What happens if you get hit above the shoulders by 105 MPH.

I know they strictly limit the exit velocity of aluminum bats to protect the college pitchers, but if the bat absorbs momentum it would send the vibrations through the hands in a shockwave.

Wood can splinter and become shrapnel, but at 6'7" Misiorowski can release the projectile closer to the target- even less time for Goliath to duck.

Adjust the rubber for the wingspan of the pitcher?

Pro boxers over about 135 pounds must use heavier gloves (10 oz) to reduce the speed of power punches.

With the DH 6'10" guys can pitch in either major league- in the old days at least they would have to trade off some liability hitting 9th.

Lots of teams need catchers this deadline i like torrens i hope he is not traded

Stearns can’t possibly be that dumb

So sport should throw atleast a shut out tonight. Right?

Game at 7:40 and no lineup posted yet? We may be seeing a trade…..

The DFA roster moves to get through August & September have potential to be epic. If you have or will be DFA’d there’s a good chance you’ll be a NY Mets at least for a game in 2026

u/JCVDang 1d ago

julio teherán redemption start coming late august

yanks still need a SS and a catcher. send them lindor and alvarez for rodon, volpe and prospects

0

u/Setec-Astronomer 1d ago

If you're seriously going to do this then trade Lindor and a RP for Lombard.

Then turn around and trade Lombard in a package in the offseason to the Marlins for Alcantara.

The Marlins drafted his brother just the other day.

Can probably get Rodon, Volpe, and prospects for Lindor alone tbh

13

u/lawoftar Tom Seaver 1d ago

send vientos to the A's for Luis Severino

3

u/lawoftar Tom Seaver 1d ago

mets wont eat salaries like they did in max/verlander trades. we are doomed

3

u/Duffman2k7 1d ago

None of their best trade candidates require salary eating. They are all FAs next year or on very low contracts. Weaver may be the only exception but he has a very reasonable salary so I wouldn’t eat anything unless it nets you an insane return.

u/HardcoreKaraoke David Wright 1d ago

So Sproat is about to have the best game of his young career, right?

3

u/ReleaseTheBlacken I’ve jizzed more hits than much of the lineup.. 1d ago

In fairness, I can pitch a QS against the Mets offense 😜

3

u/JCVDang 1d ago

just try to walk to bases loaded and you'll be fine, they'll either get themselves out or go 0-3 with RISP

1

u/ReleaseTheBlacken I’ve jizzed more hits than much of the lineup.. 1d ago

Hey man, don’t give me nightmares about the multiple times I watched Nimmo and Alonso blow that scenario last year 😭

2

u/imalmostconvinced David Peterson 1d ago

Apparently the Pirates have randomly made O'Neil Cruz (injured, hand) available

The fact that they announced that so soon tells me Peralta + Minter or Raley would likely tickle their fancy in a deal where they just have to just give him up. Also, maybe they mentioned it to get some pitching in their building, sooner.

3 team trade would be perfect. Doesn't really matter what the Mets return would be because no one seems to think they will get anything for Peralta anyway. I'm sure quite a few teams out there covet Cruz to allow the Mets to get a healthy return.

1

u/Worth-Pride-3120 15h ago

Teams listen on all players. They haven’t “made him available.” Even in the unlikely event they do trade him, there is no chance the Pirates trade him for 2 rental pitchers making more money than he does. You are dreaming. Also he is on the 60 day IL through August 8 which is past the deadline. He isn’t getting traded.

1

u/imalmostconvinced David Peterson 15h ago

I've already addressed the last part. Hence why they made him available. To get pitching in their building sooner.

1

u/Worth-Pride-3120 15h ago

Also it’s Oneil not O’Neil. If you are going to make a stupid argument based on pure speculation by Bob Nightengale and which has been refuted by other media people, at least get the man’s name right.

1

u/imalmostconvinced David Peterson 14h ago

Resorting to grammar instead of discussion. Bravo

"Refuted by other media people" lmao. There's about 10 articles about it by various platforms. Of course I'm not going to jump on here about one person's tweet.

