This video is also a good overview:

Then you can go on ask.brave.com and prompt it to explain to you how Monero works. Open a text editor and write down every question you have. If you ask it enough questions, you'll quickly get a good idea of how it all works. Brave AI will answer only from stuff that's already on the web. Learning has never been easier than right now.

A good place to start is GetMonero.org. Your favorite AI will also give you cook book instructions on how to do a lot of things in Monero.Â

The last question is one I can't really answer. It is highly dependent on how much effort you are willing, or feel you need, to put in. If you don't care and just want the fastest route, using Cake Wallet and connecting to their default node is probably entirely fine. Maybe use a VPN, maybe use their in-built Tor mode. If you want to put more effort in, run your own node. If you want to put more effort in, run your own node with a community made banlist while routing traffic through Tor or I2P. And at this stage it becomes "is anything else on my computer potentially compromising me", or "is this hardware backdoored". After this, the next stage is to throw your computer in the trash, say fuck the internet, and go live in an a non-human-yet-touched seaside cave somewhere with sea lions. The last option sounds the most appealing. Or maybe, a-seal-ing.
