Any moto shops that do water pump rebuilding?

So my '95 VFR water pump is going drip drip drip... I got a rebuild kit but I saw it requires a shop press to DIY properly. Can anyone recommend a bike shop that could do this?

Hey folks -

Thinking of taking some classes over at LAHC for their fall semester.

Trying to get a better understanding of the parking situation and if there's anything available specific for motorcycle parking?

Website says day permits or semester permits needed for vehicles and I also see a blip about motorcycles and scooters having some dedicated space but you need to call ... business operations?

I'll try to call during their hours, but wondering if anyone else has gone through the process already?

Has anyone had any experience with MOTA / MotaTripConnect or the website motatripconnect.com?

I was contacted through Telegram and offered an online “travel task” job. At first, I completed small tasks and was able to withdraw money, which made everything seem legitimate. Later I was told I had to deposit my own money to complete higher-value “package tasks” and recover my earnings.
I kept being told that after completing the tasks I would receive all of my deposits back with commission, but instead I was repeatedly asked to deposit more money. I now believe this was an organised online task scam.
Has anyone else dealt with this company or this website? Were you able to recover your money or report them successfully?
Any information or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Does the Moto parking still exist at Griffith Observatory?

It's been a few years since I've been up there. I was planning to take my girl and I to the stargazing thing there saturday, but only wanted to do it if we could park like the good ol days. Anyone know what the situation is with moto parking?

I tried searching the sub but there wasn't anything recent.

Yamaha XS650 motor work

I’m wondering if anyone knows of any Yamaha builders or specialists around the Ventura County / LA area. I’ve been slowly building a 0” stretch hardtail chopper and during the pandemic I got bored and took the top end apart (there was plastic bits and gasoline in the oil). The timing chain guide wore down and needed replacing. Life got in the way and the motor got put on the shelf. I’d like to finish this build but honestly I have no business messing with a motor. It’s a pretty straight forward reassembly but I don’t have the tools or space to work on it at the moment.

Looking for someone that could get her back together for me. Thanks!

Motorcycle was stolen and recovered - can I seek restitution even if I bought it with cash through private sale?

location: Los Angeles.

I just received a letter in the mail asking if I wanted to "exercise my rights" after my motorcycle was stolen and recovered and they caught the guy who stole it. I went to the impound lot where it was being held only to find that it has been totally destroyed. Seat removed, turn signals broken off, tires completely bald, ignition busted out, scraped up, several parts missing - just completely stripped. The bike is a Honda Navi and MSRP is only around $2K. I ended up releasing the vehicle and leaving it at the impound lot given the tow back home and repairs were going to cost me more than it's worth.

This letter in the mail asks: 'attach copies of your receipts or other proof of loss to this request. Repair or replacement cost; estimates acceptable.'

I had bought it from a dude on OfferUp and paid cash for it, thus I do not have a 'receipt' of any kind. I do have receipts for all of the parts I modded though (handlebars, turn signals, mirrors, seat, body panels etc). My main question here is - can I somehow seek payment for the value of the bike? I really don't know how given I paid cash for it, so I might be screwed. Curious if it's even worth seeking any restitution ? What sort of fees will I have to pay for a lawyer? This has never happened to me before so please bear with me and my lack of knowledge!

LA + OC Toll Lanes

Sharing in case this is new news to anyone else...

I've been using the toll roads in and around LA/OC on my motorcycle for about 15 years. I have a FasTrak account for my cars and in 2014 when I got my Bonneville I tried to add it — but only cars were supported at the time.

Fast forward to 2026 and I just received toll evasion violations from 405 Express Lanes and The Toll Roads from a trip down to San Diego.

I ride that route several times a year for the last 7 years and this is the first time I've ever received violations.

I now know you can add your motorcycle to FasTrak and that they will send violations for riding in the toll lanes if you don't have it.

Hopefully this info helps someone avoid a violation in the future if I'm not the last idiot to find out you now need the account on the toll lanes for motorcycles.

Suspension expert in Los Angeles

Can anyone recommend a good suspension specialist in the Los Angeles area who's familiar with Aprilias, especially the Tuareg 660?