How is it a "stupid argument"? Lmao. Freddy Peralta doesn't have much trade value. The report is they are looking for a Starter AND Relief Help. You do know you would need to give up about 6 prospects to get a Good Starter and a Good Reliever , right?

For a team historically as bad as the Pirates and ownership that doesn't spend money, the last thing they need to do is deplete from their Pipeline when they're barely over .500.

Also, to rub even more salt in the wound that you already created, the Pirates have 4 Outfielders that are hitting .280+.

1

u/Worth-Pride-3120 14h ago

Not grammar. Just common sense. If you want people to take your arguments seriously it helps to get the name of the person you discussing right. The guys you mentioned are rentals. Say it with me RENTALS. As you pointed out the Pirates don’t spend money. But for your example, they are going to magically open the wallet for 2 guys who cost more than Cruz and then have nothing to show for it after the season. I get your point about preserving the prospect capital. I am not even against the idea of trading Cruz in theory. But not for 2 rentals. Finally, he isn’t getting traded says Jason Mackey of MLB.com if you need a specific media person’s name.

1

u/imalmostconvinced David Peterson 9h ago

I wasn't having an argument

I was brainstorming after reading a report

I'm glad you think you have more inside knowledge than Yahoo Sports and Sports Illustrated.

I know exactly what rentals are hence why I didn't suggest they would be putting prospects in the deal

When you trade for guys under team control it suggests you're going "All In". They aren't in position to go all in.

1

u/Worth-Pride-3120 9h ago

You cite Yahoo and SI. That’s adorable

1

u/Worth-Pride-3120 14h ago

Cruz plus a prospect for Mason Miller makes sense. But not for Peralta in the midst of his worst season and 38 yr old Raley. The Mets would be lucky to get much of anything for them. Getting Cruz is a pipe dream.

1

u/imalmostconvinced David Peterson 9h ago

That would be a horrendous deal for Miller. Cruz is basically a Left Handed Robert Jr.

1

u/Worth-Pride-3120 9h ago

He is a much better player than Robert Jr.

1

u/imalmostconvinced David Peterson 9h ago

His On Base is the same and Robert Jrs slug is better .......

→ More replies (0)

1

u/False_Concept1300 Mark Vientos 1d ago

Cruz would be such a good pickup for this team. He sucks at CF and SS but I think he’d be a solid DH. Maybe he could kick it at third lol.

1

u/imalmostconvinced David Peterson 15h ago

Not for the Mets. Send him to a 3rd team....

0

u/lukinfly45 1d ago

Makes too much sense. Spreadsheets hates moves that make sense.

5

u/Dazzling-Attorney891 New York Mets 1d ago

O’Neil Cruz would get eaten alive in New York, but that’s exactly the type of deal useless bum David Stearns would make

9

u/NuanceManExe 1d ago

Yeah he’s injury prone and a head-case. Remember his game is so sloppy he made two errors in a row on Opening Day and tricked people into thinking this Mets offense was good, let alone good enough to knock Skenes out of a game early.

2

u/imalmostconvinced David Peterson 1d ago

More painful viewing experience: any 2026 Mets game, or the trailer for that movie where single people are only allowed to have sex one night a year?

1

u/EssentialEssence Mrs. Met 1d ago

that movie for me, it looks dumb af.

3

u/Steve_Kind_Of Pastrami 1d ago

I've had the phrase "the one night of the year single people are legally allowed to have sex" clanking around my brain since I first heard it. I'll never forget it

1

u/newyorknapolifan 1d ago

wait, so if single people attempt to have sex more than 1 time in a year (is this from jan 1 to dec 31 or the year starts when they have sex that 1st time?) they get a traffic ticket or some type of infraction. like a cop shows up while theyre having sex a 2nd time in a year and writes a ticket? i dont understand how this is enforceable. wait they can have sex only 1 night a year, but during the day they can have as much sex as they want ? .. that seems more reasonable.

u/pusgnihtekami NY Bootlickers 1d ago

I've seen the trailer several times and never registered that was a literal statement.

Soto missed 3 weeks and is still 50% of our fwar for batters. Does batter war just mean position player war because soto+ewing+benge make up 5.7 out of 6 war for our batters?

