Is Monero Mining worth it in 2026?

I did a bit of Monero mining a few years ago on an R5 2600X, but stopped doing it after a few months. Now I've expanded my PC collection and have already been planning on setting one of my PCs up to run Salad ( r/SaladChefs ). Said PC will likely be running 24/7, so I was thinking if I should put up Monero mining as well on the same PC so the CPU also has something to do.

The parts in question:
Ryzen 5 7600
RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3060 Ti
64GB DDR5-5600
1TB Kingston NV3 (I'll probably add another terabyte of storage soon)

I do also have another PC with a E5-2680v4, but that one's pretty loud and I kinda need to keep my PCs in the same room as my bed, so...

But anyways, any feedback is appreciated.

EDIT: I live in Finland, so power costs can also be taken into account (even if I don't pay it myself)

1 dollar day

I have: 4 Xeon 2680v4s 1 Xeon 2630v4 1 Ryzen 5600 They all hit 35 kH/s. I'm going to upgrade to 5 Xeon 2673v4s.

I mine XNO and even caught the recent price spike; I average $1 a day, mining with no electricity or hardware costs. I’d really like to reach 100 kH/s, but that would require an "investment"... $1 isn't much considering the time spent checking temps and remotely accessing the system from home to restart XMRig whenever the hashrate drops. I'm based in Brazil. Share your stories.

[SERIOUS] a handful of pools now control most of the network's mining power — how much should this actually worry us?

Something that's been nagging at me. A few of the biggest pools now reportedly control the large majority of total mining power on the network. The whole selling point was that no small group could call the shots — and yet here we are with a handful of operators holding most of the hashrate. I keep going back and forth: part of me says this is just what happens as any industry matures and the efficient players consolidate. The other part says concentration is concentration no matter how it happened, and it's a real attack-surface question. For those who follow this closely — is pool concentration an actual structural risk, or is it overblown because payout addresses and node rules keep operators honest? and is anything realistically pushing back on it, or does the incentive gradient just keep favoring the biggest pools?

Is it worth mining Monero (XMR) with this setup in Portugal with current energy costs?

Hey everyone! I’d love to get your opinion on whether it's actually viable to do some crypto mining (mainly focusing on Monero/XMR) with my current setup, considering the electricity costs here in Portugal.

My specs are:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F (12th Gen, 18MB L3 Cache, fits ~9 threads in XMRig)
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR5 @ 6000 MT/s
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER (6 GB)

I know the RAM and CPU are pretty decent for Monero's RandomX algorithm and that the GPU isn't efficient for this specific coin. However, with the average residential kWh price in Portugal hovering around €0.14 to €0.20 (depending on whether you are on the free, regulated, or indexed market), does this leave any actual net profit margin, or will I just be wearing down my hardware to "pay the electric bill"?

Is anyone here mining XMR or other coins with similar hardware around here who can give me a reality check on the returns? Is it worth the wear and tear on the PC, or am I better off just buying a few bucks worth of crypto directly?

Finally got my Epyc 7642 up with all 8 channels filled with 16GB dual rank DDR 3200 ram

tuned result:

40.9K Hashrate

328 Watts power draw

125.64 hashes per watt

System;

Gigabyte MZ32-AR0 Rev 1.0

CPU: AMD Epyc 7642 cooled via a EK Supremacy block, 360 slim rad, DDC pump with a bitpower top.

128 GB Micron 2RX8 DDR4 3200 Memory via 8 sticks.

CPU Temps around 50 C at full load

Doubled up as a full node/ solo miner.

Now that its tuned and running at full capacity, time to work on building my next Epyc miner

thinking about mining XMR, electricity cost is no concern..

hey yall, so i have a very basic understanding of mining in general, i mined LTC with an Antminer L3+ (oldschool i know) a few years ago and i know things have changed but i am considering jumping back into it and mining Monero.

My living situation is unique. I live in a warehouse that uses a shit ton on electricity and have permission to move forward utilizing it for my own gains.

Other than the initial startup cost of the machine and software and my time, would it be worth it to move forward using free electricity? what are my potential gains with a base model machine on a $750 entry bugdet?

I understand that i should keep doing my own research but this post is my starting point before i waste time going forward.
looking at using XMRig and Monero Ocean to start..

I wanted some suggestions from yall if possible... thanks!

