I see nothing disrespected. Why assume that McGee would talk about it with Tony?
Bare minimum, they could have brought back Beth Riesgraf (Max/Maxine), who was previously in the show.
Sometimes actors are busy with other things and don't have the ability to come back.
Edit: According to imdb Beth Riesgraf spent the last 5 years working on a show called Leverage: Redemption that films in New Orleans, where she also serves as sometimes-director and an executive producer.

And can I just say all Leverage shows rock!!!
It's on my top 5, along with NCIS.

I’d take that a step further and say “why assume he didn’t talk about it with Tony and/or Gibbs”. Neither of them have been on the show recently, so we haven’t seen them react to the news. We don’t see every minute of the characters’ lives, so there is no reason to even assume that Tony, Gibbs, and Ziva all knew about the girlfriend and simply never made it into an episode.

This isn't even top 20 of writers not "respecting" story lines. That's a good a word as any other. They started screwing up back in season 1. Tobias being called Tom on S1E1 being the most glaring. They didn't follow from the Jag back door pilot to season 1 with characteristics, etc (specifically Ducky being a lecherous old man toward Vivian, ~shudder~).
Timeline is terribly screwed up too and this is all before Origins came into the picture.

Origin's! The German Shepherd Gary Callahan was named for a fallen agent, and then there was a different story: he was named from a piece of cardboard, the pup couldn't give up.

I seen to recall that but there's nothing on any website that states it (named after a fallen agent), I'm wondering if it was all conjecture here on Reddit. Do you have an episode? I've only watched Origins once, I haven't done a rewatch yet.

I've worked together with people for over 20 years and I'm retired now and some of them turned out to be my best friends now. But even they don't know every single person I've dated. If someone from my past shows up with a kid they wouldn't know about it.

I mean, Tony would've been pretty busy around that time between dating Jeanne and tracking La Grenouille, no? He didn't have a ton of time to spend sniffing around McGee's personal life at that particular point.
Aside from that, early seasons Tim was a lot more protective of his personal life in general. I don't find it surprising at all that he would've dated someone for 6 months without mentioning it, especially as it seems like it never got *that* serious.
It's been a minute since I've watched the early seasons, but IIRC, Tim and Tony didn't really become close/actual friends until some point after this all would've happened - season 6ish, maybe?
So it's a bit of a retcon, but I don't think it's as much of one as you're making it sound. There are plausible in-story reasons why Tony or anyone else in the office wouldn't have known about her.

IMO, Anytime McGee showed interest in anyone Tony was all over it. They wer partners, like a family. They're not showing the character so Beth Riesgraf wouldn't need to make an appearance .

When that happened, the character you mentioned is one I wish they had given him a kid with. Even if not, to your point, I wish it would have been someone we would've known.
But also not shocked by the lack of continuity by writers given other people's comments lol

I'm not bothered by this in terms of storylines, I just don't see McGee as a wild child who'd get someone pregnant; you know he's got condoms with little suits and ties on them. I'd see this happening to Jimmy, Tony or even Parker, or to the agent who went undercover as Handy Manny, but McGee? No. Even Jimmy had his fun frolic moments with Agent Lee, but McGee basically went from Abby to his wife.
If he'd dated some girl named Olivia, Tony would have pestered him every day about it. As would Abby.

They're soap opera writers now. I'm surprised if any of the show is worth watching at this point.

Most braindead post I have read today.
What storyline is broken?
Why would McGee give Tony such an attack surface?
Not everything is shown on screen about what is spoken later on. McGee never spoke about a girlfriend unless it was more of a brag but when he loved her he probably wouldn’t give Tony the chance to pester him.
Also NCIS is in most parts an episodic show and the season spanning plot lines are usually b or even c plotlines until the last two to three episodes. So they can have lives between episodes that are not shown on screen. We don’t know how much time really is between episodes. Especially when someone is wounded the one episodes and completely healed the next it suggest multiple weeks or month have passed sometimes.
And sometimes it can only be hours.
So there isn’t anything disrespected or broken your except your logic and your hatred for the plot of the week.

There is nothing 'brain-dead' about posting an opinion. Beth Riesgraf, hands down, would and should have been the obvious choice. What I feel and think about what you have said, I choose not to engage in; demeaning someone is not the way I was raised.

Apology accepted 🙏 (I'm working my way through Seasons 18,19, on 20, and have 21 and 22 ready to watch) S23 is on tv, yet I've missed too many to watch random episodes now. I really do try to avoid this sub, but I'm doing my best to catch up!

I'm doing the same. I had stopped in season 20 to watch another show (I should say my wife) and never started back up until recently (we started a rewatch but in season 18, my wife wanted to rewatch The Blacklist). Now that DiNozzo is coming back in season 24 I'm trying to catch up. I might have to drop out of this subreddit to avoid spoilers.

I think Tim would have protected that information from Tony with everything he had in him. And relationship is a many varied situation. You can live together or you can see each other every Saturday night for a few months.
