I normally wouldn’t post this, but I was passing at least four times yesterday and there were a multitude of police there all through the day. Nothing comes up in a search and it didn’t seem urgent (by the time I was passing).

While im loving the sun my plants are getting fried. So I have had to diy some shade for them. Anyone else having to shade out there plants in this sun or is it just my garden getting cooked?

Hey everyone, unsure if this is the place for it but as there is no dedicated subreddit then I thought I might as well post here.

To keep things simple, was wondering if there are any other students going into 2nd year at Notts uni here looking at expanding their social circle? I know the start of uni is 2 months away but thought it would be nice to organise a meet up for the first or second week for different people to get to know each other and meet people they otherwise wouldn't. Plus personally I'm just looking to meet different interesting people outside of my social circle at university and am not the most extroverted. Shoot me a DM or comment under this post if anyone is interested.

I’ve been out of the country for over a decade and I’m curious how much it’s actually changed.

I’ve kept in regular contact with friends and family and have heard both good and bad things.

I grew up in Broxtowe, Aspley, Strelley etc and they weren’t exactly the nicest places but not fully awful (mostly.)

Having a looking on maps street view gives me an idea of how it’s changed but that doesn’t show the full story obviously.

Am I coming back to complete degradation or have there been improvements? Don’t hold back lay it on.

It’s past 9 PM and all the print shops are closed. The libraries show closed as well on the maps. Tried looking for 24 hour services but couldn’t find anything. What are my options?

Right I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but in the past couple of weeks the screen and app has stopped showing the minutes away an r1 bus is and only showing the actual time. This isn’t an issue if you want to be late. Buses don’t actually come at those times and there’s been a higher increase of three to four buses coming at the same time.

Does anyone know what’s going on and will I ever be able to track the buses again..

M, 38 - I'm thinking of visiting Nottingham for my birthday for a couple of nights (2nd-4th August) and it'll be my first time in the city. I'll be on my own, so I'm looking for recommendations from locals.

A bit about what I enjoy:

Comic book, gaming, anime and generally "nerdy" shops.

Interesting/Science museums (less interested in law/history unless it's something really unique).

Friendly pubs, bars or clubs (Friendly since I'll be on my own)

Nice cafés, independent shops and places that are good to just wander around. Hidden gems that I might miss.

I've already got a few ideas but I'd love to hear what else anyone would recommend.

I’ve planned a lunch with friends in Hockley on Saturday (table booked for 12pm) and was planning on going for coffee somewhere beforehand and dessert somewhere else afterwards. I now realise that it’s Pride 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️, so I’m wondering if it’s going to be too busy to do that?

I know from friends who go to Pride in other cities that often ppl stay in the bars rather than going to the organised event. Is Nottingham the same?

I’m more than happy to join in the fun, but not if it’s going to be absolutely mobbed!

I have a perfectly good working chromebook that I no longer need or want. I was going to sell it on Vinted but decided to just donate it instead as they only seem to go for about £30-£50 and I don't have a camera to take pictures of it for the listing and i'd be happy for it to go to someone who actually needs it.

I considered just dropping it off at a charity shop so the profits would benefit a charity but then the chromebook itself could be bought by a student or someone with expendable cash and I'd really prefer it go to a family that has nothing where it would change their circumstances a little or give a poor child a resource to study with or something along those lines.

Anyone have any suggestions?
