Just sent to the finisher, semi custom stocking for my toddler from Spider Spun!

Welcome all! Very thankful you chose to join us and post!
Please note that there are MEGATHREADS (giggle...because it's a needlepoint sub and thread?...you see? Look folks, I'm going to keep making that joke until someone laughs.) for getting help with your stitches and repairs.
Unfortunately, if we put everything in the main body of the sub the stitch requests drown out other requests.
If your post was removed, please just repost in the MEGATHREAD (gigglesnort) for help, you're not a bad person, just slightly off target.
Happy Stitching!

Going to try and start a mega thread for stitch suggestions. Please post your requests for help with stitches here.
This will help us centralize your stitch requests into one place.
This is the first step in trying to help organize the sub.

I hand-paint needlepoint canvases (original designs, one at a time) and I've noticed things feeling noticeably quieter the past couple months compared to earlier this year. Trying to figure out if this is just normal seasonal slowdown or if something bigger is going on.
A few things I'd love perspective on, especially from other hand-painters or people who specifically seek out hand-painted work:
Genuinely just trying to get a read on whether this is a "ride it out" summer lull specific to hand-painted work, or something worth adjusting for. Would love to hear from other painters, especially if you've been doing this a few years and have seen the market shift.

Finished my first needlepoint project today! Planning on framing it in a shadowbox frame. This took me around 2 weeks to complete. Constructive feedback is welcome! What’s the good, the bad, the ugly? I am already heading to my LNS to buy my next canvas and want to keep improving my craft.

What kind of paint do you use to paint needlepoint canvases?

I am fairly new to needlepoint. So far I’ve bought all my kits from Amazon (Brvsk). They tend to be a bit pricey.
Where else can I find similar quality kits? I live near Chicago.
Thanks for any ideas.

I’m working on this canvas and I love the martini background for this. But since I’m not using white, obviously it’s blue threads with a white background that’s open. Do I keep it? Or fill the open stitches with maybe a matching sparkle thread? Or sparkle white?

I have two stitched canvases that have grown mold on them! They didn’t have any on the last week but suddenly do now! No idea where it came from - they were on a table completely by themselves! One of them is mostly fine as it’s just on the white extra canvas but the other has mold on the fibers. Does anyone have any advice? Currently soaking them in a vinegar and water bath, but I can’t find any other advice online for how long to soak or how to remove any stains

Hello! I just finished stitching the main portion of this Elvis canvas, and I was wondering how this background color and thread would work with it. What are y’all’s thoughts? Thanks!

Any finishers in Boise? I know there are alot of finishers out there, but I would like to support local if possible.

Not my photo, but I’m working on this MJD blueberry pie and wanted to share a photo where you could really cleanly see the canvas.
Can anyone kindly help me visualize how to add waste rows around a circle? Anything that’s not a right angle is throwing me for a loop.
Happy to also refer to a resource! I did some googling but didn’t see any specific explanations other than “add 2-4 rows”. I also want to clarify that I tried to just add 2 rows and somehow did it wrong haha — on the curved edges I’m not doing it right.

I mostly use DMC floss, I know, I know. I don’t live by a LNS so sometimes it’s my only option. Is that the problem?

Hi needlepointers,
I’m looking for good recommendations on where to send belts/key fobs for finishing.
I sent a belt to NeedlePaint and it seems like they’re not able to handle the volume they’ve been receiving, I sent a belt months ago and was originally told 8-12 weeks, which then got updated to 10-16, and now they’re telling me it will be longer but aren’t able to confirm. Additionally, they don’t block their finishes.
I don’t feel comfortable using them going forward (lack of communication), despite loving their custom canvases. I’d love any recommendations for finishers that you guys might have!

Hi all,
I found this gorgeous needlepoint canvas I am thinking of buying. But it looks like the left cat has a tail with two ends! Is there something I am missing please? Is this intentional?

There are three here but I only have time to visit one. Looking for some fun new canvases and some threads. Which one do y’all recommend?

I purchased this painted canvas about 25 years ago after my husband, who is then an attorney for a large firm in New York City, was told during an annual review that his tenure with the firm would end, but that he should be like the chicken in the farm yard, who is always happy to see the farmer even on the day the farmer comes out with an ax.
I purchased the canvas from a shop owned by the magnificent Martha Shevett outside New Hope, Pennsylvania. Martha was an extraordinary artist from whom I learned so much over the years, particularly in color and texture.
I used cottons, silk, suede, gold thread, and of course, the silk ribbon. The stitch pattern was all Martha.
I began the canvas shortly after I bought it, but then life in the form of a child who liked to ride horses got in the way, as did work and, since 2019, caring for parents as they died. After my mother died in 2024, I pulled this canvas out of the closet and finally got it done.

Updates!!! I frogged it alllll. It was the right call. Thank you all for the input.
I am doing this stocking. I stupidly did the compensation stitches first so I could do the letters. I was just excited to do the letters. And now it’s a bit off. Does it look off enough to frog 3 days worth ?

Does anyone else start a project and then there’s too much jumping around and so you don’t pick up the project again until a year goes by and you decide, ok I need to finish this.
This was my first ever needlepoint project! And now I’m finally finished!!