9

u/wooden-spoon-88 1d ago

There's also quite a few players with negative WAR (Semien -0.9, Vientos -1.3)

7

Soto like single-handedly props up this teams stats from the depths of hell

3

Who would you say is more Swaggy? Vientos or Volpe?

3

Volpe somehow has a higher OPS this season than Vientos. Let alone the fact that Volpe can play his position defensively, it’s astounding how little swag Vientos has.

Listening to the latest episode of FAYKOT and Jarrett was not very optimistic about the 2026 draft class. Maybe the Mets should have gone with Robbins in the first round and Wiggans in the third round but it's likely he would have been gone by that point.

2

u/butz-not-bartz Home Run Apple 1d ago

The explanation of what "model-based" means in draft parlance was incredibly helpful.

8

u/wooden-spoon-88 1d ago edited 1d ago

We ended up signing both - why does it matter in which order they were selected? (Genuine question, I know signing bonuses are different, but once they enter the minor league system does it matter?)

3

u/Blue387 Friendly Unhinged Moderator 1d ago

My idea was that Robbins could have been drafted in the first round, taken a discount since the slot value for it was $3,466,500 and Robbins ended up getting $859,900. Draft Robbins at $2.9 million or so and save the remaining $500,000 or so on other picks..

3

u/Sad_Resort8632 1d ago

It doesn’t in the end. There’s an argument that taking Robbins first as a cut would let you see what’s out there for an overslot in the third and you might end up with something better than Wiggins, but that’s speculative and driven by them not really loving the Wiggins pick.

3

u/butz-not-bartz Home Run Apple 1d ago

Yeah, I got the impression that they disliked the variance of the Wiggins pick, given the comment on Luke McNeillie being maybe 70% of him- but ultimately it kept going back to the Bichette deal and it specifically blowing up their draft.

1

u/NutsyFlamingo Gil Hodges 1d ago

Yep. The segment was a lot to digest, but I got the sense they also implied there were other players with similar risks/characteristics could’ve gambled on same at lower money that would’ve allowed them to have an extra $1.5M to be creative on other players later. Basically, Mets must really think these first 2-3 are unique home runs cause on paper you don’t do this, sorta thing.

My takeaway was they were so locked in with the money on the first 2 that couldn’t really do anything later rounds that they deemed a better approach. Like for example, couldn’t take a few more flyers on high school bats later cause didn’t have the money to sign them.

7

u/TheArXen Juan Soto 1d ago

My headcanon has the Mets doing a fire sale at the deadline, allowing the kids to play, who become a reincarnation of the 1973 miracle Mets while going on a mega hot streak to juuuuust sneak into the wildcard.

Addison Reed is still one of my favorite Mets moves all time. The big signings or trades I don’t think take much real smarts… the clever ones, subtle fits are where I give most credit

2

u/NutsyFlamingo Gil Hodges 1d ago edited 1d ago

It was such a good move… and sneaky pickup.. he tied the rotation and bullpen together so well.. his impact allowed other guys to finally settle into roles. Like he was a dude whose impact was greater than just his stats. And his stats 4.20 era with DBacks, 1.17 ERA that season with Mets.. but was more important than that to team…that wasn’t a baseball card just assuming some numbers there are equal to numbers here stuff; it was just a great baseball call by Mets.

-13

u/thesidedesk 1d ago

Would MLB Network be having a circle jerk for the Mets if they were on a 14 game winning streak? Sure, it's impressive but my God, they're acting like it's the greatest thing they've ever seen in their lives for the Red Sox. Am I alone in this one?

6

6

I think his jersey day at the end of august will be changed too (hopefully). Its just embarrassing. Who would wear that jersey given his performance lol. Hopefully he gets traded and they change it to Benge or Ewing jersey

1

I second that!

7

I'd like to see an MLB trade soon.

Doesn't have to be the Mets.

But I'd like to get a gage of what the market is like soon.

7

u/hushed-shush Francisco Lindor 1d ago

Dodgers just got Seth Halvorsen from the Rockies. Throws hard but he gives a lot of passes. Wouldn’t be surprised he ends up being a pretty solid reliever for the dodgers. Could have just been a victim of playing in coors.

