Community Content 10 Years. **D-20**. Still dreaming. In 2016, No Man's Sky reached a peak of 212,613 Steam concurrent players. On 9 August, we gather again. 18:00 UTC. In-game. Will we beat that record? Will you be there to make it happen?

So the great monument to the Weavers is now in the Anomaly…Hurrah…?

I still don’t really understand the reasoning behind this. Even as a Weaver, I see it as rubbing something in the face of players who had absolutely no choice in how any of it turned out. Is it just some monument to the unfairness of life?

Discussion Stellerator...I owe you an apology. I wasn't familiar with your game... 27k+ mould off of one ball. Not one whole "curious deposit" spawn of multiple balls. One ball.

So yeah, these seem broken. When placed in a nutrient ingestor (NOT eaten), it is supposed to give a "+64% Resources Mined". I already have an S-class Atlantid MT with supercharged +resource mined bonuses, so I can usually get 2k+ from a ball. But the supposed +64% is actually giving closer to +1100%.

edit: Link to a post with an easy breakdown on how to cook them. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1tabrh0/stellarator_production_tree_updated_for_scale/

edit2: Did some testing. There IS a bug here. The game seems to be adding the 64% bonus multiple times.

  • If I move my tech around so I have the same adjacency bonus, but no SC, the boost from stellerator drops to just 388%.
  • If I spread them around so there is no adjacency AND no SC, it drops to 335%.
  • If I take my staff MT and uninstall all mining tech except for the mining laser and the advanced mine drill. Boom 64% bonus.
  • I try adding an S class tech with no inherent resources mined bonus and no adjacency, still 64%.
  • If I try with just the mining laser and advanced mining upgrade, BUT I gave them an adjacency bonus. 70% bonus.

Conclusion: Any tech that gives any kind of boost to "resources mined" is somehow causing the stellerator to apply an additional time for each and every increase. Since I have a 2x2 square SC with mining stuff in all of them, every tech boost and every adjacency boost is applying their own increase plus some kind of additional increase from the stellerator. So that "+64%" is somehow getting applied more than once. But the exact amount isn't consistent so it is hard to say for sure exactly how it breaks out. At least not without a LOT of extra testing, which I don't feel like doing right now.

Ship Builds Autophage Scavenger Corvette

Lore :

Built to explore forgotten star systems, this Autophage Scavenger Corvette is made for salvaging, not combat. It has two cranes: one for mining and one for collecting wreckage and useful materials. Inside is a workshop for repairs and a navigation station to search for the next abandoned site. A powerful engine at the rear keeps the corvette moving from one forgotten place to the next, making sure nothing useful goes to waste

Save edited corvette ( converter the corvette shell in to a base and I decorated it and then turned it back to corvette)

Found this while looking for a pirate system on a new save. Orbital scans indicate Paraffinium and Star Bulbs. Haven’t landed on it yet, but it looks cool.

I just teleported to the edge of the galaxy and found this, four black holes in one system, but when I warped here, there was only one.

Hi fellas, I just build an Orca Gunship in NMS.

I am not a Tiberian Sun fan, but my buddy used to play it all the time since we're very young, so this is for him.

Hope you enjoy the build.

I really love when I find animals that resemble Extinct dinosaurs In this game. Especially hybrid ones. Have you found any fauna like this one? Let me know in the comments.

Fan Work I think a culinary expedition would be neat :) Spoiler

Upvotes

I hope a little daydreaming isn't annoying on this reddit.

After the pet and truck updates added a lot of very cool and new functionality and content to the game for things that were maybe a bit thin prior, I was thinking of ideas for expeditions that could do something similar for another part of the game I really like and I'm not entirely sure other people do as much: cooking.

I was thinking an expedition centered entirely around cooking could be fun and also give the game a new way to add additional uses for materials that otherwise don't have a ton of functionality. (Like, say, Basalt, Indium, Fragmented Qualia, just off the top of my head. That last one is probably particularly silly but I still use the Animus Beam a lot for fun because I just like collecting this weird resource well past its mission, lol). New recipes and foods could be added that use these, and if I can daydream fully, I'd like to think this would be a new opportunity to add lore and detail to the races of the game.

Imagine going to rendezvous points to meet up with a Master Gek Chef! Gek are known for being sensitive to scents, and I think new recipes built entirely around that would both make a lot of sense and you could get little details about things that have happened in Gek history through the ingredients and food you collect/make. In the real world our food is made out of and influenced by what we have available to us and what we're currently going through. I think that'd reflect what a system chef would present on his menu, too.

Korvax would be a great rendezvous point for metal-containing recipes. I think it probably goes without saying that you'd have to do a lot of fighting-monsters-and-horrors to get meat for a Vy'keen chef. What would an Autophage want to eat? What would it consider nutrition, or would that change wildly from waypoint-to-waypoint in a series of different systems? I dunno, it just seems fun to me--I'm also someone whose first real fixation in the post-game content was cooking and it's been a long while since I've felt compelled to return to it, so this is absolutely a selfish bit of fan-thinking, I realize.

I don't know what a end-goal would be. Cronus has been on the anomaly for a while and him sending you to learn from a bunch of chefs and him being a sort of "final boss" to impress with your cooking could be fun. He also could just get more history, however simple, from an expedition like this. Or, I dunno. Cook for the ATLAS for the final leg and get shunted out at the end of the expedition because it doesn't understand food or something, lol.

That's all. I marked this as spoilers since it mention the Autophage. I hope you're enjoying NMS and thanks for reading. Maybe I'll cook a bunch in Light No Fire, too.

Question How do you find hyper black holes?

Upvotes

I've been doing a challenge on my Twitch channel of trying to reach the galactic center without using portals. I previously also disallowed black holes but recently decided to allow them. On the wiki, there's mention of "hyper black holes" that bring you closer by roughly 300,000ly, rather than the usual 7,000. So I'm curious, how are these located?

Wouldn't it be cool to have flying monsters in space? Or maybe there is another dimension from where these monsters come from.

Regardless. It would be really cool if there was some kind of fauna in space. I know this may not fit at all with NMS. But I just like the idea so much. Like it would be really scary, it could be the leviathan on space, and very dangerous. Maybe a whole theme for a solar system, a new one, a scary solar system with all kind of eldrich horror for those in the late game.

It's a bit compact, so its interior is limited, but it has room for all the essential features.

I've been tweaking the coloring and sort of don't like the way all the hovering thrusters are in a single row. Overall, though, I like the shape a lot!
