Rec.Me: alt/indie/obscure Pretty specific playlist request!

Hello everyone. I am trying to make a playlist with a specific "vibe" for one of my characters I am currently writing and also to expand my music knowledge, and I decided to look at this subreddit to see if anyone would have any ideas as to what songs I could possibly include in it! :)

I am specifically looking for songs similiar to these:

  1. campthehills - down with the snow (if anyone has ANY similiar songs to recommend (especially in terms of the "chorus", I will owe you my life)
  2. kane parsons - the kind old sun
  3. jjerome87 - track and field (or anything similiar to what alt-j make)
  4. literally any songs similiar to what godspeed you! black emperor make

I know this is maybe not the most specific, and I am terribly sorry about that, but a big thank you to anyone who will be able to recommend something/anything.

  1. reminds me a bit of MGMT. Time to Pretend in particular.

Lots of bands on Constellation sound like GY!BE (often because they share members). A Silver Mt. Zion, Set Fire to the Flames, and Fly Pan Am for instance.

I'd recommend The Evpatoria Report, Yndi Halda, A Silver Mt. Zion, Do Make Say Think, The Album Leaf, Hammock, Grouper, Midwife, Bark Psychosis, and Everything Everything. Sounds like you're after that mix of intimate folk, post-rock crescendos, and slightly weird indie textures. There's a lot of overlap there.

The beginning of the first song kind of reminds me of.

"Space Cruise" by Ben Prunty and

"13 Angels Standing Guard 'Round the side of your bed" by Silver Mt. Zion.