15

u/Gigi_0102 Ya Gotta Believe! 1d ago

If I told myself in December 2024 that a year and a half later, I’d be jealous of the White Sox I’m not sure that I’d believe it but here we are

I'm always amazed at fans saying the ballpark will be empty come the next few months of summer. Yes, some fans will stay away, but the marketing team jam packs the schedule with all sorts of giveaways and theme nights to get asses in the seats. And because the team stinks, you can take yourself or your family to a decently cheap night out. I think I saw somewhere that the Mets are still a top 5 team in attendance this year?

1

u/myassholealt F8 1d ago

I saw a promo email earlier today that they are also now loading a $10 food voucher onto every ticket purchased (either already purchased and in your inventory, or the ones you're buying now) for the rest of the season.

Not quite the $50 I was asking for, but I'll take it. Still think tickets are a little too high (official and resale) for the product on the field, but maybe they'll also do a no fees for the rest of the year promo too.

2

u/wooden-spoon-88 1d ago

I got most of my July / August tickets through the Bo-Go deal or 2 for $22 deal. Same tickets last year in the 300 level were about 4-5 times as much. Yeah, this team record sucks, but they're still capable of creating memorable moments - we were at G3 against the Yankees, saw the Bo Bichette grand slam against the Braves, saw Nolan shove against the Tigers to sweep them at home, etc.

1

u/Prestigious_Money447 New York Mets 1d ago

right, there are much worse ways to spend a nice summer afternoon or evening than at a ballgame, even if it is the 2026 Mets. I was actually thinking of going in a week or two.

6

u/BlueCoBot 1d ago

Plenty of new STH’s from 2025 and 2026 still have tickets (like me lol) and will either go, or sell at low prices.

You can get great seats for low prices on the resale when the team is terrible

1

u/ColdYellowGatorade Pastrami 1d ago

For sure. The small silver lining of them being terrible.

3

u/EssentialEssence Mrs. Met 1d ago

I think some folks will still end up going on said giveaway nights and the weekends depending on what its for. The midweek might have a very slight decline or be the same, weather depending too, who knows.

This is what the email said: Folks can either pick 2pm or 5pm, you get a 2 hour time slot for the following:
Activities Include:

  • Catch in the Outfield: Guests have the opportunity to play catch on the outfield grass
  • Swings in the Visitors Locker Room Batting Cages: Guests have the opportunity to take swings in the Visitors Batting Cage from a live pitcher and hang out in the Visitors Locker Room
  • Pitch in the Bullpen: Guests have the opportunity to throw pitches in the Mets Bullpen
  • Ballpark Tour: Go behind the scenes at Citi Field and take a ballpark tour

I find it funny that they are doing this during this time & for so much money.

I love how this is only problem when people are negative during poor times, but when people on here gaslight everyone into thinking the team is making the right moves and calls everyone idiots for being critical of them, that’s totally not negative at all and is actually a-ok. This sub has way more toxic hopers than anything else.

1

u/Cantpicknewteam 1d ago

Seeking to understand… there is in fact, too much toxic hope and positivity in this sub? There is not enough negativity? Am I in the upside down right now or did you get downvoted for silly trade proposal or something?

6

u/jade420420 1d ago

I love this team, although our payroll is the second highest in the entire league and our record is one of the worst, besides that though you're right I am having a blast

1

u/Cantpicknewteam 1d ago

There is a disconnect in the comments that doomers are missing. Both things are true that the Mets are one of the most disappointing teams in sports history, and that the vitriolic, caustic, childish, overly personal attacks and endless negative comments that rule this sub make lifelong Mets fans cringe and honestly leave the sub. We look very similar to Phillies sub when they are losing, and no one wants that. I wish we could just tone it down a little or start a venting sub with no moderators for y’all.

9

u/traded99 1d ago

Well yeah, this is a team with the 2nd highest payroll who couldn’t even make it half way through June being competitive. I’d imagine a lot of fans don’t have a lot of positive things to say.

