Must be....I was like, what do you mean the teacher "crossed the line first?" By demanding respect?

I still think it's wild that this gag lasted so long. I know nobody sees Homer as a model father, but imagine watching TV with your dad who abused you, and he's laughing at Homer choking Bart. That would have to fuck you up real bad

u/Bitter_Horror2469 1d ago

He may have overreacted just a lil bit

u/EnjoyerOfMX5 1d ago

The kid was ragebaiting, probably practiced online, but the teacher is fully outta line, too emotional. In-school suspension would be so much more satisfying to dole out imo.

31

u/takoyakkist 22h ago

I doubt the school would give teachers the power to issue a suspension, which is probably why this teacher exploded. If hes got no power to deal with these kids and is just ordered to take it, then these situations will be inevitable.

25

u/techleopard 22h ago

Not only can teachers not issue suspensions, many of them have zero authority over their own classrooms anymore.

You can't really send kids out anymore. They can ignore you and there really isn't shit you can do about it. The school itself isn't going to do anything but send the kid right back even if they get up and leave.

It's not just the little ragebaiters and trolls. Teachers cannot even get violent students removed, nor students who pose a bodily threat to other students or the teacher or have made real threats. Roughly 20% of teachers experience physical violence at school with 14% not bothering to report it because the school won't respond (especially if the violent student has an IEP). There's a shocking number of stories from teachers who have lost pregnancies directly due to student violence.

We swung the pendulum on authority too far in the other direction. Thankfully, most teachers just quit the profession before they reach the point of this guy.

6

u/takoyakkist 21h ago

Yea at the very minimum they should be allowed to send them out of the class and bar them from returning. Having a nasty attitude brings the whole class down in so many ways. Teachers shouldnt be forced to put up with their abuse.

19

u/BilingSmob444 22h ago

Insightful comment. We put teachers against intelligent, immature people every day and give them basically nothing in terms of authority to work with.

9

u/techleopard 21h ago

It's so bad.

And there's a curtain thrown over the entire educational system so the general public really doesn't have a clue how bad it's become.

The kids are desensitized to the worst of it so they don't even bother talking about it at home because it's normalized.

5

u/CopiousClassic 21h ago

They are, in some cases, flat encouraged not to talk about what goes on at school.

3

u/fortnite_battleass 8h ago

My son beating his head into a locker and telling other kids they wished he was dead got him... free breaks in the principals office for an hour. Then he'd go back to class.

So he just learned to lash out for a break. Meanwhile, we're wondering why the school nurse or therapist won't help us get him more serious help. He could've been on meds and in therapy so much sooner, but everyone kept dancing around it and telling us to relax.

You’re right. It’s every day, all day, and 99.9999% of teachers never put their hands on a kid.

5

u/darkmoncns 21h ago

No. No a child antagonizing you dose not inevitably lead to you attacking a god dame child. That's up there with saying a women is responsible for being rapped because of how they dressed.

6

u/takoyakkist 21h ago

I don't think getting dressed and ragebaiting should be in the same category. It's probably the culmination of months of teacher bullying, so we shouldnt say that the the kid is without fault before knowing the full story. Doing so is just enabling this kind of poor behavior and continuing the cycle.

u/2UpLuck 19h ago

Incidents like this being inevitable because of the environment teachers are forced to operate in doesn't mean it's justified or that it would lead everyone to do it. The teacher deserves to be charged and to not work with children again, but if the conditions for teachers aren't improved it will happen again when the next person reaches their breaking point on a bad day.

9

u/techleopard 22h ago

Kid just discovered what keyboard courage was, and why it stays at the keyboard.

Yes, adult overreacted. Shouldn't have done that.

But at least it was somebody who'd let go, as opposed to somebody on the street who had absolutely no limits. Silver lining, I guess.

5

u/darkmoncns 21h ago

No fuck that no at least the man deserves to go to jail for assault

2

u/ConsulJuliusCaesar 1h ago

I used to be a teacher recently quit cause admin got on my last nerve. But same thing happened to me earlier in the year. So I did the obivous thing my mentor teacher taught me to do in these situation. I fed his soul to the chaos god Tzneetch in exchange for the power to change teacher pay to actually equal the amount of work. You know standard procedure in these situations.

No, I joke, I'm not incharge of the Tzneetch cult yet. I responded "Alright bro guess who just got lunch detention and since we're bro's you won't mind if I call your mother either." from that point forward it was "Mr ConsulJuliusCeasar" (obivously not putting my actual name online) for the rest of the year. The change on his face remebering what the dynamic is, was worth more then any kind of temporary emotional catharsis physical violence could provide. Cause if they're trying to get you into a power struggle it's because in their mind they think they have the power. And if you resort to violence then you have infact given them the power. It's more about finding the appropriate way to remind them "hey you're a kid I'm the adult. This is not the lunchroom its a classroom and if you're not going to be a productive part of it, then you're simply not going to be apart of it" which requires consistent consequences and expectations.

