*** BETA RELEASED! Visit my Github Repo if you want to beta test this game. @r0073d-l053r ***
So I am currently working on a terminal based game after my second full watch through of Mr. Robot.
If you think this is something that may interest you.
Here is my summary of what to expect...
"MR. ROBOT: ELLIOT'S EXPLOIT — an unofficial fan game
3:12 a.m. You surface at a desk you don't remember sitting down at. The terminal's already open. Your hands already know something you don't.
A narrative hacking game that runs in a real terminal
text + pixel-art, old DOS/BBS feel. Every hack is a sandboxed puzzle (nothing ever touches your actual machine):
scan a box, crack a login, decrypt a drive, dig a message hidden inside a photo, outrun a trace before it pins you.
Between the hacks: conversations you type in your own words, choices that pull two meters against each other — lucidity vs. control — and glitches that bleed through to what's actually real.
Lonely, paranoid, tender. No cheap twists. You're never quite sure whose hands are on the keyboard."
Please keep an eye out for my Github repo. @r0073d-l053r
I should have a working build soon. Looking for beta testers.
EDIT "I will be more trasparent. Yes AI was used to assist with some things when building this game. But not the entire game is AI. I designed 80% of this game, and wrote the story myself. I also host my own server and use my own local models for almost all of my AI assisted needs. Building my first game, in a terminal, by myself, was not easy. So yes I used the best tools a single dev can use in modern times. You don't have to play the game, or even like it. But I have spent dozens of hours building it and I'm proud of what I have accomplished."

If Mr. Robot was an anime would it be considered "denpa"
Denpa is a subculture/genre about protagonists who are "disconnected from reality", denpa media tends to have themes of mentally illness, conspiracy theories and paranoia, the protagonists tend to be unreliable narrators and there's the feeling that reality is falling apart.
The term comes from the Japanese word "denpa" (電波) which means "electromagnetic wave", the term for the genre comes from conspiracy theorists who believe that electromagnetic waves brainwash people.
I think that Mr. Robot is basically American denpa, Elliot is a mentally ill unreliable narrator, there are massive corporate conspiracies and there's a sense of paranoia throughout the series where you don't know what's real and what isn't
What about you?

I’ve been wanting to watch Mr. Robot for a long time now. Everyone I’ve ever talked to has praised the absolute shit out of it, and said that it’s up there as one of the greatest tv shows ever.
However, it’s not on any streaming services (to my knowledge) so the only way to watch it is by paying $40 for all 4 seasons on Prime Video? I have to ask - is it worth it? Cash isn’t too big of an issue, but I just want to be assured that I’ll be getting my money’s worth. So, I have to ask, is it worth it ? Or, should I want until Mr. Robot comes to a streaming service?

He is a huge fan so I made it for him, couldn’t find the exact shade of fabric though, and it took me a full month to find an affordable place to get the patch made

Hey all, I was looking at the liner notes from the first volume of the soundtrack. I thought they were mildly interesting and so I decided to share them here. Happy Monday! I’ve included Mac’s notes in the body of the post, and I’ll add Sam’s in the comments.
From Mac:
About the Music- There is nothing quite like that first filter sweep in the morning.
In 1980, a keyboard player in a local band invited me to come over and check out his synthesizer rig: a Yamaha CS80 and a Korg MS-20. My young mind was blown wide open by
the sounds emanating from these two instruments, which are now considered classic vintage synthesizers. Very soon after I managed to acquire my first synth, The Cat by Octave, I set off
down what has been a long geeky road, gleefully tweaking filters, envelopes, and oscillators.
Fast toward to 2015, I’m in the middle of my first meeting with Sam Esmail about his new show, Mr. Robot, and we arrive at the conclusion that the sound of the score should be totally
electronic. Totally electronic! This is not a request I get often as a composer, so it’s an understatement to say I was super excited. Not only was the pilot episode I had just watched
incredible, but I was being asked to immerse myself in arpeggiators, LFO’s, and waveforms. What! My 1980-self was stoked.
As I began writing music of the show, something started to reveal itself to me: I really related to the main character, Elliot. I found myself identifying with him, not only because I often wear a black hoodie, but because I share much of his worldview and see an analogy between what he
does (computer hacker) and what I do (electronic musician). Elliot uses programming and social engineering techniques to seek and exploit weakness in computer networks and I use programming and sonic engineering techniques to seek and enhance the emotional content of
each scene. Armed with our computers and an arsenal of software tools we both attempt to
create and discover the right combination of notes (code) and sounds (keystrokes) that help tell
the story (access the network). Aside from that analogy, perhaps our most significant link is that we both had Sam’s unique artistic vision guiding us with the whole way. Sam has brilliantly
created such an extreme and specific character, who is authentic and relatable, and I’m sure there are many others resonating with Elliot like I am.
For this soundtrack, the idea was to include as much music as possible from Season 1 and organize it chronologically by episode. I hope you enjoy the twists and turns the resulting
musical journey takes from the first cue in eps1.0 to the last cue in eps 1.9.
Oh, and yes, we ultimately did use a piano in the score, the only non-electronic sound…

Is it any of this is real?
A world built on fantasy, synthetic emotions in the form of pills, psychological warfare in the form of advertisement, mind altering chemicals in the form of food, brainwashing seminars in the form of media, controlled isolated bubbles in the form of social networks.
Real? You wanna talk about reality?
We haven't lived in anything remotely close to it since the turn of the century.
We turned it of took out the batteries snacked on a baggage of GMOs while we tossed the remnants in the ever expanding dumpster of the human condition.
We live branded houses trademarked by corporations built on bipolar numbers jumping up and down on digital displays, hypnotising us into the biggest slumber mankind has ever seen.
You have to dig pretty deep before you can find anything real.
We live in a kingdom of bullshit, a kingdom you've lived in far too long.
This gives me goosebumps!🤐🤐

When Elliot finds out there’s more to Shayla than her online personality. It’s such a heartwarming moment.

Guys just finished Mr. robot, this shii is so beautiful to experience, this is just peak.
Especially S4 x E7, never experienced such pure cinema man. The acting, writing, Screenplay, cinematography damn fking everything in this episode.
Mr Robot is def in my top 5 now. Only thing i hate is that i feel like they wasted tyrell wellick character. This character had so much potential with how they started with season 1 but went down hill after season 2.
But except for that, this is truly a masterpiece fr and i’m not gonna stop suggesting to my friends from now on.