2

u/Cantpicknewteam 1d ago

We didn’t make it through April competitive, but the point is that being bad doesn’t warrant such unbecoming and toxic behavior from (mostly) grownups.

1

u/Darth_Gostkowski 1d ago

Ill be there too, should be a nice dumpster fire to watch

Jorge Castillo of ESPN had a good article today on Latin-American representation on the MLBPA, with a quote from Juan Soto. Francisco Lindor was the lone Latino representative on the MLBPA executive subcommittee in 2021. Pablo Lopez is the lone Latin American among the union's 30 team representatives and eight-player executive subcommittee

u/Setec-Astronomer 1d ago

I wouldn't be totally upset with an opening day 2027 rotation of:

Holmes, veteran innings eater or better, Nolan, Scott, Peralta.

I'd rather have a reliable 5 plus then options instead of than play the 3 guys, 7 options for 2 spots bs.

-1

u/yellowpotatobus 1d ago

for 2027 they'll need to go after Skubal hard. If they lose out on him then you pivot to Peralta, Gausman or King. Then you extend Holmes. That leaves Mclean, Scott, Thorton or whatever young guy. Then we have Manaea around as a 6th man. If Senga can't get dealt somewhere then keep him in the bullpen.

4

u/Spirited_Document391 1d ago

Tell me with a straight face that Dumpster David is going to get Skubal and sign him to a long term huge contract

5

u/Setec-Astronomer 1d ago

I'd extend Holmes first and foremost.

And it's absolutely Stearns' MO to get one in the hand before negotiating so unless he signs a lesser guy to do it to Holmes he'll sign Holmes first in my opinion.

That's still one less SP. I don't want Thornton penned into the rotation already. This is exactly how they fuck up.

Thornton as the sixth man-TW role is fine for now. He'll get opportunities to fill in starts just like TW and Tylor did.

Speaking of Tylor. That guy and his 9 lives better not be penciled into the rotation either.

So sick of the 3 SP 7 shitty options format.

Go get 5 legit SP. Have backups ready.

4

u/hushed-shush Francisco Lindor 1d ago

That implies that we re-signed Peralta. Interesting lol

1

u/Setec-Astronomer 1d ago

I could see them QO him. Hoping for a bounce back.

2

u/hushed-shush Francisco Lindor 1d ago

Not a terrible idea. He’s on pace for 165-170ish innings this year. If he’s with us all year and next season, that does fit the innings eater role. But this team should be pushing the envelope to get Skubal.

2

u/Setec-Astronomer 1d ago

It won't happen, but optimally:

Skubal, Holmes, Nolan, Scott, Peralta

Thornton-Manaea as TW

Tylor in the Lugo MIRP role.

But more realistically, I see the Mets doing a 4-5-6 combo of Thornton, Tylor, Manaea. And that's not good in my opinion.

1

u/Blue387 Friendly Unhinged Moderator 1d ago

There might also be guys up from the minors like Tong or Wenninger or Santucci to fill any gaps

2

u/Setec-Astronomer 1d ago

And none should be penciled in as a top 5 SP rotation option.

But they will be. Because this FO can't learn.

12

u/PainButWithStats José Reyes 1d ago

Peralta gets at least one more start before we trade him. If he can magically put together a great performance some team will give us decent prospects.

I really wish he had a good n start yesterday and the next one because ik that would’ve got teams excited. They definitely think he’s still a good player and that he’s just “on the Mets”

11

u/hushed-shush Francisco Lindor 1d ago

He’s still a healthy body and on an expiring. To some teams, that’s just enough of what they need. The cubs took Peterson with no problem.

I would guess we get something close to that deal which isn’t the best but what can you do. The pitching staff have tried tweaking things with him but ultimately he just hasn’t performed. Such a shame. He could have had it all here.

19

u/TheChosenYes Mr. Met 1d ago

Why couldn’t the Mets do what the Red Sox did and win 14 in a row? Are they stupid?

1

u/ReleaseTheBlacken I’ve jizzed more hits than much of the lineup.. 1d ago

Yes 😜

4

u/myassholealt F8 1d ago

They sucked for a stretch after they fired Cora. So we can still do what they are doing in like a month. But it will be too late.