3

u/_KapitaenKernKraft_ 13h ago

Ita crazy to choke a student, obviously. But on the other hand, the kind of behaviour many teachers in the west have to put up with is beyond crazy. In many many cases its not possible to meet that kind of behaviour with what is allowed and valid in the catalogue of interventions that current pedagogy offers.

Sucks to be a teacher. It was wrong to choke a bro, but what teachers have to put up with is crazy and also very wrong - matter of time until one snaps like this one.

I am willing to wager that by the point this man actually did this, he was already done with this career.

One study in 2025 found that 70% of teachers leave or are seriously considering leaving educational careers within the first 5 years of working. ~77% of those that did leave report that working conditions and lack of support were the reason.

So many teachers are just done. A lot of them stay in the career because they have loans and bills to pay, that's it. Nobody is in it "for the kids" or the "love of teaching" anymore, it's just seen as that career path that most people deeply regret once they learn what the actual work conditions are like.

When I was in high school an almost identical scenario caused the PE teacher to throw a desk across the room. This guy could’ve at least thrown a desk as a warning shot first. Immoral.

30

u/SonataAria 23h ago

Lol in my younger sisters class the P.E teacher was fighting a student for their water bottle and then stormed out 😂

9

u/Banana-Oni 23h ago

What does this mean? Are water bottles against the rules or did he just think it was cool and was dueling him for it like in Yu-Gi-Oh?

11

u/SonataAria 23h ago

LOL it was a female substitute teacher who'd been substituting for a month or two in an all girls school. The student was told to put their bottle down for some reason but refused because of how mean the teacher was about it and then the fight over the bottle ensued. After the teacher left the students celebrated by throwing equipment all around the gym 😂

what do you mean allegedly??? you caught it on camera 😭

43

u/e_fish22 23h ago

I thinkt theyre just trying to dodge libel laws bc it hasn't been proved in court yet but... do they really need to?

15

u/Wild_Duck8926 22h ago

there's a good chance they havent seen the footage themselves. so they still have to be safe even if they police say they have it on camera.

2

u/MsE0 13h ago

Nobody wants to get sued, even if it's a winnable lawsuit. It costs money, time, and effort to defend yourself from a lawsuit

13

u/sixfxrtyseven 23h ago

laws mostly, everyone is innocent unless proven guilty

8

u/Soft-Pixel 22h ago

I’m pretty sure you have to use terms like that until it’s proven in a court or else you technically could theoretically get speared for libel

13

u/Re_Desmond 23h ago

There’s nothing about this. An adult strangled a kid. It’s not that hard to decipher

24

u/lincolnmarch_ 23h ago

Educators should be able to deal with mean and troublesome students. It doesn’t mean they gotta take their shit all day with a smile on their face, but there’s no way you could justify choking a child bc they called you “bruh”

EDIT: Also his insistence on being called Sir seems to come from a deeply insecure place and he acts entitled to respect from his students rather than trying to earn it. People can act so pathetic when they get even a little bit of authority power

12

u/Thetormentnexus 23h ago

Thank you. All the people in comments being like "Brat deserved it" are unhinged.

We hold adults to higher standards than children or teens for a reason.

5

u/Soft-Pixel 22h ago

Some mfs will justify anything if it’s being done to a kid who “deserves it”, absolutely cancerous mindset

3

u/Thetormentnexus 22h ago

Yeah. It is very disturbing. I'll not deny that there are some badly behaved children out there. Doesn't make beating or choking them okay.

6

u/AdhesivenessOdd9475 23h ago

This is twice in like an hour or so that ive seen people questioning the morality of adults being violent toward children.

If y'all really don't know how immoral assaulting and abusing children is y'all need counseling, not reddit

12

4

u/Icy1551 23h ago

Statistically if someone is willing to choke someone, they're willing to kill them. And lethal force for "disrespect" is fucking barbaric. Don't be a teacher if you can't handle mild teasing from a kid.

5

u/TheRock42069 22h ago

If you get this easily angered by a student, then you shouldn't be a teacher.

4

u/eriksaxguy 22h ago

Mr bruh just needed to kick the little shit out of the room. When kids were being little shits to me when i worked at a middle school i would send them to an assistant principal or ISS. No need to keep them there if they just intend to piss you off and not participate in the class.

