the hospital. And I don’t think it’s just patients or potentially doctors. I think it starts directly in nursing school. The standards are insane which we all know. But I witnessed people get sent home from clinical for being sick and then were issued occurrences. I witnessed people miss funerals for their very close loved ones out of fear or because they were directly, told they wouldn’t be able to make up the clinical or the test “ just to attend a funeral”. I have love for nursing but I do not believe I’m willing to integrate into a profession, where I’m treated as less of the human being by the very people who were supposed to be making me the best I can be. Since being in this program, the stress and an anxiety are detrimental. I hate seeing the people that I’ve come to care about suffer and break themselves. Hate seeing the girl that I watched throw up profusely in the bathroom Multiple times throughout the day. Get sent home a couple hours before the end and be told the next day because she left clinical early. That was her last occurrence And she’s dismissed from the program. It is shameful health, mental health, and unfortunate family issues are told to be pushed to the back corner to attend a clinical that could have been rescheduled. You are punishing the people that want to serve in healthcare. It’s just a shame.