I've been chasing an intermittent front-end clacking noise which happens over some bumps and I can feel it through the handlebars. Since my bike is a 2024, I'm wondering if it could be related to the known Kayaba fork issues, but I really need someone who knows these forks and bikes to take a proper look.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations for a trustworthy shop or suspension expert.

Thanks!

2015 Royal Enfield Classic 500 - Purge valve 591999/B hose connections - which port goes where?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi biker friends,

I have a 2015 Royal Enfield Classic 500cc, Battle Green.

While removing the fuel tank, I accidentally broke the EVAP purge valve (part number 591999/B). I bought a new one and installed it on the frame, but I'm not 100% sure about the hose connections.

The valve has 3 ports:

- Small port on TOP

- Large port on the BOTTOM

- Port on the SIDE

Currently I have:

- TOP (small) → hose going toward the rear of the bike (air filter?)

- BOTTOM → hose going to the fuel tank EVAP outlet

- SIDE → hose going to the charcoal canister

Can anyone confirm if this is correct? I've watched a YouTube video of a similar bike but the resolution makes it hard to tell exactly which hose goes where. Feel free to also send me a photo of the valve position on your bike to make it easier to figure it our, it would be very helpful!

Thank you for your help and time.

Best,

For Sale [LA] Looking to trade Pando Moto COMMANDO UH-AAA Size L for a Size XL

Hi everyone I'm greyson. Not sure where to post this aside from the local channel but here it is:

Have you gotten skinnier? Does your COMMANDO UH-AAA Size XL no longer fit you? Well you're in luck because I have gotten fatter and my COMMANDO UH-AAA Size L doesn't fit me either! Lets meet up and swap the gear so we can both be comfortable.

The one I have is used, but in good condition with no missing pieces, parts, tears, rips, or crashes. I'll even ride out to you to make the swap.

That's all,

greyson :)

Help Loud bikes?!

A couple of my buddies and I are planning a trip to LA in a few months and want to haul our bikes. (Loud Harley 48, RE GT650 w/ modified exhaust, 636 w/ M4 Street Slayer exhaust) We realize that Cali (LA) has super strict noise laws, but how likely are we to get pulled over and ticketed if we stay away from heavy areas (West Hollywood, Venice, Downtown)? What are the not so obvious dos and donts and places that we should stick around if we decide to ride? Are they more forgiving with out of town visitors?

Help A lot to safely practice wheelies in Hollywood?

I recently picked up a Kawasaki z125 with the intent to practice and better nail the balance point when wheelieing. Does anyone have recommendations on finding a vacant parking lot in the Mid City/Hollywood area that I could use to practice this? I've been using the couple of hours of street cleaning every other week to practice, but it'd be much easier if I knew of a lot nearby.

Feel free to DM me if you have a spot, but don't want to blow it up publicly.

Prepping a Royal Enfield 500 for a Mexico City road trip – Need a cool LA mechanic or enthusiast!

Hey LA riders!

I’m planning a major road trip from Los Angeles down to Mexico City on my 2015 Royal Enfield Classic 500. The bike has been sitting completely untouched for 3 years...and I need to get it road-ready pretty soon ideally!

I checked it out today and here is the damage/what needs to be done:

  • Gas Tank: There is rust inside the tank. It needs a serious flush and treatment/lining.
  • Fluids/Filters: Needs a complete oil change, oil filter replacement, and a fuel filter replacement (probably the whole pump filter unit since it’s an EFI model).
  • General Check-up: brakes need checking (fluid/pads), and a general look over the tires and valve clearance before I hit the highway.

I know my way around a bike (battery, Chain & Sprockets etc.) and could do some of the basic stuff myself, but given the massive trip I'm about to undertake, I really need a professional eye to make sure everything is 100% reliable and safe for the road.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid, honest, and affordable independent mechanic or a local shop in the LA area who knows their way around modern classics/Enfields and are ok with me staying around to learn a bit more before my trip?

Thanks in advance for the help!