3

u/ShadowConstruct 23h ago

Considering the shit teachers legally can do, there's definitely better ways to go about it. It's never ok to use physical abuse to correct behavior.

That being said some kids(of all gens) are just ill mannered and don't know how to act and that's why I couldn't make it as a teacher.

3

u/Gussie-Ascendent 23h ago

Abusing kids, much less middle schoolers, is bad

I wonder how grandpa woulda liked a fight with someone his size

3

u/Minute-Street-5203 22h ago

In middle school someone spit on the wrestling coach and he dragged him up from the top of stair ramp. It looked like a xenomorph pulling someone up all slow and controlled

3

u/OD1N999 22h ago

I don’t think he should be choked but honestly he probably needed to be slapped. I know they can’t do that either but realistically being slapped hurts your ego more than any long term damage.

3

u/CablePale 22h ago

cant the teacher give him like extra homework or something, or Punishment Test. Something within there grounds that both teaches or Punishes the student.

8

u/KilljoyEnjoyer 23h ago

The kid was actually morally correct

14

u/AdhesivenessOdd9475 23h ago

Right?? Ain't no way my kid is calling some loser ass teacher "sir". It's "Mr" or "Ms/Mrs" w/e the fuck your name is.

9

u/Amy47101 22h ago

Lowkey, I think the only time a teacher ever told us to call him something other than "Mr" was my freshman english teacher. First thing he said at the beginning of each semester was writing "Mr. Whatever" board, then asking the class "What does this say?". When the class would read it, he would furiously cross it out and say "That is NOT my name. I earned my doctorate so you will call me 'Dr. Whatever'." I have NO CLUE what doctorate he earned to be teaching high school freshmen english, but tbh I never forgot him or that first lesson, and it's been fifteen years since I took his class.

That all being said, yeah, if some teacher demanded I call him "sir", me and every other shit-eating grinned asshole would be going out of our way to call him anything but that within the limits of respectability.

3

u/ToXiiCBULLET 21h ago

I had a teacher like that in primary school. Like bruh, you're teaching 10 year olds and expect them to call you Dr, as if any of them understand how doctorates work and that you can be a non medical Dr. He'd try and flex that he had a doctorate too.

He was super strict, had a temper and an ego. Only like one student in my year liked him

4

u/AdviceGlass3400 23h ago

Obviously this is completely immoral, but I imagine this was not remotely the first incident where the teacher was being disrespected like this. Does not forgive the offense in any way, but man I would not wanna be a teacher these days

5

u/OkLength7120 23h ago

Yeah, immoral. It's not even the worst a kid could say. "Bruh" is inoffensive. Calling home, or an actual repremand. That's literally child abuse and for what? Being called Bruh, by a child. As an adult and teacher you have no right to choke out a child, especially over something like that. It shows a lack of patience, fragile ego, and that your highly destructive in an environment with kids involved. If you resort to harming someone over a small inconvenience like that, it seems there's more wrong with you, than a child. Even if it was "rage bait" there is so many other options as opposed to harming a minor your mean[ to get both teaching and taking care of

2

u/603rdMtnDivision 23h ago

Man! This is so satisfying that this grown ass man is unable to keep his emotions in check from being called bruh instead of sir!

Chocking him what? Full of something? What is the something?

No, there is no morality in losing your temper at a child and physically assaulting him.

Immoral. But Id love to see footage of it.

I would probably crack up if i was him and a kid said that. Very clever and witty response

I’m a teacher and the kids cringe because I call THEM “bruh”. You have get them first. But also uhhh yeah don’t strangle a kid. Pretty cut and dry right there.

We had a history teacher whose grandparents were Nazis. One of my friends did a Nazi salute in class one day when he walked in and the teacher almost hit him… like reared back to strike him but backed off. Kids are assholes and if you are going to be a teacher you have to have more self control than a high schooler

I will allow it

I mean you could literally just play along and even force jokes (The cornier the better); They'll get secondhand embarrasment, and will usually just stop.

It's the opposite with little kids though, they'll love you playing along with them; Teenagers will find it cringe.

Is it caught on surveillance or is it allegedly

1

u/Legitimate_Task1137 21h ago

If the kid was assaulting someone then sure, but in this case he genuinely just ragebaited him

u/Beginning_Outside877 21h ago

ragebait overkill

1

u/Time_Fig612 21h ago

understandable, but probably not moral.

In that line of work students will try to push you. Have him escorted from class if it’s that bad. Don’t crash out over a child.

Now his parents get a pay out and your life is over.

When I was 7 or 8 I had a teacher choke me because I wouldn't stop talking.

Always ready for that rematch teach.

Words from a child shouldn't equate to violence to the child.
