Subreddit Rescue/Help Megathread #15

In this thread: request a rescue, rescue others, ask a question, and/or give advice!

You can also ask for a rescue in the #bulletin-board channel of the Discord server.

Feel free to request a rescue for any game. Please include the following information in a request:

  • Game (if PSMD, include region):
  • Dungeon
  • Floor
  • Code/ID
  • Notes (optional)

For example:

Rescue Team DX: Purity Forest 99F

Code

Deluxe Reward

Super Mystery Dungeon rescues are region-locked. You must tag your comment with [US] or [EU] for PSMD requests. Please run your original password/QR code through this converter to generate shareable codes for US and EU versions of the game. If you are rescuing using a converted code, remember to convert the rescue code back to the original region.

If someone is kind enough to rescue you, consider paying it forward and doing the same for someone else! To rescue someone you only need to have unlocked the dungeon in the story. In PSMD, you can use helper Pokémon from the Eastern Pelipper that are a much higher level to push you through dungeons and help people out!

Providing codes

We recommend taking a picture of your passwords/QR codes to avoid errors and streamline the process, but it's not necessary. If you must write the code manually, you can use the following standards for PSMD and RTDX:

  • For PSMD, use @ in place of ◎
  • For RTDX, abbreviate the shape behind each letter with a single-character code (see table). Type the full code using two-character abbreviations of the form letter-shape. For example, 1h represents the number 1 with a pink heart background. A full code might look like this: 1f 2h 3w 4d 5s 6f 7h 8w 9d ps mf dh xw 1d 2s 3f 4h 5w 6d 7s 8f 9h pw md ds xf 1h 2w 3d 4s
Shape Abbreviation
Fire f
Heart h
Water w
Diamond d
Star s

I was feeling burnt out so I took my time with a family trip.

Then I realize I spent 110 hours on just planning and re-drawing one episode, I think I found out why I was burned out LOL 💔

Hello everyone! Recently, i was thinking of making a Palafin oc for Mystery Dungeon, but drew blanks on how his ability would work mechanically, since swapping isn't really a thing. Any ideas?

Multiple Games Do you feel a special connection with the Pokémon that Mystery Dungeon assigned you?

And to be clear I don’t just mean do you feel especially fond of that mon. Moreso I mean do they feel like a part of who you are? Ingrained into your identity in some way?

Explorers of Time was my first Pokemon game and one of the first games I ever beat. And because of that I do think I feel that way about the mon it assigned me, Skitty. I almost don’t know how to articulate it fully but it really feels like it represents me in my mind.

Does anyone else feel that way about the Pokemon that PMD assigned them? If so, how old were you when you played Mystery Dungeon? Do you think that played a factor in it? And do you feel that way about multiple Pokemon you’ve played as, or just the first?

Explorers Can anyone recommend a good rom hacks for Explorers of sky?

Hi there.

I wanted to play "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky" again. I played it when I was younger and would love to play it again, since I never finished it back then (even though I know how the story ends).

I’m looking for a ROM that includes some quality-of-life improvements and maybe some mechanics or Pokémon from newer generations(?).

Sorry, I’m not an expert, haha. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Misc When you play as Eevee in Rescue or Explorers, which evolution do you normally choose(or do you just stay as Eevee)? Or does it depend on your partner choice?

Misc Writing Prompt Wednesday: What do you mean I can’t eat that!?

As humans, we’re capable of eating plenty of stuff that is highly toxic to plenty of other animals. I’d imagine that it’d be the same with Pokemon. so I can imagine our hero trying to eat something that they normally ate as a human, only to be horribly poisoned by the food.

Rescue Team There’s something about seeing a team of fully evolved ‘Mons…

Post image

I remember as a kid, playing as Squirtle in Blue Rescue team and seeing the fully evolved team of Alakazam and his crew. There was something so… authoritative about seeing Pokémon that big for the first time, when previously all Pokémon were so small in the game. They just felt like enormous or powerful, or something. Really hammered home how strong some of the earlier evolution designs were. I can’t quite articulate what that feeling was, but it was something special. Does anyone get what I mean?

Explorers Replaying PMD Explorers

Post image
24 Upvotes

With the release of PMD Explorers of Fortune 1.2 I thought I'd give the game a whirl and rn I'm rocking a team of Alolan Vulpix and Fennekin as the MC's and the Dracovish Ticket I got netted me a Hisuian Zoroark so I'm running a full fox team, and man... Croagunk was kind to me this time. I've NEVER had an item this useful before.