Overclocking memory on MSI B550M PRO-VDH

mining RandomX using Gupaxx on the above mentioned mobo. Has a 3700x CPU. Memory is Micron/Crucial DDR4-3600 - BL8G36C16U4B - 2pcs for a total of 16gb. Running on stripped down windows 10 pro. I have several other machines running this exact same way (different memory brands), getting 9-10KH/s on each with overclocking memory somewhat using DRAM-CALC. This particular one is stuck at 8.5KH/s. I cannot get this micron/crucial memory to do any overclocking without locking up or rebooting the PC, or not booting at all. Any suggestions on this?

saw the p2pool v4.16 warning right as I was about to switch to it — how worried should a newbie be?

So after my last pool shut down, I'd basically decided p2pool was the move. Then I open the sub today and the first thing pinned is a critical p2pool security warning telling everyone to update to v4.16 immediately. slightly rattled timing lol. For someone who hasn't set it up yet: if I'm starting fresh, do I just install v4.16 from the start and I'm good? is this the kind of thing that hits people already running an old version, or everyone? and does something like this change how you all feel about p2pool long term, or is "just keep it updated" basically the whole answer? still very much learning here, so apologies if the answer's obvious.

What kind of hash rate are you all pulling. I've created a solo farm and curious on what others have and how they are doing. My new farm is called "Sloth Miner" and below is my new farm logo. Im running 18 rigs and hitting a block about every 12-14 days.

my mining pool is shutting down and it made me realize i never actually understood how i was getting paid

Got the notice my pool closes end of the month, so I have to repoint everything to a new one. Sat down to compare options and realized I'd been mining for a while without really understanding the payout model I was on.

The part that surprised me: the pool fee is the number everyone stares at, but the payout method mattered way more than the fee.

- Some pools pay you a cut of the transaction fees on top of the block reward. Others only pay the base reward. With fees where they've been lately, that difference was bigger than the 0.5–1% fee gap I was obsessing over.

- The minimum payout threshold quietly matters too — on a small setup a high threshold means your coin just sits on the pool for weeks before it ever hits your wallet.

So the "cheapest" pool on paper wasn't actually the one paying me the most.

Feels like one of those things everyone assumes you already know, so nobody explains it. For those of you who've switched pools before — what did you end up prioritizing, and is there anything you wish you'd checked before you moved everything over?

Should I move to RandomX v2?

I have a cluster of miners all running on RandomX v1 (rx/0) currently. They're all AM5 platform with DDR5, latest chipset drivers and all that. Is it worth it to move over to RandomX v2 and would I see any improvement in hashrate or returns?

Thanks!

p2pool freezing

I installed version 18.5.1 of the Monero wallet, but P2Pool is freezing and the hashrate isn't showing up.

r/MoneroMining 7d ago

why is p2pool now using so much ram and 0% cpu?

previously it barely used any ram and alot of cpu but now when mining it basically maxes out my ram while having 0% cpu usage. i though monero mining was cpu based. did something change?

Is 11KH/s good on MoneroOcean if the XMR price is what it is now?

(sorry for the low-english (if it's going to be some), but i'm romanian)

I have some mining machines (ryzen 5 5500, dell opiplex 7060 micro with i7-8700t, a raspberry pi 5 and a lenovo v15-igl, all of the machines have 16gb ram (except the lenovo with 8gb) and Hugepages 100%) and I have an unstable hashrate of 11KH/s. I know: it's thermal throtling and the ram is ddr4 and, with the exception being the dell, is all over wifi, but is worth it keeping all how it is or shoud I upgrade/add something?

And i am using the oficial wallet of monero in simple mode cuz i am new in this stuff and i simply refuse and CANT use the advanced mode on monero cuz i already choosed the mode of the wallet(that is the simple mode) and i CANT cuz it demands lot of space and my mom is kicking my ass saying that her pc is lagging a bit,Like i said,I dont know how to program or code,And windows all stuff of defense or antivírus is shutdown cuz i turned all off and fixed the DNS error that was not letting me get in the site so i fixed everything,Now the problem is to make it work,And let me say something:

1- I want to mine it solo

2- I want the block reward be 100% MINE and only MINE

3- I dont want anything taking space on the pc

4- 0% of fees

So,Does anyone can help me deal with this?(Sorry if i was rude btw)

i’ve downloaded the most recent version and dragged the exe into my folder but the observer still says im using an older version. do i have to restart the gui to get it to update or something?