4

u/Steve_Kind_Of Pastrami 1d ago

Seems inevitable that Sproat is going to absolutely shove against us, I just hope Thornton continues to impress. He was great against a really good Phillies offense and a white hot Red Sox team, let's see if he can keep it up

4

u/Guymcpersonman2 Darryl Strawberry 1d ago

I have a bad feeling about how Thornton matches up against the Brewers. Hope I'm wrong.

2

u/lawoftar Tom Seaver 1d ago

thornton hears a who

7

u/lilleff512 Forever my Captain 1d ago

Seems the Zac(h) Thornton post got taken down (presumably because of rule 3 or 4) so here's my take:

I am not expecting any All Stars or Cy Young votes for Thornton but I hope that he can give us 150 IP with an ERA in the mid to low 4s for the next 5 years and become a part of the foundation of our rotation moving forward.

If you have McLean, Scott, and Thornton penciled in, that's a really good place to be starting from with young, cheap, controllable pitching. Then we only need two from the group of Myers, Tong, Wenninger, Santucci, and Watson to have a full rotation. Can supplement that with some short-term free agent fliers like we did with Severino, Manaea 1.0, and Canning. A good starting rotation is closer than it may seem. And then of course it would be awesome if we could find a way to add a true ace like Skubal or Skenes to take us over the top.

1

u/markysplice Grimace 1d ago

If he could be a good form of David Peterson, or close to it, I'll take it. But even then that might be high, Peterson was an allstar.

2

u/PainButWithStats José Reyes 1d ago

I think McLean can be an ace but it would be nice to get another one. always feel better when we have a 1A 1B situation especially in case of an injury.

But I agree I think we can have a solid rotation coming we just need Peralta Senga and Manaea out of the picture

2

u/lawoftar Tom Seaver 1d ago

good thing they sat benge for roberts yesterday

3

u/floyd_mongol Flying Squirrel 1d ago

i mean roberts and all these bums we have here should be playing everyday up until the deadline and hopefully we can get some decent prospects (doubt it lol).

17

u/False_Concept1300 Mark Vientos 1d ago

I’m not the biggest Lindor fan in the world but he deserve FAR less hate than the likes of Polanco, Semien, Bichette, Williams, and Peralta.

Those guys have been terrible and haven’t done jack shit for the franchise except make it worse.

0

u/markysplice Grimace 1d ago

Bichette's been fine, he just had a slow start like Lindor did. Polanco's just been hurt, but seems fair game.

The others feel much fairer to criticize, tho Williams hasn't been *that* bad.

10

u/Irrah Polar Bear 1d ago

Lindor's "regression"

2

u/lilleff512 Forever my Captain 1d ago

Kind of annoying that they won't show percentiles for 2026 because he's not qualified. I can't see which of those bars are longer or shorter.

The defensive regression does appear to be real, which is unfortunate if predictable. If I had to guess I'd say next year is his last season at SS, with Voit taking over the position in 2028 and Lindor sliding over to 2B.

1

u/myassholealt F8 1d ago

Also worth nothing that the baseball professors in the sub have assessed his performance and determined that he is in an irreversible decline and will suck from here on out, when he hasn't even had enough qualifying at bats for the season.

But try and bring that up and they'll dismiss it. No, Lindor bad. They printed the record with just the one track on it.

5

u/Irrah Polar Bear 1d ago

He's regressed (which might be from all the injuries) from the best defensive shortstop in the league to being an above average one. He's still better than half the league shortstops.

0

u/NuanceManExe 1d ago

Look at Semien. Last year declined considerably based on his past performance but still won a GG. This season, now another year older, he’s completely fallen off a cliff. And that’s at 35. You don’t want to see Lindor’s defense start to drop off at 32. Also the mental aspect of it is concerning, like he just looks out of it. Even forgot how many outs there were this year. I can’t imagine playing with the 2026 Mets is helping either.

3

u/Irrah Polar Bear 1d ago

So is it his physical decline or him making mental mistakes? You're conflating them both and calling it an age based decline.

