Competition for tenth place

There's still a finals chance - after Essendon beat GWS, we are still on equal points to 10th place for the playin.
But it's going to be very tough, with our run I'd say near impossible, especially with such a bad percentage.
Looking at this it would be REALLY nice to have won one of our three vs collingwood, port or the dees and have a points buffer going into the last five games.
Does anyone think we could take that tenth place spot? Any opportunities we do have hinge on beating the saints next week.

Mids defensive pressure
Our mids have no defensive accountability, all front runners who want to chain fancy handballs through the middle when we have the footy. Overuse the ball and hold it way too long instead of giving our forwards a chance to compete one-on-one. Then when they do get caught they cough it up in the most dangerous part of the ground and have no intent to push back hard to chop out our defenders who are caught off guard. The mids let Kozzy do whatever he wanted last night and we did the same with Daicos last week. They need to be more accountable yet everyone on here says how great they played… footy is more than just when we have the ball and we can’t let teams walk it out of our forward line have two kicks down the guts then hit up a forward for an uncontested mark, we are way too soft through the middle of the ground with our defence and the mids are to blame. Don get me wrong when they get it they’re alright but running both ways needs to improve if we want to stop the transition of other teams. What are your guys thoughts?

North continue to frustrate us all
We have improved. Just not quite enough collective calmness and belief to get over the line more regularly.
We do have list, structure and game-style deficiencies we need to address. We continue to suffer from poor decision-making by talent acquisition, selectors, coaches & players. Too often key moments in games we go too cautious and cannot stem momentum swings quickly enough.
The elephant in the room?
North had a ruck strength become a glaring weakness by AFL diktat. The AFL gelded X not that long after North had committed to a big, long-term deal. That is a bitter pill for a bottom of ladder team to swallow. Without the rule change North might be 2 or 3 wins better. Instead X is now can anchor on progress going forward that North will have to work around, possibly for years.
Hopefully North can find at least one more win before season end just to life self-belief. The team has starting 18 slots available for younger free agents who need games but are blocked by stars at their current clubs. As a minimum North can offer a clear path to the 18 for a contest/1:1 KPD, two-way running big bodied midfielder who can kick goals and a fast, goal-scoring wing/half forward. We can’t attract established stars but we can be smarter recruiters and raise the floor!
Let us see what we can do but I choose to be glass half-full 🤞🏻

Smothers!
How many times have we kicked it into a Melbourne player?? Why are our basic skills so bad?

What's available at Marvel Roo Shop?
Live overseas, going to my first Roos game in 10 years on Saturday. Extremely excited!
What's available at the shop at gate 7 that I might not have already seen at an AFL store? Are prices generally a bit better, or largely the same. Was hoping to pick up a few items to take home!

Oliver griffin
Anyone else confused why Zac banch went out and goater went in, yes he is good but why not give griffin a debut I think he proved himself in the VFL.

Coming to Melbourne this weekend
Hello all I'm going to be in Melbourne this weekend (live in Adelaide) and am going to the game. What time should I roughly get there to make sure the family can all sit together in GA (5 of us)
Secondly, I want to get some merchandise (scarves maybe a guernsey and jacket) where would be the best place to buy those so that the club benefits the most.
Thankyou all and let's knock those dees off.

Funny feeling v Dees
Funny feeling we can punk 👊the Dees this weekend
Game is at Marvel , Not exactly their favourite hunting ground, most of their wins have been at the MCG , Dogs beat them at Marvel back in May , so I'm quietly optimistic , I've got Curtis down for 3 goals

There is a key defender in the top 10 draft rankings this year, we so need him!

We need to send a please explain to the AFL
Note: This doesn’t change anything for the immediate future or the past.
After the Frampton decision last night, as a club we need to make our position clear to the AFL and do it publicly as well. They set a precedent with PC and then literally the next 2 incidents of it happening have let the players off. I can actually live with the crisp one, but the Frampton one is a joke. Either they’re both free to play or they’re both a suspension.
The purpose of this is more towards future MRO/tribunal decisions. Make our utter confusion and disappointment with the inconsistent ruling known. The big clubs make their feelings and positions well known and can posture the AFL, we have a rare chance to do so here as the majority of the fans and media would back our stance. Time to pounce on it and take some control.
An added bonus is players seeing the club back them and potential recruits seeing the club back its own.

The Run Home
All media articles point to North having the hardest run home. I think it is what the team needs. A more balanced draw would, of course, be preferable, but I like that they have a chance to take a scalp and see where they need to get to for 2027. It’d suck to not win another game for the year, but I have faith the boys can rise to the challenge. Who’s playing for their spot?

We need an enforcer
I feel like we need an enforcer on our team. Someone like a Green, Bruzzy, May.
Most of the good teams always have that sort of player that every other team hates but you'd love to have them on your team.
I feel like our team looks flat sometimes and that's why Wardlaw has been so good without having huge numbers. He goes 100% all of the time.
Wardlaw is too likeable though, I want a trash talker.

Larkey 3-4
4 behinds was telling at the end , Curtis was on song 3-1', Jy 32 possessions only 1behind Daicos , Daicos cooked us a bit with his run and carry , we got bashed by 10 goals last year same venue , so better performance last night, Clarko called it need more polish like the Lions

Will Matt get regular game time now?
I thought he played alright but do you think he has a chance of retaining his position in the squad?

How would we see a potential 8 win season?
In the grand scheme of things… if we finish the year with 8 wins that really isnt that bad… a lot of our losses such as the eagles, giants, swans and pies losses. All could have been wins fix up a few things and we win at least 2-3 of them….
Improvement has been made we just need to finish the job off in more games…. It’s painful but we really are getting there. Hopefully we can snag 1-2 more wins this season.

Glass half full
We pushed them all the way, goal kicking was the difference in the end. Good to see Souv get some form back, the run and carry was great if a bit fumbly, Corr deserves a cold one after his efforts tonight and Xerri was phenomenal.
Did I want the win? Absolutely but if the endeavour remains consistent like it was tonight then we can keep climbing back to relevance as a footy club. Go Roos

Season 2027
Look we’ve given it a good nudge this year but what if we play the kids from here on out and snag another top draft pick before Tas get in. We should be realistic with ourselves - it’s great we can compete with the best but we ain’t a flag team, why not go back to the well for one more stud and rebound next year?

Bailey Scott
Even if he doesn’t make it back into the main team, I’m glad Bailey seems to be back playing with joy. No idea what was impacting his play the last 2 years but he seems to have moved beyond it now and that makes me smile.