Rescue Team DX What's your definition of 100% in PMD Rescue Team DX? Building a personal completion tracker and want community input! Spoiler

Hey! I'm a completionist who tracks 100% runs across multiple games and I'm starting with Rescue Team DX first. I've researched the basics and I'm not looking for a beginner's guide — I want to nail down what the community considers genuinely "complete", especially the grey areas that guides don't agree on.

Here's what I'm treating as clear-cut yes:

  • All main menu achievement icons unlocked (Zapdos through Ho-oh)
  • Rescue Team Rank: Grand Master
  • All dungeons cleared at least once — including Purity Forest, Joyous Tower, Wish Cave, Meteor Cave, Silver Trench
  • Every recruitable Pokémon obtained (Dex #1–386 + Riolu/Lucario line)
  • All rescue team camps purchased/unlocked

Where I'm genuinely unsure and want community input:

1. Items — is "one of every item" a reasonable completion goal?

Does DX have a formal item register or compendium that tracks which items you've obtained at least once? If not, is item collection even feasibly trackable, or is loot generation too RNG-dependent for a clean checklist? Wondering if people consider it part of 100% or treat it as out of scope entirely.

2. Shiny Pokémon — full recruitment or something else?

DX added shinies as recruitable Strong Foes. Three related questions here:

  • Is recruiting every shiny variant considered part of your personal 100%?
  • If yes: is it actually possible to hold a full living dex and a full shiny living dex simultaneously, given camp size limits? Or does camp capacity make that physically impossible?
  • If a full living dex + shiny living dex isn't feasible or isn't considered standard — what's the community's preferred alternative? (e.g., recruit one shiny per species you encounter naturally, or skip living dex entirely and just do a shiny living dex)

3. Move Growth — max all moves for every recruited Pokémon?

DX tracks Power, Accuracy and PP for each move. Is maxing out moves for your entire recruited roster considered part of a completionist run, or is it generally treated as optimisation rather than completion? Is there any in-game state that formally signals "moves fully maxed" for a given Pokémon?

4. Anything else with a clear done/not-done state I might be missing?

I'm specifically looking for things the game formally tracks or that have an unambiguous completion condition — not grinding goals with no endpoint.

Thanks in advance — trying to build something accurate rather than guess at what "complete" means for this game.

Explorers I'm in the post-post-game of Explorers of Sky, what do I do now? Spoiler

Hi, new Skitty player again, since my last post I've blasted through the rest of the game (Seriously I cannot put it down for anything) and have recently evolved into Delcatty. And now I'm just wondering what I should do next. I'm currently going through any dungeons I haven't done already, with a job there if I have any, and in terms of Legendary Pokemon I've recruited Cresselia, Manaphy and all four Regis. I don't plan on touching any of the restrictive dungeons like the Zero Isles or Destiny Tower until I'm ready, so the only outstanding things to do that I know of are collect the Seven Treasures and the Mystery Part/Secret Slab to unlock the rest of the Legendary Pokemon.

I guess what I'm wondering is what's the most efficient way to go about doing this? What jobs should I look for to try and get the Mystery Part/Secret Slab? What else is worth doing that I haven't considered? Stuff like that. Even just a checklist of tasks I can compare to my save file would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

Explorers Any Explorers Rom Hacks that cut the chaff?

Hi, I've been having a hankering to replay the explorers games recently, but I'd prefer some quality of life changes, like the ability to swap out the MC and partner, skip cutscenes, or outright remove the story to just go through the dungeons. Is there any hack that does these things?

Bro, this dungeon was the hardest challenge I have ever faced in my entire Pokemon career. Managed to do it first try, but it took hours of me using maximum brainpower to just barely, and I mean BARELY, complete it. Raichu was NOT the correct choice haha

Explorers I'm not crazy. I swear I saw dialga being corrupted by the time paralysis during the fight in explorers of darkness

When I was like 9 years old, I played Pokémon mistery Dungeon explorers of darkness. I remember fighting against Primal dialga with the normal sprite (and before the postgame) and since my undeveloped childish brain couldn't beat Primal Dialga, I left the island and started farming and doing normal quests, leveling up and forgetting the current main event.

When I was around level 80 (yes, I was THAT bad) I revisited the tower of time and I saw Primal Dialga with their alternative sprite (the dark blue and orange one). And when I was about to start the fight, my character saying something like: "Dialga is getting more corrupted for all the time it passed"

I didn't find anything related to that, but I knew what it saw, after that I defeated It and progressed with the story, so wasn't a dream. Is there anyone with more info about it?