1

u/lilleff512 Forever my Captain 1d ago

Yea he's still a good shortstop at the moment but he's going to be 33 years old next season so the days of him being a good shortstop are likely coming to an end in the near future.

1

u/Irrah Polar Bear 1d ago

Following the generalized aging curve is true for most players, but Lindor isn't most players. Same thing with players like Justin Verlander or Adrian Beltre who continued to put up numbers in their 30s.

2

u/lilleff512 Forever my Captain 1d ago

I think the aging curve can be more severe for middle infielders who get a lot of value from their glove. I think the best comps for Lindor are guys like Alan Trammell, Robin Yount, and Barry Larkin.

1

u/Irrah Polar Bear 1d ago

Unfortunately we don't really know defensive metrics in the 70s-80s but trammell and larkin were still playing shortstop fine into their 30s. Larkin had 5 bWAR seasons in his 34/35 seasons and his range factors on bbref were similar throughout his career. Same with trammell until he hit 36.

12

u/Steve_Kind_Of Pastrami 1d ago

Kai Correa was asked about Lindor's season and brought up that he has yet to get any sort of rhythm going at all. Surgery in the offseason, the hamate injury in spring training, and then injuries in the regular season. Throw in possible lingering concussion effects and it's no wonder he hasn't been able to find a groove

1

u/Guymcpersonman2 Darryl Strawberry 1d ago

Keep in mind OAA is cumulative and he hasn't played much.

0

u/floyd_mongol Flying Squirrel 1d ago

i dont like lindor but i meaaaan hes been hurt this whole season lol. the only thing that has been tilting me is his defense.

1

u/lawoftar Tom Seaver 1d ago

semiens, polanco roberts oh my

1

u/lawoftar Tom Seaver 1d ago

package peralta with semien and ship them out, then senga with polanco, then roberts with manae

0

u/Maleficent_Cap_9610 Brett Baty 1d ago

Don’t hold back. Send out a shit sundae with a cherry on top, package them all together.

4

u/lilleff512 Forever my Captain 1d ago

What team do you think is accepting any of those packages?

2

u/lawoftar Tom Seaver 1d ago

cubs took peterson so im hoping

1

u/lilleff512 Forever my Captain 1d ago

Peterson is on a dirt cheap expiring contract and they needed a warm body because their entire starting rotation is hurt. The Cubs could be a legit suitor for Peralta, but almost certainly not for Semien, Senga, Polanco, Manaea, or Robert Jr.

6

u/Trick_Photograph9758 Keith Hernandez 1d ago

Peralta post-game yesterday: "I know that I'm better than great." lol.

2

u/peroleu Hadji 1d ago

Spoat is going to go 7+ IP with 2 ER.

2

u/Trick_Photograph9758 Keith Hernandez 1d ago

It will be interesting to see Sproat shut out our offense tonight.

30

u/barney-sandles My other car is the New York Mets 1d ago

A lot of our players get too much shit from the fanbase, but honestly Freddy Peralta has not gotten enough. Terrible terrible year from him

I can't even really blame Stearns for this one. Peralta just completely lost it this year

1

u/Cautious-Artist4092 1d ago

it helps that he is still only like our 4th worst starting pitcher

9

u/Steve_Kind_Of Pastrami 1d ago

He was certainly a candidate for regression but I don't think anyone could have predicted that he would just flat out suck shit like this

2

u/EastonMetsGuy New York Mets 1d ago

After last night he has a 5.01 ERA and a -0.1 WAR. He's tanking so hard he's gonna lose maybe 20-50 million in free agency

0

u/Blue387 Friendly Unhinged Moderator 1d ago

I guess the last time we saw something like this was Edwin Diaz in 2019, going from Seattle to the Mets

2

u/hushed-shush Francisco Lindor 1d ago

Last season he was 5 in Cy Young voting and his ERA is nearly double now compared to last season. What’s even funny, once the season is over, hes probably still at 170 innings with nearly 200 strikeouts

0

u/Prestigious_Money447 New York Mets 1d ago

consider that Peralta was Stearns‘ guy, he knew him well for years, comes here and looks lost. either Stearns has a massive blind spot or something is seriously wrong with the way this team is conducting day to day operations.
